REGULATIONS & CHEER RULES

TRYOUTS

Article 1.

Section 1.01 Cheerleaders will not be subjected totryouts

Section 1.02 A participant shall be considered avoluntary cut when:

A. They do not furnish the required AntelopeValley Cowboys Cheer chapter paperwork orfees by the designated due date(s)

B. They no longer attend practices or games asrequired.

C.They continue to have disciplinary Challengesthat are disruptive or dangerous to the teamand or team activities.

REGISTRATIONArticles 2.

Section 2.01

Cheerleading registration is open all year longbut may stop at the discretion of the chaptersfounder, president and or cheer director.

Section 2.02 All participating cheerleaders musthave a completed registration packet on file.Registration packets consist of

A. Up to date physical for the current cheerseason

B. Proof of identity and age ( Copy of originalBirth certificate and id/passport)

C. Parent code of conductD. Waiver/Release for communicable diseases

including COVID-19E. Concussion information sheetF. Opioids fact sheetG. AAU membership card (16.00 additional fee)

ELIGIBILITYArticle 3.Section 3.01 Scholastic Requirement- Everycheerleader shall be encouraged to maintain asound scholastic record.Section 3.02 Cheerleaders that fail to uphold atleast a c’ average (2.0 ) will need to sit outgames and or competitions until they meet the2.0 scholastic requirement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Article 4.Section 4.01 No cheerleader shall participate orbe registered / certified if she/he has notattained and does not sustain a sound physicalcondition.Section 4.02 The attainment of a sound physicalcondition shall be attested to by a duly qualifiedphysician on the contract which shall remain onfile with Antelope valley Colts Cheer.Section 4.03 No participant is permitted toenter any type of physical training without firstobtaining health certification.

AGE REQUIREMENTSArticle 5.Section 5.01 Cheerleader Age – 5 to 14Section 5.02 Mascots Age- 3 to 4years old

UNIFORMSARTICLE 6.

Section 6.01 Uniform Definition: the distinctiveclothing worn by members of the sameorganization or body or by cheerleader.

Section 6.02 when attending games andcompetitions uniforms should be clean and intackedSection 6.03 Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheerwill not be responsible for replacing lost, stolenor damaged uniforms, pom poms ectSection 6.04 orders will be placed once thecheerleader has been measured, shoe sizes willbe given by the parent.Section 6.05 Parents are responsible forproviding correct sizes, parents will incur allcharges that may occur with reordering andreplacing cheer related items.

TEAM OFFICIALSARTICLE 7.Section 7.01 Coaching Ethics- A cheer coachmust be twenty (20) years of age to be a head

cheer coach. An assistant cheer coach must beeighteen(18) years of age or older. A trainermust be between the ages of fourteen(14) andseventeen (17)years of age (proof of age may berequired) administrative staff must be at leasttwenty-one (21) years of age.Section 7.02 OfficialCheer PositionsFounder , President, Cheer director, Assistantdirector, Welcome committee ( should consist ofcheer moms but not restricted to)social mediacoordinator, cheer coordinator , cheer recruiter,cheer tressure’

fundraiser coordinator, mascot coach,6ucoach,8u coach,10u coach, 12u coach, 14ucoach, trainer.

Section 7.03 All coaches may have an assistantcoach if there is a need for one.Section 7.04 All additions to staff should berequested formally through email to the

Antelope Valley Cowboys President or CheerDirector.

Section 7.02 These individuals that hold officialpositions may be barred from further participationwith Antelope Valley Colts Cheer by the violation ofany of the following:

(A) cheer coaches shall have completeresponsibility for the conduct and activitiesoff their team and shall be held accountableby Antelope Valley Cowboys CheerAdministrative Staff.

(B) Cheer coaches shall refrain from smokingand drinking during games and practices.

(C) Cheer coaches will not criticize cheerleadersin front of spectators, but reserveconstructive criticism until in private or inthe presence of the team.

(D) Cheer coaches will not criticize, argue ,fight,belittle the administrative staff,cheerleaders, parents, other coaches, or the

opposing team by word of mouth, gesture,or derogatory cheers.

(E) Coaches will refrain from using any abusiveand profane language before anyoneconnected with the game.

(F) Cheer coaches will set an example inpersonal appearance at all time. Polo shirt,Team T-shirt,Warm-up Suit Shorts or Skourts no more

than 4” above the knee (ABSOLUTELY – noshort-shorts).

(G) Cheer coaches will not participate in anyAntelope Valley Cowboys Cheer functionswhile under the influence of alcohol and/ ordrugs.

