Our Directors
Dave Rooney Design Director London
Creative Director and founding partner of LXA, Dave knows how to make space work. With over 30 years’ international experience, he has been responsible for award-winning design solutions in numerous market sectors. In particular, he has built a reputation as an industry leader in restaurant design.As well as his love of design, Dave’s success is due to his ex-cellent communication and presentation skills. Currently, he is leading the development of our London practice, while dividing his creative time between the European and Middle Eastern markets.Before joining LXA, Dave was a director of DesignLSM. His mantra is that his job is his passion, but outside work he’s a keen golfer (he says he’s rubbish) and an enthusiastic rugby coach.
Karen KonsalAssociate DirectorDubai
Karen joined us in 2013 as an associate director in Dubai, hav-ing graduated with her architectural degree in 2004. She had already gained extensive and diverse experience on high-pro-file projects in both the UK and America, working with some of the world’s most renowned architectural firms. With us, Karen has been responsible for some exciting work, and has built a talented and effective design team in Dubai. She has the rare ability to think ‘Big Picture’, but also a keen eye for the finest detail. Most importantly, she leads her team not only to create beautiful designs, but also to complete projects to the highest quality. In doing so, she commands huge respect from clients, contractors and co-consultants alike.Before LXA, Karen worked with firms including Building Design Partnership (UK) and Pelli Clarke Pelli (USA).
Sarah-Jane GrantDirectorDubai
Sarah-Jane joined us in 2010. She became a director in 2012, due to her quick success at developing and creating trusted and profitable customer relationships within our Middle Eastern markets. Sarah-Jane is a natural leader and creative thinker, and her commercial acumen and success can be seen in the portfolio of clients and work we enjoy today.Sarah-Jane holds a BA (Hons) degree in Science and Media Studies, and has a real passion for the food and beverage and hospitality sectors. Before joining us, she was the Marketing & Budget Manager at Alpha Airports Group, where she focused on commercial and marketing relationships with top duty free retail and catering brands. Before that, she was a Business An-alyst for Virgin Wines.

David ReesManaging Director London
David is a Chartered Architect and project manager with over 20 years’ experience of running projects and companies. He set up our company in London in 2000, and our Dubai office in 2006.Over the years, David has personally managed many success-ful projects in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He’s espe-cially proud of his successes in the residential and hospitality sectors.David continues to manage his own projects with real enthu-siasm and energy. He lives and breathes this business, and is happy to call himself a workaholic. His wide range of skills includes design, project management and construction man-agement, and he has a good understanding of quantity survey-ing. With these abilities and knowledge, he contributes widely to LXA projects.
Richard PartonDirector London
Richard is a founding partner of LXA and a qualified quantity surveyor. After graduating from the University of Southampton, he obtained a Masters degree in Construction Cost Manage-ment and Project Management from the University of Reading. Shortly after, he became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
With a background in cost and project management, Richard has worked across a variety of sectors within the construction industry, and has particular experience in hospitality, educa-tion, commercial and residential property. He is well versed in all construction and development procurement routes, and has a detailed knowledge of construction contracts and contract administration. His ‘can do’ attitude and natural people skills ensure happy clients who come back time and time again.

Intersect by Lexus DIFC - Dubai
Conceived in Tokyo, Japan, Intersect by Lexus is a concept store in the Dubai International Financial Centre. Devised by renowned Jap-anese designers Wonderwall for Toyota, the concept is described as
“neither a dealership, nor a traditional retail space”.

Grand Hyatt - The CollectiveDubai
The Collective comprises several different cuisines under one roof. The interior design celebrates this fusion of foods. Upon entering
through the winding brick wall facade, guests are met by the color-ful and fresh scenery of the different food stations.

Salero Tapas & Bodega Kempinski Hotel, Dubai
We created a modern rustic feel, using ceramic tiles and original works of art from all over Spain. To ensure authenticity, we asked
Spanish branding agency, RUN Extrabold, to design the graphics – and they responded with the powerful use of red, black and white
print on wood and craft paper.

MNKY HSEMayfair, London
LXA acted as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors on the new MNKY HSE restaurant and bar now open on Dover Street. A chal-
lenging project at lots of levels, from the basement dig/restructuring featuring 110 party wall awards to the high-quality fit-out, and the
FF+E procurement.

The Music Room Al Habtoor City - Dubai
We are currently developing a groundbreaking concept for a stand-alone music venue in Dubai, to be called The Music Rooms.. The operation will be the first of its kind in the region, and will make an outstanding contribution to Dubai’s burgeoning music scene. Much of this impact will be down to the design, which we’re very excited to be involved
with.

Rose & Crown Al Habtoor City - Dubai
The Rose & Crown was originally designed to replace the good old Du-bai staple The Red Lion, but as the design evolved and the site spanned over 2 floors, the concept changed. Victorian tiles work their way from the entrance to around the bar and are surrounded by chevron hard-
wood floor bringing in some pattern and colour to the warm wood tones.

us to turn the Heineken Bar concept into reality across a range of commercial settings, we were delighted to get involved.

Bringing the ‘outside-in’, the design approach for the interior builds on the landscape theme of the surrounding parkland, whilst draw-ing from the strong regional influence of the locale. Appointed by a
