A Sketch for Alternative Yammer Sign Up Process

1) Here I have tried to evaluate the user sign-up flow by taking screenshots and commenting on them. Though, the sign up process looks clean and effective.

2) Then I drafted a different sign-up flow as an alternative. Only a draft, do not suit me in court But reasonable observations and opinions are appreciated in the comments.

Suggestion in addition to the slidesFor devices that have a camera, I would suggest a new option of registration: Register Using Your Business Card. It will allow a user to scan his/her business card with camera. All registration fields will be filled automatically with the information scanned from the business card. A confirmation link will be sent by email. Users then will only need to respond to a confirmation email and set a password. It could be a registration in 3 clicks.

Suggestion:Tune SEO to show in the search results videos and pictures encouraging registration

Effective: Home page gives access to sign-up.Sign-up starts only with one entry field.Home page is simple, positive, with good colours.Objects put in an effective order.Customer logos and testimonials create trust for new customers.

Suggestion:Value proposition should be simplified (e.g. Work with colleagues in your office and branches easily).Yammer logo looks a bit small compared to the bold black headline – could be bigger.

Suggestion:Need to encourage a user to go to mailbox (e.g. You are only one step away from registration).

Effective:Simple.Button provided.Copy and Past link provided.

Effective:Next steps are shown on top.Looks easy to complete.Users do not need to thick a box to agree with Terms of Use.Colleagues’ portraits and names encourage users to continue registration.

Suggestion:Show an empty space when picture is not loaded.Add a Skip button to give an option to skip this step.

Effective:Adding colleagues makes a viral effect.Relevance score is an encouraging tool.

Suggestion:A feature that will allow adding contacts from social networks and contact lists.Skip button needed.

Effective:Good example of “All Company” group already joined button.Graphic icons of groups make joining more attractive.

Suggestion:Only a few groups are shown – scrolling could show more groups available for joining. Skip button needed.

Effective:Profile photo appears automatically without extra clicks. Skip option is provided.

Suggestion:A feature that will allow adding a picture from social networks.Encourage users emphasizing why profile picture is important.

Effective:Easy-to-use interface expected from a social network.Getting Started Box.Message telling that you just joined the network is ice-breaking.

Suggestion:A short tour on how to use the network effectively or a popping up and easily disappearing one-time suggestion to type a status could be useful.Suggestion to download applications is needed.