CHEER COACHES & ADMINISTRATIONSRESPONSIBILITIESArticle 8.Section 8.01 Cheer Coaches may administerdisciplinary action after they have first

contacted administrative staff about theproblem and the best resolution for it.Section 8.02 All Antelope valley Colts Cheerstaff shall display their badges at allpractices, games, and team functions.Section 8.03 staff members will be on avolunteer basis. No cheer coach, assistant,or trainer will be paid for their time orservices in performing their duties.Section 8.04 Cheer Director is responsiblefor leading the planning and execution of allcheerleader events and activities includingbut not limited to auditions, competition,poster shoot, meet and greet, end of theyear banquet, alumni events, cheer prepclinics and team building retreats. Collectingall cheer registration information anduploading it to the system, creating anddisseminates checklists, timelines andlayouts for designated athletic eventsincluding game days and competition.

Section 8.05 Assistant Director isresponsible for providing admirativesupport and ordering cheer related suppliesand assist the cheer director in thee abovetask. As well as finding sponsorships for theAntelope Valley Colts Cheer.Section 8.06 Fundraiser Coordinator isresponsible for coming up with fundraiserideas, and listing items needed forfundraising. Leads the fundraiser events,coordinates with the directors which daysand times the fundraiser should be held.Section 8.07 Social Media Coordinator isresponsible for posting pictures updates onupcoming events.Section 8.08 Cheer recruiter is responsiblefor recruiting cheerleaders and not limitedto passing out flyers and making cardsSection 8.09 Cheer Coordinator isresponsible for coordinating with theparents to see who is willing to bring snackswaters lunches etc. for games, practices,

and outings(weekly) Take parent orders forcustomize colt’s gear. Working closely withthe parents and welcome committee tomake sure all order and parents’participation is running smoothly.Section 8.10 Cheer Coach/trainer isresponsible for being a professional thatinspires and leads cheerleaders inconditioning and training, performingphysical aerobatics and creating routines. Aswell as train cheerleaders on how toexecute stunts and be knowledgeable onthe YCADA guidelines for levels one to fouron sideline youth cheer.

Section 8.10 Cheer Treasure is responsiblefor making sure fundraiser goals are beingmet and coordinates with fundraisingcoordinator to set the goals for saidfundraisers.Section 8.11 Welcome Committee (shouldconsist of cheer moms but not restricted to)

is responsible for new parent meet andgreats and boost up parent moral.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS/ROSTERSArticle 9Section 9.01 Antelope Valley CowboysCheer director will be required to upload allparticipants and coach’s information intothe sports engine in ordered to be certified.Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheer will receivea certified redline roster to include in teambooks.Section 9.02 Replacements or additions to ateam roster will not be accepted afterestablished cheer certified day or no latterthan 2 weeks before the first game.

Section 9.03 Certification- Procedures andthe date for certification shall beestablished by Antelope Valley Colts Cheer.

Coaches Certified RostersArticle 10.Section 10.01 All Antelope Valley CowboysCheer Staff ( directors, coaches, assistants,coordinators, and team trainers) must be oncertified team rosters.Section 10.02 Antelope Valley CowboysCheer Directors can be a head cheer coach.

MeetingsArticle 11.

Section 11.01 All Antelope Valley CowboysCheer Staff shall attend a mandatory cheercoach’sclinic, annually. The dates and time to bedetermined by the cheer director.Section 11.02 Parents, Cheerleaders and AVCCstaff must attend all meetings.

Practice SessionsArticle 12Section 12.01 Daily sessions shall not exceedtwo (2) hours in duration per day, and totalpractices shall not exceed 8-hours per week.Section 12.02 Competition Practice should notexceed ten (10) hours per week.

GENERAL CHEERLEADER RULES

Article 13.

Section 13.01 Cheer Directors have the authority todemand complete cooperation from all parents,cheer staff, coordinators, trainers, and cheerleaders.

Section 13.02 The Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheerpresident and founder has the power to overturnany disciplinary decision made by the cheer director.

Section 13.03 cheerleaders will not be able to wearjewelry, except for post stud earrings, religiousmedals that can not be removed or medicalemergency bracelets.

Section 13.04 no cheer or hand jesters, derogatoryto the opposing team or chapter may be used. Thisincludes any cheers which have profanity lacedlanguage or lyrics that is considered offensive.

Section 13.05 Participants shall maintain standardsof conduct in keeping with the spirit and integrity ofthe Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheer.

Section 13.06 a cheer director, cheer coach and oran assistant cheer coach must remain in thedesignated area for cheering during all games. (atleast one of the above) The designated area isbetween the-yard line.(when both teams arecheering on the same side of the field).

Section 13.07 An Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheerdirector , cheer coach and or assistant cheer coachthat’s on that’ squads’ roaster must be present at allpractices( at least one of the above) and on the field

with the cheerleaders at all games with the team’scontract book.

