Number of dustbins used for dispatching the waste outside = 5 Capacity of each dustbin =3535.7cu.cm
Daily 17,500cu.cm of waste is thrown outside Such huge quantity of waste is dumped on the street corners or sometimes burnt. as this is not the proper way of disposing the waste Q.C team has taken up waste management of wastes collected in dustbins
The recent shifting of the library to the new premises has thrown light on various books, maps, trophies& cups and other valuable items in mutilated condition in the old library Therefore the Q.C team has taken up dustbin collection and clearing the old library
• 1.Creating awareness on 3 R’ s
• 2.Seggregation of wastes into bio-degradable & non bio – degradable wastes
• 3.Converting wastes into wants
• 4.School as a zero waste zone.
• 5.An atmosphere sans dirt & pollution.
• 6.Spreading the message to promote a healthy & hygienic Madurai
• Ineffective utilization of scarce resources & unscientific production process leads to huge wastes
• Improper disposal of the accumulated wastes is root cause for environment hazard.
• Wastes, if not properly managed, will escalate costs on one hand & adversely affect the health of the society
TVSMHSS
• Treatment of wastes has now become a national problem
• Dumping of wastes on unauthorized places is a serious threat to the society.
• Every member of the society is responsible to reduce waste and evolve a System to recycle such wastes.
•Lack of responsibility.

•The number of trash thrown outside the campus is reduced from 5 bins to 2 bins
•Wastes are segregated into bio&non bio degradable waste
•The bio degradable wastes enter the compost pit
•The Two day exhibition cum sale on thediscarded books from the old library fetched a revenue of Rs.1400.
•The remaining books and articles were arranged
on the basis of specimen copies& write off
categories. They were handed over to the librarian
• The immaculate old library now holds 3 class rooms
• A petty amount of Rs.200 was spent for acquiring micro organism ( an ingredient for manure)
Our Achievements
WE ARE THE FORERUNNERS
Taking the cue from our Q.C, the higher authorities have directed middle level science lab to overhaul the existing condition
Cleaning process in science lab
Discarded specimen on their way out

Q.C members in the cleaning process
Status of old library after implementationOf our Q.C
After implementation
• We developed analytical and communication skills• We learnt problem solving techniques.• We were exposed to PowerPoint presentation.• Our self-confidence grew.• Our creative and logical thinking improved.• Our statistical and graphical skills enhanced.• We met a number of people and learnt the technique of
handling them.• Our desire to maintain our environment increased.• Our team spirit enhanced.

• To inculcate the habit of reducing wastes
•To make the system aware of the problems
•To ensure proper management of wastes

•A dance drama to drive our point
•Collected data and re-data through

• Standardizing through training and curriculum
•Application of 5s principle on waste management
TVSMHSS
1.The students should be taught to put the waste In the appropriate bins
2.Environmental education should be a part of the curriculum
3.Substaff should be monitored for regular collection of wastes & trained on the segregations of such wastes
4. The shredding machine in the nursery campus be used for the whole school
5.Periodical stock taking, cleaning up and writing off old materials should be carried out so that wastes do not accumulate
CONCLUSION
Every thing has got a limit dumping of tonnes and tonnes of wastes with no limit and restrictionswill have an adverse effect in the years to come. Purchasing water bottles was never heard during our fore father’s time ,but today everybody with mineral water bottles. Wearing of air mask is going to be the common sight of the future generations. Dumping of wastes is sure to cause an irreparable damage to our health. Considering all these facts we the Q.C members thought the principle of 3R’s should be cultivate at the school level itself.
