Why I love clutch bags?As the owner of over 20 clutch bags ranging from 80’s black patent leather to gold studded envelopes, I feel there is no one more versed in expelling the virtues of clutch bags than me. I love them.
Why I love clutch bags?Clutch bags are in my opinion the most versatile bag around and can take an ordinary looking outfit from frump to fabulous just by their inclusion. Whilst I am aware they are not always the most practical of bags, they do make the greatest statement. I like to think of clutch bags more like accessories rather than functional items. I believe they are there to make a statement rather than to carry your phone.
Why I love clutch bags?Due to their design clutch bags make you stand differently than over the shoulder bags, they can draw the attention up if carried under the arm or can elongate the torso if carried in the hand. Small clutch bags, which fit in the hand, are perfect for occasions where you are looking more for practicality than to make a statement. This is usually because the outfit you are wearing makes enough of a statement on its own. Think ball gowns and Oscars type dresses; clutches are kept small but are exquisitely decorated.
Why I love clutch bags?Now change location and think business meeting. A simple blouse and pencil skirt combo can be taken from high street to catwalk by the addition of a clutch. They exude power and class. They also emit a different persona than that of your ordinary handbag. They aren’t full of tissues and receipts instead they hold the essentials, lipstick, phone, keys. They evoke the idea of being in control; they are slick, stylish and effortless.
Why I love clutch bags?For me, clutch bags are always, whether you intend it or not, statement pieces. Like a good necklace or strong heel they say something about you without you ever having to open your mouth. Whether on trend designs in bold contrasting colours and patterns or in simple tan leather or black suede they can take an outfit from ordinary to extraordinary in an instant.
