DESCRIPTION
On my blog. A visual story on underground #fashion, punk #tees from Dada to Vivienne Westwood. DIY at http://wp.me/p1UV8C-1z4 Pop culture. The totality of ideas, perspectives, attitudes, images, philosophy, music, design, art and creativity gain popularity across the world in a faster way than ever before. Things and ideas become the standard of mass consumption in real time. Where does the story of the T-shirt start? According to some the beginning of the T-shirt is credited to the navy. The US Navy that is, while other historians say it was The Swabs in the British Royal Navy who wore them under their uniforms in World War, some even suggest it was the French Army. American soldiers liked the comfortable lightweight cotton undershirt compared to the wool uniforms American soldiers wore and the rest is history. Tees pop culture icon number one T-shirts are a visual history of pop culture of military underwear and blank cotton canvases for self-exploring artistic and political, humorous, sarcastic and brand messages in the total history of fashion. T-shirt has become the icon of pop cultures of all decades and is denim jeans mirror of the upper body language, but in addition to this it has been wearied from everything as suits, weddings, punks, artistes, political events, military action to clever brand awareness marketing. To cover the whole story about tees would be a big full-time job for years The T-shirt history is impossible to do within my abilities to research so I have used some really good sources of information as well as a few of my personal favorite tees. Unfortunately as I over the years have from time to time a stall open at some market I sold a few of them. Unfortunately I sold a few of my best tees on the Saturday and Sunday market Amongst them some hand printed and exclusive tees made by Malcolm Mc Laren in the Sex Pistols. Others have been sold as The Who signed tees from the 70’s, the unique messages from The The, Bauhouse, Krafrtwerk German editions, Dead Kennedy’s early San Francisco Tees and a few well know street art artists and Gallery artistes from NY, London, and Tokyo to China. Worn out Levi’s 501 big E and old band tee is my favorite The common message is that a tee shirt has become my closest friend together with a pair of worn out Levi’s 501 jeans. Two Pack Tees from Levi’s was my favorite even not the original tees, but I used to see how long I could wear them and later on I did spray paint one off as Sonic Youth and my best one for a Fugazize concert in the early 90’s. Dada was punk before punk came in 1975. Punk fashion is the clothing, hairstyles, cosmetics, jewelry, and body modifications of the punk subculture. Punk fashion varies widely, ranging from Vivienne Westwood designs with styles modeled on bands like The Exploited to pop based Green Day. Punk started before and with the Dada movement and was soon followed by Salvador Dali.

It’s easy to make a dirty punk tee. But please do not buy ready made from large retail chains as they are often of bad quality and harmful to the environment. Find a few second hand.
