INTRODUCTIONCurrently, most schools and institutions do have difficulties to monitor

their students’ security and attendance system using either RFID Card or biometrics alone, where the procedures are inefficient in monitoring the

students’ security and managing their attendance.

INTRODUCTION• Recent developments in information and communication technology leads to

speedy growth of technology particularly in security and attendance systems to improve drawback and any glitch of errors

• However, the introduction of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and integration with the BIOMETRIC FINGER SCANNER serves as a substitute to former authentication systems such as bar code, biometrics, and smart tag technologies.

• Hence, fusion of these technology will produce a more effective and reliable system on students security on attendance.

PROBLEM STATEMENT• The preceding methods of monitoring students’ security and attendance has some

setbacks. These methods are clearly not efficient as it waste time and consumes the users’ energy in term of carrying out.

• There is a tendency that some students might miss their turn in signing the attendance sheet as they did not have the attendance sheet in the manual method.

• Also, for the class attendance, it is a general challenge that students impersonate for roll calls and this issue have set a platform for less acknowledgement for lecturers’ efforts, thus given rise to bad academic performance as students take advantage of such. (Tracy Hofmann, 2013).

• Likewise, it is the same limitation that goes to punch card system. The employees (workers) has to queue up for quite a longer time as each person have to punch the card and put it in the slit provided according to names. To summarize all, previous systems give drawback in term of enactment.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES• To improve security measures for accessing facilities and improve users’

focus on attendance as this has been accompanying to rising issues today.

• To saves time in almost no energy required in carry out.

• To eliminate queueing for signing of attendance.

• To reduce manipulation or impersonation as a result of enhancing the monitoring system also has been researcher’s basic goal.

LITERATURE REVIEW• Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is the technology that is slated to replace barcodes

in library applications. It is a form of identification that is contact-less and does not require line of sight. The technology, though new to libraries, has been in use in other sectors for more than a decade.

• A. Chachra, (2003) in his discussion describes the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as one of the rapid leading technologies which can be fussed to a pre-existing system to improve and for fast recovery and accurate data.

• The RFID Solution is a revolutionary application of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) technology. Currently, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has been widely used in different fields includes; medical surgery, animal identification, baggage handling, library services and real time location tracking (F. Sam, 2009). According to yoon, Chung and Lee (Won-ju, et al., 2010),

LITERATURE REVIEWThe fingerprint technology is based on two electronic capturing methods:

optical and capacitive. • Optical method of fingerprint technology requires the users to place their finger

on a glass substrate at which point an internal lightening source from the fingerprint device is projected onto the finger and image is then captured by a charged-couple device (CCD). (Randall, 2001).

• Capacitive method of fingerprint technology makes fingerprint imaging available to the masses by making fingerprint devices (hardware) less expensive, more reliable and compact in size. The procedure of this method, works with the electric field around the fingerprint using a sensor chip and array of circuits (Idris, 2010).

METHODS• In this research paper, the researcher considered qualitative method

due to the aim of this work, which is to deliver an improving security for the classroom attendance related problem in an institution.

• As qualitative method is a method of fact findings that consist of an investigation that seeks answers to a research question,

• Therefore, qualitative method will be use due to its flexibility in obtaining the required data that will aid the researcher in design and implementation of this work.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN• This research aims at covering a particular session with access gate.

And at entrance each user’s identification will be confirmed and verified with RFID card and finger print.

• While entering and leaving class each student RFID card will be read by reader and student details will be shown on screen with an addition to total number of student present.

PROPOSED SYSTEM FLOWCHART• This explains the paradigm in which the proposed system will follow

suite in operation.

• Hence this research study has introduced forth a proposed flowchart for operation from the time of recognition and identification from classroom door till the time of final authentication of students exit. Below is the flow chart for the design system.

EXPECTED OUTCOME• As the expected outcome is to have a time attendance and access

control system, the research work aims at that and as such will identify users by their fingerprints.

• The fused system will have the ability to carry off multiple numbers of transactions as the case may be.

• The system will also identify its users by RFID card detection additional to fingerprint reading option which is default.

• The system is expected to successfully simulate the attendance record.

Conclusion  The researcher’s knowledge in attendance and monitoring systems using Biometric technology introduced the work and review on some journals to address some issues related to security and impersonation. Some justifications have been made with regards to this research work on several review journals, but the obvious reasons for integrating the biometric technology with any of the trendy security technologies are rising. The selected topic was based on the fusion/integration of the Biometric technology and the RFID technology. The researcher in this case chose fusion for reliability reason. Central database in the proposed system guarantees that every user can access their allocated sessions only and any other region that is marked for general entry. This prevents loss of valuable data and reduces chaos at retrieval point. Biometric recognition and RFID technology further improves security of the attendance and monitoring system. In summary of the proposed system, the researcher has resolved the general scope of Why Automation is necessary? To save on time spent for daily roll calls, to avoid manual errors, to obtain accurate attendance means exact IN time, to avoid record search time, when we want to see any student’s attendance performance, to avoid reporting time used for preparing the attendance percentage reports at the end of the year, and finally to have professional and global look of the organization.