Section 13.08 there should always be one adultcoach (18 and older) and one additional coach ortrainer per 6 cheerleaders maximum, on the fieldduring practices, games, and team functions.

Section 13.09 each competing cheer squads willalternate turns doing a cheer, unless agreed uponby both sides.

Section 13.10 Cheerleaders and Cheer staff shall notbe in the football players bench or sideline at anytime during games.

Section 13.11 cheerleaders are prohibited fromhorse playing with Colts football players duringpractice and games.

Section 13.12 cheerleaders must be in matchinguniforms to participate in cheers in the cheeringarea.

Section13.13 a single cheer shall not exceed three(3) minutes in duration. Each squad can only do onethree (3) minutes cheer per half.

Section 13.14 cheerleaders, cheer staff and parentswill refrain from the use of profanity duringpractices and games.

Section 13.15 No drugs or alcohol use or fordistribution at games, cheer practices and orAntelope Valley Colts Cheer events.

Section 13.15 Cheer directors, coaches,coordinators or assistants are not responsible fortaking cheerleaders to and from games, practicesand or events

Section 13.16 braking said rules can be punished bybeing exited from the program ,suspension ,fines,banned from games practices and or events.

STAFF CERTIFICATION

Article 14

Section 14.01 Directors, coordinators and allcheer coaches and assistants’ coaches mustpass a background check, completeconcussion training, cpr and first aidcertification, positive coaching alliancecertification, obtain an aau membership andcomplete staff registration.

STUNTINGArticle 15.Section 15.01 teams shall not participate inany form of stunting prior to the annual

coaching clinic. The date of the clinic will bedetermined by the cheer director.(a) Stunting at any time during a game is

only permitted at prep level or below,and should be performing using safetymeasures, including spotters.

(b) All single leg stunts, tosses, andextension stunts are prohibited.

CHECK-INArticle 16.Section 16.01 directors, coordinators,coaches and assistant coaches cancheck in the opposing teams’participants.Section 16.02 check in rules: (a) no nailpolish (b) no nail should exceed thelength of nail bed.(c)kick pants/briefsMust be always worn(d) hair should bepulled up and away from the face.

GAME DAY

Article 17.Section 17.01 Cheerleaders shall be intheir designated cheer area one(1) hourprior to game timeSection 17.02 Cheerleaders should bedressed in cheer uniform, spanks, cheerbow, cheer socks and shoes.Section 17.03 Cheer bag and pom pomsshould be brought to every practice andgame.Section 17.04 welcome committee andcheer coordinator shall work closelywith parents to ensure we have parentparticipation for weekly donations forgame day snacks and lunch for games.Section 17.05 Teams may perform aprepared halftime performance/routineon game day not to exceed 2 minutes30 seconds and may consist of full orpart music and participate in the meetand greet with the opposing team.

BANNERSArticle 18.Section 18.01 one (1) banner, not toexceed 4x8 for display on competitionday.(a) This is dependent upon the venue

and whether the location allowsbanners to be displayed.

(b) Directives will be given at thecompetition meeting.

(c) Banners are to be removed at theend of the competition

DEADLINES

Article 19.

Section 19.01 there will be no additions,substitutions, or late entries of cheerleaders/ cheersquads after deadline dates.

Section 19.02 The deadline as established in theAntelope Valley Cowboys Cheer rules andoperations book is October 1st

Section 19.03 the competition roster must remainthe same for all competitions. The only exceptionwould be a signed waiver by both the parent andthe Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheer Director.

DESIGNATED AREAS

Article 20.

Section 20.01 Parents, friends or family members ofcheerleaders will not be allowed in thecheerleader’s area( cheerleaders area is whereverthe cheer squad gathers as a team)

. Section 20.02 A parent is allowed in thecheerleader’s area if there is an emergency

Section 20.03 in case of emergency at competitionor event the parent should notify security or aCompetition Official.

Section 20.04 cheerleaders shall not cheer in thestands while other cheer squads are performing.

(a) Any team displaying poor sportsmanship orother inappropriate behavior will besubjected to disqualification fromcompetition.

(b) Cheer directors, coordinators coaching staffand cheerleaders must all remain until allawards have been presented and they aredismissed by award officials.

TEAM SPIRITArticle 21.Section 21.01 cheerleaders may hold up signsand or posters for spirit -before or afterroutines, as to not to distract the participants,judges and to not impede the view of thespectators.Section 21.02 the cheerleaders spirit awardwill be judge by officials designated by theexecutive board. The following criteria will be

used: sportsmanship, enthusiasm, discipline,ticket sales, overall participation, and respectfor other.

