Based at St Peters
The Eastern Health Authority provides a wide range of environmental health services to the community in the eastern and inner northern suburbs of Adelaide. With a mission statement to protect people’s health and wellbeing, the Authority’s main functions include provision of immunisation services; surveillance of food safety; sanitation and disease control; and licensing of supported residential facilities. Currently EHA are looking to appoint the senior role of Team Leader of Immunisation.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this role’s objectives include supervising, supporting and provide leadership of the day to day operational activities of the Immunisation team administering Eastern Health Authority’s (EHA’s) Immunisation Programs including school based, public clinics and worksite programs within a Local Government environment. Other key responsibilities in the role include:
Ensure the maintenance of the IMPS register
Ensure the maintenance of EHA’s compliance with the requirements of:
the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register
South Australian Immunisation Co-ordination Unit
Develop and maintain networks with other immunisation providers to ensure best practice in service delivery
Work with the Senior Management Team to facilitate integrated operations, organisational process reviews and continual improvements based on EHA’s values
Promotion and marketing of programs. Undertake strategic planning and marketing activities relevant to the delivery of services
Identify alternative sources of funding
Leading a small and dedicated team, this role will see the successful candidate work both in managing immunisation programs whilst having a component delivering these programs in the field. It is expected the successful applicant will have strong written and verbal communication skills, enjoy working with a varied stakeholder group and have strong computer literacy.
Ideally suiting current Registered Nurses with previous experience in Immunisation and managing small teams, applications from Registered Nurses with a background in Education, Commerce or aligned areas of community health are strongly welcomed. Position Description TITLE: Team Leader Immunisation SECTION: Immunisation REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer CLASIFICATION LEVEL: 6 DIRECT REPORTS: 4 (plus casuals)
POSITION OBJECTIVES
To supervise, support and provide leadership of the day to day operational activities of the
Immunisation team administering Eastern Health Authority’s (EHA’s) Immunisation
Programs including school based, public clinics and worksite programs within a Local
Government environment.
Ensure programs and services under your supervision are of the highest quality and are
delivered within budget and adhere to EHA’s policies, procedures and direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational responsibilities:
Ensure the maintenance of the IMPS register.
Ensure the maintenance of EHA’s compliance with the requirements of:
the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register
South Australian Immunisation Co-ordination Unit.
Develop and maintain networks with other immunisation providers to ensure best
practice in service delivery.
Promotion and marketing of programs. Undertake strategic planning and marketing
activities relevant to the delivery of services.
Liaise with appropriate stakeholders.
Maintain and review administrative and Immunisation Service Procedures to facilitate
efficient and effective processing and recording of all matters relating to the
Immunisation Service and ensure all information and instructions are accurate and
correct.
Engage and manage contractors and suppliers in accordance with Local Government
Act requirements and organisational policies, regulations and guidelines.

Leadership:
Support the successful delivery of the Immunisation Programs through the coordination
of the Immunisation Nurse Team and associated administrative requirements.
Supervise the day to day activities of the Immunisation team members including:
Rostering and co-ordinating of shifts and leave as required
monitor performance and compliance within established work practices,
procedures and guidelines for all staff
Setting and monitoring of team and individual work plans including career
development reviews
Conducting regular team meetings
Recruitment and training of staff
Ensure the Immunisation services team members maintain full awareness of current
EHA policies and legislative provisions including any changes that impact on the service
provision.
Support Team members to identify opportunities for improved work practices.
Customer service:
Promote a culture of Customer Service Excellence within the EHA team.
Gather and analyse internal and external customer feedback to establish satisfaction
and expectations, and set standards and implement improvements required.
Ensure the provision of accurate and relevant advice on immunisation matters to the
Immunisation and Administration teams as well as enquiries from internal and external
stakeholders and clients.
Develop and implement proactive measures to identify areas of low uptake for
Immunisation and develop strategies to increase participation in the program.
Promote and raise the communities' general awareness of the Immunisation services
available through EHA.
Key Stakeholders:
This role will interact with a varied stakeholder base ranging from Senior Management with the Local Government, Education, Health and Private Sector Groups.

Reporting responsibilities:
Accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for:
The development of the Immunisation Section operational plans as detailed in the
Annual Business plan.
Key Performance targets as determined in the EHA Annual Business Plan and / or
individual work plans.
Ensuring that team goals are consistent with EHA’s objectives by facilitating and
directing team processes.
In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer prepare, monitor and report on the
relevant budget lines on the business unit’s annual budget and financial plan.
Report on performance against agreed KPIs for the area of responsibility, together with
variances in expenditure against budget.
Work with the Senior Management Team to facilitate integrated operations,
organisational process reviews and continual improvements based on EHA’s values.
Identify alternative sources of funding.
Risk and Environmental responsibilities:
Promote and contribute to a culture where everyone places safety first.
Identify and report health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property
damage at the workplace.
Comply with EHA’s health and safety and injury management policies and procedures
and actively participate in associated training and programs.
Management of the immunisation teams work health and safety training.
Investigate accidents and incidents and implement remedial and preventative actions.
Assist with the implementation of Risk Management policies, procedures standards,
guidelines, instructions and Risk Assessment Control Plans.
Consult with employees on OHS issues and support OHS Representatives in their
duties and/or requests.
Conduct and document system reviews and inspections of employees and contractors
with assistance from the Management Team and employees.
Confirm and/or deliver proper training and instruction is given to personnel allowing
them to complete jobs safely and without risks to health.
Conduct effective induction of all employees, followed by ongoing training to develop
and maintain a high level of OHS awareness.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: National Police Clearance for those in prescribed positions
Some out of hours work maybe required.
Some work may be off-site, and travel is required.
Must hold a current driver’s licence.

Attendance at immunisation workshops and seminars as required.
Attendance at meetings and training sessions as required
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Qualifications:
Registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and holds a current
practicing certificate
Current First Aid or CPR training certificate
Current drivers licence
Completion of Immunisation the Basics 2 day course or other approved immunisation
training course in the last 3 years (authorisation) or has commenced the recommended
SA Health online immunisation training program
Child-Safe Environment training (Mandatory Notification training)
Training:
On the job and/or external training will be as identified between the Chief Executive
Officer and the incumbent.
Skills:
An ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, members of other
organisations, fellow employees and staff at all levels of the organization.
Strongly developed leadership and supervision skills and the ability to motivate staff.
High standard of verbal and written communication skills including good report writing
skills. Highly developed research skills.
High level of interpersonal skills with a strong customer service ethic.
Strong ability to develop work plans and timelines, and to implement and complete
these successfully both for their own position and those under direct supervision.
Creativity in problem solving including strong ability to develop options and resolution
to problems within short time frames and available resources.
Able to resolve conflicts through consultation, liaison and negotiation.
High level of computer skills.
