LEWAS 2019
LEWAS began in 2013 with the objective to Engage, Empower and Elevate women. Since its inception,
it has recognized and honoured both men and women who are not only making a mark in the energy
industry but are also being an advocate for women empowerment in the GCC. LEWAS seeks to address
the challenges and opportunities for women leaders in the energy industry. Over the years, LEWAS has
gathered women leaders and empowered and motivated women to engage in discussions and panels that
address the issue. Currently, in its fifth year, LEWAS is the forerunner in the GCC to honour talented and
influential women, address pressing issues, develop new and better opportunities and create
long-lasting collaborations and partnerships across the industry and beyond.

WINNERS PANEL - WHAT AFTER LEWAS?
PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND TALK SHOWS
The session provided participants with insight and advice from high level executives and past LEWAS award
winners who thoughtfully shared their journeys.
It focused on what happens when women are empowered to make their full contribution to innovation
and creativity. It discussed the need for diversity and inclusion in the energy sector and its correlation to
organizational performance. The role of women in the energy value chain is crucial in helping to improve
new ways of thinking and could play a key role in cutting-edge development. Thus, integrating diversity
at all levels will result in more effective and efficient initiatives.
The panel discussions and talk shows highlighted the fact that majority of the senior leaders in today’s
business world are men and are thus in the best position to influence cultural and organizational change.
An industry once long dominated by men, is at last seeing an upsurge in the number of women involved
with energy. But there’s still a long way to go and LEWAS, through its efforts will continue to Engage,
Empower and Elevate women in the energy sector.
