CLEAR BACKPACK POLICY

Policy

In an effort to improve the safety measures currently in place, IDEA Eastside Academy & College Prep requires all elementary, middle and high school students (K-12th) to use clear or mesh backpacks. Students participating in an extracurricular activity are permitted to carry non-transparent bags to store items pertaining to their particular activity (i.e., dance, athletics, etc.). Upon entry into the school, all extracurricular activity bags must be stored in designated areas.

Students will be required to bring a mesh or clear backpack. If one cannot be obtained, parents must notify their corresponding grade-level counselors (or designated campus personnel) and a bag will be acquired for them.

If a student does not bring a clear or mesh backpack their backpack will be held in the main office with the student's name and ID number. (It is permissible for ladies to bring a private, small makeup bag or small flat pencil bag for required toiletries.) Students are encouraged to only bring necessary items and leave trinkets or other unnecessary items at home.

We understand the concern regarding the privacy of certain items contained within backpacks. Students will be permitted to carry such items in a small makeup pouch or purse within the backpack. Any non-transparent pouch, purse, or lunch kit should be no larger than approximately 6” x 9” x 5”.

En un esfuerzo por mejorar las medidas de seguridad actualmente vigentes, IDEA Eastside Academy & College Prep requiere que todos los estudiantes de primaria, secundaria y preparatoria (K-12º) usen mochilas transparentes o de malla. Los estudiantes que participan en una actividad extracurricular pueden llevar bolsas no transparentes para almacenar artículos relacionados con su actividad particular (es decir, baile, atletismo, etc.). Al ingresar a la escuela, todas las bolsas de actividades extracurriculares deben almacenarse en áreas designadas.

Los estudiantes deberán traer una malla o mochila transparente. Si no se puede obtener uno, los padres deben notificar a sus consejeros de nivel de Grado correspondientes (o personal designado del campus) y se adquirirá una bolsa para ellos.
