DESCRIPTION

You invested in the creative resume that you handed during your job hunting days in order to have a job, but is that all you want? To get a job and do whatever responsibility that that job has and stay in that position forever? Frankly speaking the population of employees who are fine with what they have right now is almost next to nothing. Of course you want to be in a better and higher position someday right? This does not mean that you are not grateful for your position today, this just means that after a couple of years of hard work, you want and expect growth, progress, promotion and to be candid a salary increase. But just because you have been serving the company forever does not give you a free pass to a higher position, the length of your residency in the company is not the only criteria. It also includes: Having Skills And Knowledge This does not mean sing, dance and act. Companies promotes employees who have and exhibits skills and knowledge for a specific position, of course they can’t just promote anyone and everyone who can type 110 words per minute. Every position requires different skills so if you’re gunning for a higher position in the engineering, accounting or human resources department then start acquiring skills needed for that and make sure you show that so that once the executives are looking for a person to put in that position then you’ll be on their list. Having The Right Attitude Have you ever wondered why there are employees who seem to be doing well and yet they don’t get promoted? That probably because they know they’re good that they make no bones about it and keep on rubbing it to everybody’s face. Let’s face it, those who act like they know everything and don’t need anyone’s help won’t be on the list of highly promotable employees. Long Term Thinker Have you seen a person who gets promoted and then resigns immediately or make actions, decisions and plans as if only today matters? Maybe there’s none or if there is, very few. That’s why companies assess employees thoroughly before promoting them, they wouldn’t want to waste the slot on a person who’s just passing through or don’t think about the consequences of their actions and are not prepared for the future. People’s Person A people’s person sees through and beyond what other people’s needs and wants and seek ways to help them achieve it which is beneficial for a company for they don’t have to constantly give directions, a people’s person will act according to what is necessary to deliver success for the company. This kind of person has the perfect mix of an adaptable, action-taker, self-directed and a leader. Rising from top to bottom may seem hard but if you develop these criteria and approach your job according to these then you’ll embody your creative resume and promotions can be within your reach.
