What happened?
What do you do when two priorities collide? You are working towards a life where every day is rewarding, productive, and fun. You are determined to create a life where your daily tasks line up to your monthly goals which line up with your overarching values. You are creating your daily schedule with a purpose.
Possible Conflicts
• Being a well respected business woman and your value of spending quality time with your family.
• Practicing self-care vs. supporting a friend at a morning event.
Compromise
No matter how carefully we plan, there will always be some conflicts that arise in the process of planning our businesses and our lives, in the balance between work time and personal time.
Explore a possible compromise.
Compromise
You’re a busy entrepreneur whose daughter has her first recital on the day of your standing team meeting.Think of some ways to compromise:• Change the team meeting to Skype rather than live so you can
eliminate travel time.• Instead of a meeting, plan to distribute your comments via
email.• Delegate the team meeting to your second-in-command.
Which is best?
Sometimes a compromise isn’t possible. When there’s a conflict between two major values, make a decision about which course will serve you and your loved ones best at this moment in time.
You have scheduled a badly needed vacation week. Your stress level and health require the break. Yet a new client can only meet with you one day that week. You can choose between your physical well-being, your service work ethic, and your client’s needs.
What do you do?
Sometimes there is no compromise, and you must do what is best for you!
Which is best?
Plans change
Remember: Nothing is ever set in concrete. You have the freedom to change your mind and your plan if it serves you well to do so.
Conflicting Tasks are a Fact of Life
You are in charge of how you choose to approach this conflict!• Throw your hands up in the air - “Every time I try
to schedule my priorities this happens!“or
• Take a step back, examine your options, and make a decision based on the facts available.
It’s a choice!
