“How to Create a Blog Using Word Press”

Ok let’s get started. Go to http://www.wordpress.com and click Get Started.Enter email address, username and password. For the Blog address, try andchoose a name for your blog that has the name of your topic in the name.

example: tiffanisskinnyfiberreviews. (This helps Google see it and rank itfaster)

Scroll down and click Create Blog

It will walk you through a few steps:

Step 1 Set up your blog

Enter your Blog Title and Tagline then click Next Step

Step 2

Choosing a Theme. I use Twenty Ten , I would suggest using it as well toget started. You can change the Theme at anytime and as many times as youwant. There are tons of free ones available. (you do not have to do anythingat this time) We will walk through setting up Twenty Ten after setupClick next step

Step 3 Customize Twenty Twelve

Do not do anything here just click Next Step

Step 4 Share with Family and Friends

Click Next Step, you can share with family and friends later after you startposting

Step 5 Create your first post Click Next Step

Once you reach this page you will want to go to your email box and confirmyour email address

Once you confirm your email address you will be brought back to this pageOn this page you will want to click on the Dashboard link that is under yourblog name

This is what your Dashboard should look like.

There are two different types of blogs:

One is just a one page blog that has all the posts showing from newest tooldest on the same page.

Then there is one that has a main page (Welcome page) and several pageslinked to it, each with its own topic. It is totally up to you as to which oneyou want to use. I use the one with multiple pages so that I can separate allthe different topics.

It does not matter which one you start with. You can just start with the onepage and then add pages to it later if you want and you never have to startover.

This one is mine

We are going to start with Appearance first

On the left hand side you will see a list of tabs. Scroll down until you seethe Appearance tab once you click on it you will see a list of things that willbe listed under it.

After you click on Appearance you will see a list of things you can do tochange the appearance of your blog.

The first thing you want to do is pick a Theme. For this tutorial we are goingto use Twenty Ten. Once you click on the Theme tab you will want to scrolldown through the list of Themes until you come to the Twenty Ten Theme.Once you find it hover mouse over it and select Activate. It will show youthe theme again and you will hit Activate again and a small box will appearthat asks if you want to customize it. Close that box, this will take you backto the dashboard.

The next tab under Appearance is the Customize Tab.

Click on it, you will see your blog and there will be a blue tool bar on theright hand side. For Twenty Ten and the other free themes the only thingsyou can customize is the Front, Site Title and Header. The Header is whatyou would click on to upload a new banner pic.

Click the back button to go back to the Dashboard

Once back in the Dashboard click the Widgets tab. This is where you canadd different things to your blog, such as Facebook, twitter, blog follow andother great tools that let people interact and stay connected to your blog.

If you want to add your Facebook fan page to your blog you would scrolldown the list of Widgets until you find the Facebook like box and drag it tothe Primary Widget Area. Make sure you have your Facebook Fan PageLink so that you can put it in the Facebook widget.

You would do the same with Twitter timeline and Follow Blog. You can addany of the other Widgets you would like to use to your blog as well. I use theFacebook and Follow Blog widgets.

Once you get the widgets that you want all set up click on the Backgroundtab over on the left hand side in your Dashboard.

This is where you can change the background color of your blog. You canalso upload a photo to have it also be the background.

Ok now that you have the Theme set up and the way you want it let’s movedown the list and click on Settings

You will want to click on the General Tab. Here you will be able to changeyour Site Title if you wanted too and the Tagline. You can also upload of picof yourself that will be added to your Blog link in Word press, it will alsoshow in Google Search.

Now that you have your Blog all set up and ready we can now start postingand adding pages.

Click on the Posts tab under that tab click on Add New

Enter the Title for your post. Make sure to put your topic in the title.

Now to write your first post, If you are going to use want a Welcome page and add pagestoo it then this is where you would Welcome visitors and tell about yourself and whatyour blog is about.

Be personal; share a little about yourself or a lot it is up to you. You want people to feelcomfortable and interested in what you have to say.

You can also add photos and links to this post as well as all your pages.

To do this you will want to click the Media tab right above the tool bar

Click the Select files to upload a photo from your computer

You can add links to your Photos or to a Text. For Example; you can have CLICK HEREas a link to go to one of your SF websites.

To add a link to a photo, you would click the photo (it will turn blue) then click on theicon on the tool bar that looks like a paper clip

Make sure to put the http:// in front of your Website link then click update.

To add a link to Text

Type CLICK HERE or JOIN US or ORDER NOW, Highlight the text andclick the link tab (paperclip) Enter the website link just like you did for thephoto and click update.

Once you have your post the way you want it you will need to Publish it.

To do this just click the Publish button to the right of the Post box

Congratulations you have created your very first Blog post

Now that you have your first post you are going to want to add Keywordsalso known as Tags these are the words that people search for in Google.They will help get your Blog ranked on Google Search. Make sure that thewords you use are also throughout your blog and in the title (if possible).Google sends out their spiders to search through blogs and websites insearch of Keywords that are being searched the most. Once these spiders

find these keywords they start to rank your site. The other way to get yoursite ranked on Google Search is to have comments on your blog. We willdiscuss this a little later.

To add the Tags (keywords) to your blog click the Tags tab on the left handside under Posts.

If your blog is about Skinny Fiber you would want to make sure to addSkinny fiber, Skinny fiber reviews, and Skinny fiber real reviews as Tags.You can also add Weight Loss, All Natural, and Health Supplements.

Pages

When you click on the Pages tab for the first time you will see that there isalready a page in there called About. You can keep this page and writeabout yourself and your blog and what you would like people to know aboutyou. If you do not want to have an about page you can edit it and change thetitle.

Creating Pages is the same as creating a Post. The page links will run acrossthe top of your blog and you can have as many as you want. I have one forBusiness Opt, Skinny fiber users, Ingredients, Side effects vs Detox, and the90 day challenge.

Once you have your page the way you want it you will want to make sure toClick the Update tab on the right hand side of the page box

To see how your blog will look once you are finished with the Post and allyour pages click on the name of your blog in the upper left hand corner

Now it is time to get your link out to everyone you know, post it on yourtimeline and in your group and ask everyone to check it out and to pleaseleave a comment. When you get comments Word Press will send you anemail letting you know. Make sure you follow the link in the email andapprove the comments, also make sure to reply to the comments. Word Pressautomatically stops all spam comments. The more comments you have onyour blog the faster it will rank with Google Search.
