For selecting teams, referee chooses two players to be captains, and then flips a coin. The youngest captain then guesses “heads” or “tails” . The winner of the coin toss picks first and then the captains take turns selecting one player at a time until both teams have five players . After selecting teams, place five baskets evenly spaced apart on opposite sides of the playing field start setting the baskets up make sure that each team ’s baskets are aligned evenly from each other. Set five balls in the middle of the playing field evenly spaced and aligned evenly in between opposing team’s baskets . Set a cone or other object as a marker five feet in front of each team’s baskets just outside the playing field on adjacent sides . Players start just in front of an opposing team’s basket evenly aligned between them and the ball. Each individual player must be in front of a different basket. All players then must run towards the balls.(6) After a player passes through the goal line, players may not pass back through the goal line in front of the opposing team’s baskets .(7) Players are allowed to pass through the goal line in front of their team’s baskets .(8) Each player is allowed to carry up to two balls.(9) When a player has a ball in their hand they may not move from where they are standing. However, players are allowed to pivot on one leg.(10) After a player passes the ball by any means necessary other than kicking the ball, the player is allowed to move freely.(11) Player’s may not physically contact other player’s that have a ball in their hand and players on the opposing team .(12) Players are not allowed to go out of bounds.(13) When a ball goes out of bounds, the referee throws the ball towards the middle of the playing field.(14) When a player continually commits fouls, that player is temporarily removed from the game for a minute and sits in the “Seat of Shame” . (15) If player who went to the seat of shame had a ball, then that ball is given to the referee and the referee throws the ball towards the middle of the playing field. Meaningful Action Analysis
(1) Setting Up – Is an action in every game that can be meaningful. In Ball Drop Bonanza there is one part that has meaningful choice when setting up the game and that is when the captains are selecting teammates . You definitely want to try to pick the best players to fit your team style or just the most athletic players.
(2) Running – When it comes to sports, speed usually is one of the deciding factors of who wins the game. In Ball Drop Bonanza you have the choice to either go as fast as you can to win quickly or pace yourself for a long match that will be won based off endurance. The choice it up to the teams and what will best fit their strategies.
(3) Passing – This action has more meaningful choice than any other. Completed passes is the main action that is require to allow you to get your team some points on the board. Players will have to decide how they want to pass the ball. Rolling the ball, throwing the ball high, throwing the ball fast and straight, bouncing the ball off the ground to a teammate, etc… Choosing when to pivot to help open up passes. Players also have to decide who to throw to.
(4) Catching – Is an action that is going to happen throughout the game. Catching isn’t a choice because sometimes the player may drop the ball and have to go chase it down.
(5) Dropping – This action has no meaningful choice because this is the only way that you can deliver the ball to your team’s baskets and score a point.
(6) Winning – Winning is an action that can happens after one team has successfully delivered three ball to their team’s baskets. Winning is not a choice because even if you decide to try your best, you may not always win.
