5 WAYS TO SPOTAN EMAIL SCAM
1. Requesting Payment in Advance
A legitimate recruiter will not ask for payment up front.Scammers typically use two reasons to demand payment:• To facilitate part of the recruitment process (eg, obtaining security clearance, or a travel visa)• To cover training that you will need in a ‘hypothetical’ future job.
2. Email from Free Email Service
A legitimate job offer email will come from an email address that has a format looking something like this: [email protected]
If it looks like this then it is probably a scam email: [email protected]
3. Job Offers without Interviews
It may be flattering to be told that your CV is a perfect match, but if you are being offered a position without an interview
then you are almost certainly being scammed.
4. Offers for Jobs You Haven’t Applied for
If you receive an email that reads something like ‘following your application’ or ‘we have received your application’ when you know that you haven’t applied
for the position in question, please DELETE the email; you are almost certainly being scammed.
5. Requests for Personal Information
If someone has really seen your CV then they don’t need to ask you for personal details. Never pass any personal information on to someone that you haven’t met
and also never until you have accepted a job offer with a supporting employment contract.
