1. We are very different yet we stand in unity,To march together towards our perfect destiny. We will share and care for the whole human race, So that love of God be brought to all on the earth.

2. The knowledge we have gathered in our Holy Cross School, Will enlighten every step throughout our life. And we shall be shining as the bright light of day, Never be discouraged but to have that gentle way.

3. We are very precious children of our country,And we shall be making it's new history. God bless our dear school and our country,So that its banner may shine throughout eternity.

PRAYERS

LORD GODFill me with the

desire to build up rather than to tear down,

to heal rather than to wound,to reconcile

rather than to polarize, to risk rather than

to reinforce.

THE LORD IS HERE

1. His voice can be heard in the roaring, of breakers that crash on the shore. His splendour is seen in the morning, as sunlight is coming once more.

CHORUSArise and come, the Lord is here,Arise my friends, He comes to share with you,a life that never ends.

2. His love can be seen in the children, who romp in the playground in spring. His beauty is found in the faces,of all who can smile and sing.

3. His might can be seen in the mountains,So still with the snow on their crest. His pity is seen in the swallow, that cares for the young in its nest.

4. He comes in the heat of the city, mid noise of the cars and the mills. He comes in the Peace of the forest, in desert or cool of the hills.

11

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

Ch. : All things bright and beautiful,All creatures great and small,All things wise and wonderful, The good God made them all.

1. He gave us eyes to see them,And lips that we might tell,How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.

2. Each little flower that opens,Each little bird that sings,He made their glowing colours,He made their tiny wings.

IN NEED OF LIBERATION

The world stands in need of liberation my Lord,It still has to feel Your power. The blind and the deaf, the dumb and the maimed, all need to feel Your healing touch. The world stands in need of liberation, my Lord,It still has to learn to love.

1. There are those who have eyes but refuse to see the inhumanity that's done.

There are those who have ears but refuse to hear the cries of those in agony.

2. There are those who have mouths but refuse to speak against injustice done to others.

There are those who have hands but refuse to reach them out in love and charity.

3. There are those who have talents but they do not use to build a true community.

And we all have the talent to love but leave it buried in ourselves.

12

WALKING WITH THE LORD

CHORUS Walking with the Lord,

We are walking in the morning.Lift up your hearts,

For you're walking with,God Singing to the Lord.

We are singing in the sunshine,Lift up your hearts,

For you're singing to God.

Hand in hand with everyone we're walking, walking,Black and white and brown together walking, walking.Singing new songs now, living new lives, Building new bridges, walking distant miles. well we're..........(chorus)

Rain and storm will not prevent us walking, walking, Faith and hope and love will send us walking, walking.Crossing all barriers climbing all stiles, Breaking thro fences walking distant miles. well we're..........(chorus)

KEEP ME IN THE HOLLOW OF YOUR HAND

1. Keep me in the hollow of your hand. Lead me through the wild and stormy land.

You who guide my feet though the path may will be steep, keep me in the hollow of your hand.

Cho: Keep me Keep me day by day, Guide me, Guide me all the way.

Never, never let me stray,Keep me in the hollow of your hand.

13

2. Keep me in the Centre of your will,All your plans for me may I fulfil,As I go my way help me Lord from day to day,Keep me in the centre of your will. Keep.............

3. Keep me in the circle of your love, Looking down to comfort from above, Help me see your face as I pray for daily grace, Keep me in the circle of your love. Keep.............

4. Keep me in the depth of your own Heart, from it may I never part,Until one day with them, you will call me home to thee,Keep me in the depth of your own heart. Keep.............

ONE MORE STEP ALONG THE WORLD I GO

One more step along the world I go - 2,from the old things to the new, keep me travelling along with you.

Cho : And it's from the old I travel to the new,Keep me travelling along with you.

1. Round the corners of the world I turn,More and more about the world I learn,All the new things that I see,You'll be looking at along with me. And it's..........

2. Give me courage when the world is rough,Keep me loving though the world is tough, Leap and sing in, all I do,Keep me travelling along with you. And it's..............

3. As I travel through the good and bad,Keep me travelling the way I should, when I see no way to go,you will be travelling the way I know. And it's.............

14

15

4. You are older than the world can be, you are younger than the life in me,Ever old yet ever new, keep me travelling along with you. And it's............

MAKE ME A CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE

1. Make me a channel of your peace,Where there is hatred, let me bring your love, Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord, And where there's doubt, true faith in you. Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek, So much to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love with all my soul.

2. Make me a channel of your peace,Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope, Where there is darkness, shining light, And where there's sadness, ever joy.

3. Make me a channel of your peace,It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,In giving to each one that we receive, And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

There shall be showers of blessings, This is the promise of love. There shall be seasons refreshing,Sent from the saviour above.

Ch. Showers of blessing,Showers of blessing we need,Mercy drops round us are falling,But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing, Send them upon us, O Lord.Grant to us now a refreshing,Come and now honour Thy word.

16

There shall be showers of blessing, O that today they might fall,Now as to God we're confessing, Now as on Jesus we call.

There shall be showers of blessings, Precious reviving again,Over the hills and the valleys,Sound abundance of rain.

