  2

WHO?

CHAARG  stands  for  Changing  Health,  Attitudes  +  Actions  to

Recreate  Girls.  By  surrounding  yourself  with  positive,  healthy

influences,  CHAARG  hopes  to  help  girls  maintain  a  healthy  lifestyle.  This

organization  was  founded  original  by  Elisabeth  Tavierne.  CHAARG  is

currently  at  24  universities,  including  Grand  Valley  State  University,

where  the  president  is  Kaitlyn  Bowman.

WHAT?

CHAARG  is  hosting  an  event  for  all  new  members  wanting  to  join.

They  will  be  hosting  a  workout  event  at  the  beach,  free  to  all  new

potential  members  wanting  to  try  out  the  organization  before  joining.

WHERE?

This  event  will  be  located  at  Grand  Haven  State  Park  on  the  beach.

WHEN?

The  new  member  beach  workout  will  be  held  Saturday,  October

10,  2015!

WHY?

CHAARG  Beach  Workout   October  10,  2015   Grand  Haven  Beach

  3

We  want  to  interest  all  new  potential  members  at  Grand  Valley  in

the  organization.

OBJECTIVE

Our  objective  of  holding  this  event  is  to  interest  female  students  at

Grand  Valley  in  the  organization  by  showing  them  a  fun  workout  and

the  benefits  this  club  can  bring  to  you.

TARGET  AUDIENCE

Our  target  audience  is  aimed  at  college-‐aged  girls.  Grand  Valley’s

student  body  is  65%  female,  so  our  target  audience  is  large  for  this

school.

PROMOTIONAL  IDEAS

1. Setting  up  a  table  in  Kirkhof  Center:

For  the  first  promotional  idea,  we  would  set  up  a  table  in

Kirkhof  the  week  before  the  event.  Monday  through

Thursday  from  about  10am-‐1pm  current  members  will  sit

with  the  table  and  hand  out  flyers,  provide  information

about  the  group,  and  show  the  fun  energy  that  the

organization  wants  to  present  to  the  GVSU  community

2. Handing  out  and  posting  flyers:

Besides  handing  out  the  flyers  at  the  table  in  Kirkhof,

current  members  will  walk  around  campus  and  hand  out

flyers  to  students.  Also,  posting  the  flyers  in  buildings

around  campus  that  have  high  traffic  such  as  Kirkhof,  the

library,  Lakes  Halls,  the  bookstore,  and  on  campus  dining

halls.  Another  high  traffic  area  would  be  the  clock  tower,

where  2  or  3  members  can  stand  and  pass  out  flyers  to

passing  students.

3. Sidewalk  Chalk:

Use  sidewalk  chalk  to  advertise  the  event  on  sidewalks

around  campus.  These  will  be  placed  the  beginning  Monday,

October  5.  Current  members  will  keep  up  the  advertisement

throughout  the  week.

4. T-‐shirts:

Have  20  CHAARG  members  wear  t-‐shirts  on  campus  the  day

before  the  event.  This  will  advertise  the  event,  as  well  as

members  telling  others  about  it  at  the  same  time.

5. Twitter:

  5

Create  a  twitter  account  for  the  Grand  Valley  CHAARG

group  specifically,  since  there  is  a  twitter  account  for  the

organization  as  a  whole  but  not  specifically  for  Grand

Valley.  Tweet  about  the  event  and  post  pictures  of  current

organization  meetings  to  show  the  fun  energy  CHAARG

gives  off.  Current  members  can  retweet  these  tweets  so

their  followers  will  also  be  reached.

6. Ad  in  the  Lanthorn:

a. Place  an  ad  in  the  Grand  Valley  Lanthorn  about  the  event

the  week  before  it  takes  place.