COMPETITION CATEGORIESArticle 22.Section 22.01 Each squad will be expected toparticipate in a show cheer “mounting style”performance. Performing using music, cheer,or any combination thereof. Music is requiredin this category. Music may be positioned fora segment half, or the entire performance.Timeframe of routine shall be a minimum ofat least 2 minutes in duration but not toexceed 2 mins 30 seconds maximum.Pom-poms, megaphones, signs, and bannersare acceptable.Section 22.02 All routines will be judge by theYouth Cheer and Dance Alliance (YCADA)Show Cheer Criteria. Coaches must refer tothe youth cheer YCADA rule book section for

complete details on show cheer routinerequirements, as well as the AAU cheer rules.Section 22.03 Funk/Hip hop: to enter thisbonus category, each participant mustcomplete in a show cheer routine. There willbe two age groups 5/10 and 10/14 with amaximum of 15 participants. (a) a routinemust focus on street style movements with anemphasis on Varity, execution, creativity, bodyisolations/control, rhythm, uniformity, andmusical interpretation. Choreography shoulddemonstrate various styles and elements ofhip hop while incorporating athletic tricks,footwork, jumps.

MUSICArticle 23.Section 23.01 Cheer directors, coordinators ,coaches and or assistants one of the followingmust be responsible for the starting andstopping of the music and that music is editedappropriately with no profanity or sexual

lyrics. Music chosen for any routine whetherbeing for halftime or competitionperformances shall not be offensive.

MASCOTSArticle24.Section 24.01 Mascots can perform anexhibition routine and will not be judge.Sections 24.02 Mascots must be alwaysescorted by a cheer coach, except whileperforming.

COMPETETION PROGRAMArticle 25.Section 25.01 Participation in the SCEYFL-AAUConference Competition is MANDATORY forall rostered cheer squads.Section 25.02 registration information mustbe submitted to the certificationadministrators by the designated dated setforth by conference.

Section 25.03 registration information mustinclude the Certified SCEYFL-AAU Roster, andany other documentation required by thecertification administrators.

COMPETETION CHECK-INArticle 26.Section 26.01 all certified roaster staff andcheerleaders must be present at thedesignated check-in time to enter the stadiumand they must have a SCEYFL-AAU ID badgeSection 26.02 overnight or out of statecompetition requires parents to come out theday or night before competitionSection 26.03 wrist bands will be given to theparent and or caretaker before the start ofcompetition Antelope Valley Cowboys Cheeris not responsible for any lost, stolen ormissed placed wrist bands. Parents will incurall charges and fees that may come withreplacing a wrist band.

Section 26.04 Cheer directors, coordinators,coaches and or assistants are not responsiblefor taking cheerleaders to and fromcompetition.(a) It is solely the parents and or care takers

responsibility to establish a means oftransportation for their cheerleader toand from competition.

PERFORMANCEArticle 27.Section 27.01 performance order shall bedetermined at the conference cheercompetition meeting prior to thecompetition date and sent to all cheerdirectors. The order of performance shallbe determined by age/ division , size ofsquad and skill level.Section 27.02 Antelope Valley Colts CheerSeating- will be placed in the stands uponthe discretion of the competition

coordinator. All Antelope Valley CowboysCheer leaders and staff and or coachesshould remain in the designated area untilthe end of the competition.

AWARDS

Article 28.

Section 28.01 Awards will be given out atthe end of the season banquet

FEES AND REFUNDS

Article 29.

Section 29.01 All fees are final and need to be paidby its assigned due date

Section 29.02 No refunds will be given for anyreason

Section 29.03 extensions and exceptions to section29.01 and 29.02 must be authorized by AVCCfounder and or president

CHEER CHAIN OF COMMAND

Article 30.

Section 30.01 If a issue arises please see cheercoach and see if a solution can be found.

Section 30.02 if a issue arises and you have reachedout to the cheer coach and no solution was foundplease reach out to the AVCC assistant director.

Section 30.03 if a issue arises and you have reachedout to the cheer coach and the AVCC assistantdirector and no solution was found please reach outto the AVCC cheer director.

Section 30.03 if a issue arises and you have reachedout to the cheer coach, the assistant cheer directorand the cheer director please reach out to AVCCpresident.

Section 30. 04 if a issue arises and you have reachedout to the AVCC cheer coach, AVCC assistant cheer

director , AVCC cheer director and the AVCCpresident please reach out to the AVCC founder.

CHEER SQUADS COACHES

Article 31

Section 31.01 Each cheer coach will be responsiblefor creating stunts and routines for their squad

Section 31.02 Cheer coaches will reframe fromcriticize other cheer coaches.

Section 31.03 cheer coaches will governor over theircheer squad they are assigned to only.

Section 31.03 trainers can have a team of their ownonly if someone on administrative staff will sign onto be their head coach.
