INTRODUCTIONTASK:For the final ici assignment we need to find a specific land within campus area to initiate a small construction project. The size of the land shall be between 900m2(30mx30m)-1200m2(30mx40m). Our task is to propose ONE project that serves combination of 2 items of the following purposes:

1. Recreation area 2. Commercial area 3. Industrial area 4. Agricultural area 5. Tourism area 6. Residential area

Name: MUHAMMAD SHEIK IRFAAN YADUN.My proposal: RECREATION AREAOur mission is to propose a project for A Recreation area.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF LOCATION:Our site is found at USJ 1, Persiaran SubangPermai, 47500 Subang Jaya. It’s an abandon parking which covers around 2.3 acres. The site is situated in the middle of two Hypermarkets, My Din and Giant hypermarket complex.

SITE ANALYSISOur chosen site for this project is located at USJ 1,Persiaran Subang permai,47500 Subang Jaya, in between the two hypermarket My Din and Giant. The site is located in the centre of the town. It directly accesses the main road. The surrounding is very busy, always overcrowded.

The area of the site which I have selected is 30x 30.

RATIONALE

PROPOSAL:We are given the task to observe and analyse a specific empty land to initiate a small construction project. The entire site that we have selected will be utilised for recreation purpose, we will have to clean the land so that to be able to remodelled the soil into grass. The recreation area will consist of 2 circular ponds surrounded with decking in a circular shape, a corner for playing with slides, swing, a ceramic paving, with trees for shading, shrubs, lamps, a huge sand pitch.

REASON:WHY WE PROPOSED TO BUILD A RECREATION AREA?The site is currently purposeless and is an empty space accessible to the whole population of this town. We found that, for such a nice place like ‘’persiaran subang permai’’ with such a modern surrounding like the shopping mall, the Hypermarkets and the huge apartment complex, it would be great to have a Green space for the kids to have a good time. The surrounding is lack of Greenery, therefore the action to renovate the site with a natural approach is necessary.

BENEFITS FOR THECOMMUNITY.Having such an opportunity of implementing a Green space in such a metropolitan place like Persiaran Subang permai, is a revolutionary step for the community, to provide them with a much better and healthier environment. Making them link to the nature and develop a deep sense of integration with the Nature. How the people can use the recreation area and the activities:Relaxing and restingPlayingPicnic sittingMeditatingSeeking for shadeExerciseFootingBird watching

As it is proven by scientists that the presence of Nature improve the quality of the air through the process of photosynthesis. Plants also reduce the temperature of an area providing an atmosphere with pure and cool aeration. It will also provide shade for the needy and will protect them from direct sunlight.

Having a Green space landscape in a Metropolitan area will definitely render the place more aesthetically pleasant and more actively green.

CONCEPTPROPOSED SITE PLAN

DESCRIPTION OF MY PROPOSED RECREATIONAL AREA.First of all let’s start by the ground which is fully flourished by green grass. Then we have the two circular ponds which are outlined by a circular decking floor which people can sit or rest on. There are three benches made of Teak wood which is roughly settled around the ponds. Next to the ponds there is a sand pitch with the children corner adjacent to it. The children corner consists of a swing for 2 people and a slider which end on the sand pitch. The trees act as natural shades for the people so that they can have a good rest.Close to the playing corner there is a cobblestone paving path. The shrubs is placed in a strategic place which will blind the people from outside to see in the park, this will provide more privacy for the youngsters.

AS OUR SITE IS ON A COAL TAR AREA, WE HAVE TO APPLY SOME SPECIAL WAYS TO PRODUCE A BETTER SOIL. SO WE HAVE SELECTED THE LIVING ROOF SYSTEM.

LIVING ROOFIt’s a partially or completely covered with vegetation and a growing medium planted over a waterproofing membrane consist of additional layers such as a root barrier and a drainage and irrigation systems.

Solar lights: This outdoor lighting system uses sunlight to charge the Ni-Cad batteries that power the light fixture. Solar lights automatically switch on at dusk and generally stay lighted for up to 10 hours. This safe, wireless design doesn't use electricity, making solar outdoor lights an excellent option for the yard. Solar deck lights resemble soft candlelight -- creating a romantic glow. Solar-powered batteries need to be replaced about every three years. The LED panels are not replaceable but generally last about 20 years with proper care. Solar lights may not work well in shaded areas or during cloudy weather. However, solar lights emit enough light for adequate path lighting in most regions
