Digital advancements continue to impact how we live, behave and think, urging businesses to change how they operate, and adapt to a fast-changing world.
With computing power almost doubling each year, global businesses are looking at innovative new ways to operate - a process called Industry 4.0 - taking lessons from the start-up movement and the next generation of digital natives.
Technology is making the world move at a faster pace, connecting everything and everyone, anywhere, at anytime. A far cry from the traditional seafarer’s isolated existence, for the next generation of maritime professionals, the equipment they use, and the ships they sail, connectivity is a necessity, not an accessory.
Connecting means opening up the way we operate, being transparent to our customers, our people and the wider world. Collaboration and access trumps adversarial competition and secrecy, which poses a challenge for many traditional shipping leaders.

Big ideas can come from anywhere, but we have to think big to find them... Big data, big analytics and audacious goals have already formed the basis for new maritime companies, and you don’t have to be a start-up company to profit from them.