25

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The school aims at developing the students in totality, to make him/her a perfect creation of God. Top priority is given to character building on sound moral principles. Boys and Girls leaving the school should be characterized by a sense of responsibility with true development of mind and character. They should show this by being actively concerned about national development in the true spirit of freedom, equality justice and peace. They should feel proud of the Institution and must have a distinguished character.

To attain the aims and objectives, the Sisters, together with the whole team of staff, work towards the following:• to make the boys and girls spiritually strong,

psychologically mature and mentally rich / healthy.• to help them have right values in life and cultivate in them

strong principles.• to help to bring out the innate and hidden talents in them.• to make them academically qualified to face the challenging

competitions in life.• to instill in them environment friendly attitudes and

behaviour.• to make them understand true freedom, respecting the

freedom of others and help them become responsible citizens who will be future catalysts for social changes.

All students are taught the essentials of religion which are acceptable to people of all faiths. Efforts are made continually to develop and draw out values in the life of all students.

Excellence in education is measured not by the quantity of work produced by the ablest students but by the degree with which every student has realised his full potential. In other words, it is not the highest point the best students reach but the distance through which all students move from the point of their start to the farthest reaches of their development.

26

The ideals enshrined in the Constitution of India is in tune with the Holy Cross concern for the poor and the underprivileged.

What we are aiming at is an education that will integrate the various sections of the society by providing more opportunity for good education to the weaker sections of the society which is the most effective single factor for equalisation.

The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi upto Senior Secondary standard. The medium of instruction is English.

The school promotes co-education and it admits any child irrespective of caste, creed or social status.

Holy Cross School receives no Government or Private aid and fees realised from students is the only source of revenue. To keep up with the rising cost and revision in salary fees have to be adjusted from time to time.

The School Session is from 1st April to 31st March.

SCHOOL TRADITIONS

Holy Cross Students see themselves as:

• Hard working, Setting high goals and standards.• Mentally Physically and Psychologically tough.• Persistent in their efforts to reach personal goals• Aware of Social structures, National goals, Personal duties

and Social responsibilities and able to accept and discharge personal responsibilities.

In our school we take pride in the following traditions:

• Always to be friendly with one another in and out of school.• To avoid vulgarity in our talk and behaviour.• To accept whatever work is assigned to us as our rightful

share of responsibility.

27

28

• To offer assistance to any unattended visitor we happen to meet on the school premises.

• To rise showing regard and respect when any Sister, teacher or visitor enters or passes through any room in which we happen to be.

• To be courteous to every one and sportsman - like with opposing teams.

• To stick to rules of the library and consider the rights of other students using it.

• To respect and maintain the beauty of the school premises.

• To avoid dropping papers or lunch scraps in the school premises and to pick up any such dropped by others.

• To learn and observe good manners and rules of etiquette.

• Always to respect the religious beliefs of others.

• To realise that hard, persevering, systematic and creative personal effort is the only stepping stone to real success, especially in studies.

• Ever to be conscious that true nobility consists in being honest and sincere, decent and gentle mainly in speech behaviour and action.

These traditions are little things in themselves, and they must be put into practice voluntarily, because to make them a rule would lower their value. The desire to observe them must come from within and must be genuine: only thus can one's character be formed.

OUR EDUCATIONAL CHARTER

Good education is a process that brings about desirable growth in the student - growth that one is able to see from year to year and evaluate. There are various kinds of growth that must take place. Growth in the mount of knowledge and information about various subjects, persons and events.

Growth in the quantity of that information, namely greater understanding as well as increased ability to apply knowledge to a wide variety of situations, by developing one's ability to think (thinking means seeing new relationships between facts.)

Growth in the number and kinds of skills and abilities one discovers and develops, eg. to speak and write English/Hindi better: to work with one's hands to fashion objects; to learn games such as cricket, football, basket ball, etc.; to learn to cycle or swim; to play musical instruments, etc.

Growth can be either in learning a new skill or improving on the skill already acquired.

Growth in interests, in the formation of habits, values and attitudes developing and pursuing personal interests and hobbies some of which will become lifelong assets.

Developing habits such as punctuality, regularity, orderliness, working according to a timetable, self-reliance, especially developing independent study techniques on learning to learn by yourself, etc. Developing values and attitudes such as active concern for the things of the spirit and for moral and spiritual values: pride in one's country and eagerness to contribute one's share to national development; concern for others and their needs and rights; civic consciousness; need to strive for excellence and to shun mediocrity; eagerness to use personal effort and resourcefulness as much as possible rather than look too easily to others for help.

As you go through your school year, you should ask yourself whether you are able to see growth in one or more of these areas. To the extent that there is such growth your education is successful. But in the measure in which such growth is absent, your education is a failure.

29

Who is answerable?

Obviously, all the three most concerned with your education must share responsibility; your home, your school and you yourself. Those at home and at school help in your education, not so much by paying fees or by force-feeding information into an unwilling head, but by providing and fostering a climate or atmosphere where learning can take place; where, by setting goals and challenges, by asking questions and leading you to self-discovery, they help you towards the goal of a self-reliant adult. They help you in all the ways mentioned above: to learn facts to learn to understand and to think; to acquire new skills and habits, and to assess and adopt values and attitudes.

To the extent that you cooperate with your home and your school, you, the important third partner, whose education is the concern of the other two, will contribute most to your personal growth. In turn, you will be able to contribute significantly to the growth of the society.
