Food Service Job Fair ARAMARK @ Arizona State University Location: Union Stage Rm #085 - Time: 8am-5pm, Dec 13th

ARAMARK APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE IN LOBBY OR AT THE FISHBOWL… ARAMARK will be hosting a JOB FAIR on DECEMBER 13th in the Memorial Union Bld. on Arizona State University Campus. If you are interested in one of the following food service jobs please come and interview with one of the managers here on campus.

INSIDE TIPSTER: To successfully fill out the Aramark Application you will need to have the complete job description (cheat sheet) to insure you have the correct words, phrases and know what (specific) skills they are seeking. Get this wrong and you may have wasted a trip. The problem (see yesterday’s job book) is that the only full job description available was for the 10 cooks they need to hire. Normally, you could get them from their HR Office and then you could set down and use the Used Job Shack’s “Dissect that job!” methodology to extract the key words, phrases and skills that you need to “connect-the-dots” and qualify yourself for the job that you are interested in applying for. Seeing that you do not have these job descriptions, what do you do? Do you just wing it? Do you forget about it and not apply? Or is there another alternative?

Page 3: 12 dec 13 (recovered)

Look up the US Department of Labor’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles online. This is the next best source that you can use and it will give you most of the key words, phrases and skills that you will need. This is a FREE SERVICE and the information it posts will help you greatly in getting your application qualified. REMEMBER THE POSITIONS ARE:

• Food Service Workers (FSW) at ARAMARK at ASU • The General Utility Worker at ARAMARK at ASU • Food Prep Workers at ARAMARK at ASU • The ARAMARK Cashier at ASU • The Aramark Cook at ASU

Get this information and splice, dice and tear it apart...keep all of their phrases and use their actual words (this is what the computer was scanning for)...apply liberally to each of YOUR job descriptions...you will see a big difference in your call-back ratio.

OTHER APPLICATION COMMON SENSE:

1. Most required skills will be general in nature. 2. Do not over complicate this! Customer Service is Customer Service

if I am in retail or if I am an auto mechanic. REALLY! What is Customer Service? Isn’t it making sure that you customer has what they need and that they are happy with that? SEEZ!

3. The basic operation of a cash register at Aramark will not be different than at any other store. Realize that if you have the basic operation down pat then you are good to go – as every store has a

Page 4: 12 dec 13 (recovered)

different system on which they will need to train you…if you have the basics.

4. They are looking for skills and your ability to perform certain duties. They are not asking you how many times you actually did something but, rather, do you have the ability to do the task. If the job is riding a bicycle, do they really care where you learned to ride the bicycle or do they care if you know how to? SEE!

5. They are not asking you how many times you do an actual task. Only the government will ask you to do that kind of breakdown to what fraction of time per day did you perform each task.

6. REPEAT RULE #2. 7. Do not assume that the computer (or for that fact an employer)

will understand every aspect of your job and realize that they will not connect the dots for you. That is not their job, it is yours! If you really want the job connect the dots (match up your skills with their requirements).

8. Understand that this is required to get the job and that the more time you spend to do a quality application the better you chances are of getting called for an interview. Volume does not count especially if they are done incorrectly. There is no such thing as close in applications…this is not a game of horseshoes, it is your future, your ability to get a job and return your life to normal.

ATTENTION UMOM CAMPERS: Stop by and pickup the application to fill out and take with you. Check to see if there will be FREE Transportation to/from Job Fair. ========================================================= BACKGROUND NOTICE: They are previously incarcerated friendly and will set down with you to talk about your background. They will not have you fill out the background check unless they are going to over you a position. YOU MUST do a complete disclosure on that form. If they find additional charges that were not disclosed, they CAN NEVER hire you. Serial Killers, Sex Offenders, Armed Robbery and outstanding warrants are usually deal busters. Everything else it will be looked at based upon its relationship with the job applied for, how old it is and how much they want to hire you.
