DesignMap designs web sites, web-based and desktop applications, and supports in-house product development teams that do the same.We are Designers, not Artists. We believe in Logic. We develop Systems. We know that to be successful our design must not only be delightful and innovative but also viable and buildable. This balanced methodology is what makes us tick, and what make us passionate about design, your business and your users.
Our ServicesWe don’t start drawing pictures of screens, we start by deeply
understanding problems, issues and information and creating a
visual record of that understanding so we can get shared agree-
ment, shared idea of the problem, the goal, and the solution.
Then we put our skills and services together in a way that meets
your particular needs.

Our WorkWe've worked with everything from giant enterprise companies
like Cisco to tiny consumer startups. Our experience has taught
us that our clients don't just need excellent, thoughtful, user-
centered designs. They also need a design team that understands
that the project has to be successful within a business environ-
ment before it can be successful for the business and users.
We believe that doing the right thing for our client means not only
delivering great design work, but also understanding and address-
ing the social, technological, economic and political environment
in which a business functions.

Cisco’s Emerging Technology Groups (ETGs) ask the question, “Where is Cisco going?” and then turns the answers into real products. In Cisco’s words, the role of the ETGs are to, “follow technology innovations to see how they might serve the company’s needs.” We’ve had the opportunity to work on several of Cisco’s ETGs projects, such as Digital Media, a digital signage and desktop video solution, and TelePresence.
In September 2007, IAC acquired GarageGames and their web property InstantAction.com. We provided design, strategy and vision to this web-based gaming portal. Our contributions involved creating storyboards to help visualize an idea, conceptualizing game interfaces, strategizing and modeling the relationship between the platform and various games, and doing blue skies of what InstantAction.com could be in two years.
Wells Fargo tasked us with creating a strategy for achieving a best-in-class online banking experience based on a user-centered design (UCD) process. Our work detailed that process, evangelized it to the organization, and piloted and proved its effectiveness on key initiatives. The strategy identified tools, new roles within the team, integration points across teams, and a soup-to-nuts design process that was developed specifically to be successful in the unique environment of the Wells Fargo online division.
