Procedure...

Plan a strong college preparatory program with courses in English, History, and other humanities subjects, mathematics, including geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and pre-calculus, and physics. Humanities courses will sharpen your communication skills and your ability to put things into context. Art courses - drawing, painting, sculpture, or photography - will be helpful in developing your ability to visualize and conceptualize, which are both important skills to an architect.

A bachelor’s degree is required first and foremost and is known as ‘Part 1’. Usually lasting three years of full-time study, the undergraduate degree in architecture also gives you free student membership to RIBA.On completion of your undergrad degree, ‘Part 2’ can be commenced. This part of the process enhances your overall architectural knowledge and looks at project complexity. Whilst the actual qualification varies between institutions (BArch, Diploma, MArch), the stage generally takes two years of full-time study to complete

. You can choose to study at the same institution, or search for an architecture course at a different university. Most courses are design-based and rely heavily on project work that is undertaken throughout the course. This part of architectural study allows you to enhance key ideas and skills.Architecture students also attend lectures, seminars and tutorials, along with field trips to interesting and important buildings. The final stage of your architectural training, known as ‘Part 3’, requires you to complete a minimum of two years in professional training prior to your final exams.

Architecture is an idea, a plan about the solution that will be built.

To collaborate effectively you will need to communicate the architecture to different audiences using a variety of tools, media and means.

Your job is to create an architecture that will meet the need

Becoming an architect is a

journey toward

becoming one who dreams
