Workplace Wellbeing on a Shoestring
6 Things HR Can Do in 2014
1. Create a Wellbeing Hub
Create a Health & Wellbeing page on your intranet.
If you’re using a social intranet even better (Yammer, Jive or Jostle).
2. Keep It FreshThere’s nothing more boring than outdated, stale
information.
Keeping it fresh is easy (see next slide).
2. Fresh Content Made Easy
To save you searching for content yourself…
- Twitter (@vimcore)- Facebook (Vimcore Pty Ltd)- Pinterest (vimcore) or - subscribe to our blog
www.vimcorewellbeing.com
for daily fresh servings of wellbeing tools, tips and resources that you can put up on your Hub.
3. Find Internal Champions • Every company has at least one or two passionate health
gurus- find them!
• Send out a nomination form or simply ask who would like to lead fitness/yoga/sports sessions and on what days/times.
4. Combine CSR and Wellbeing
• Run for charity (Blackmores, City2Surf and plenty of other runs are geared for this)
• Do Steptember
(it’s a month-long pedometer challenge for Cerebral Palsy and
costs just $25 per person)
5. Promote ‘10 & 2’s
• Ask managers to encourage their teams to stand up, walk away from their desks and stretch every day at 10am and 2pm.
• An email or smartphone reminder is a great way to kick start the habit. Praise people for taking up this behaviour.
6. Encourage the ‘Flesh Sesh’
• Instead of emailing the person next to you, approach them (in the flesh) and take a walking meeting.
• Encourage managers to do this with their team, aim for 3-4 walking meetings a week. Praise staff for taking up this behaviour.
Got some nifty ideas?
We’d love to hear them and have you share them.
