MISSION

To provide affordable and viable energy storage and energy

management systems without the need for subsidy

GENERATE LOCALLY, STORE LOCALLY, USE LOCALLY

Page 3: 11 Wattstor, Mark Smith and Peter Cunningham

“Solar and Wind Power systems are useless when the sun

isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. They also usually

generate their energy “at the wrong time”. A WATTSTOR

silences these criticisms.

Started January 2013

First 18 months spent field testing and product development

Validation from Exeter University Environmental Sciences Unit

Winner – Best New Product, Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2013

Launch funding raised via local crowdfunding and the Seed

Enterprise Investment Scheme in October 2014.

Commercial launch of business on 1st October 2014.

Second round of fund raising under way to pursue further R&D

WATTSTOR TARGET MARKET

Phase 1 - Domestic

Initially this is the sub 30 KW system capacity market comprising 600,000 + FiT

(Feed in Tariff) registered renewable power systems in the UK alone with more

arriving daily.

66000+ systems in the South West.

Why sub 30 Kw capacity?

Below deemed 50% export threshold, maximum financial return

Current system suits single phase properties

Phase 2 - Commercial

With the release of our Wattstor IMP plus field trials of commercial inverter chargers

we will undertake larger installations as well as grid energy storage opportunities.

WATTSTOR IMP Energy Storage Options

The IMP can be configured to control any load so energy can be

stored in any way, such as:

Heat & Hot Water – via Immersion/ Calorifier or Heat Pump

Cold - Refrigeration

Compressed Air

Spring, Flywheel etc.

Pump Storage

Hydrogen Generation

Anything’s possible!

Domestic Test ResultsSite 1: Single Phase Install, 6kWp Solar PV

Pre-installation:

10000kWh imported annually (Large electric only home)

The electricity import in July 2012 was 534 kWh with solar PV only.

Post Installation

6000kWh imported annually (40%/ £600 annual reduction)

85% -90% self consumption of Solar PV

In summer months, the daily electricity import from the utility company averaged 3.5 kWh (costing 53p) with some days at zero import

“In July 2013 with a WATTSTOR fitted this was 107.9 kWh …….. an 80% reduction in … import … during summer periods of high solar generation.”

(University of Exeter Environmental Sciences Institute – report published in full on website www.wattstor.com)
