TRANSLATION OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people/

Dispenser of India's destiny

Thy name rouses the hearts of the Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat and Maratha/ of Dravida and Orissa and Bengal./

It echoes in the hills of Vindhyas and Himalayas/

Mingles in the music of the Jamuna and Ganges,/

And is chanted by the waves of the Indian sea./

They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise/

Thou dispenser of India's destiny./

Victory, Victory, Victory to Thee. /

PRAYER FOR COUNTRY

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;

Where knowledge is free;

Where the world has not been broken up Into fragments by narrow domestic walls;

Where words come out from the depth of truth;

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake!

- Rabindranath Tagore

ST. ALOYSIUS GONZAGA, SJ

OUR PATRON

Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, SJ is an Italian aristocrat who

joined the Society of Jesus, whose members are called

Jesuits. He was born as the eldest of seven children of

Ferrante Gonzaga (1544 - 1586), and Marta Tana di Santena,

in northern Italy. At the age of 8, he was sent to Florence to

serve at the court and to receive education. When he fell ill, he

started reading prayerfully about the saints.

Despite several of his family-members placing

obstacles to his desire to become a priest, he joined the Jesuit

Order, on 25 November 1585.

As a young Jesuit, he suffered from the malfunctioning

of his kidney, chronic headaches and insomnia etc. Yet, he

volunteered to assist especially the victims of plague that

broke out in Italy In 1591. He begged for alms for the victims,

He worked with the sick, carrying the dying from the streets

into hospitals. He admitted that he worked hard in spite of his

physical repulsion. While engaged in such a mission, he

himself grew ill and was bedridden by March 3, 1591. Aloysius

Gonzaga died on June 21, 1591 with the name of Jesus on his

lips. Purity was his notable virtue.

Aloysius was buried in the Church of Saint Ignatius of

Loyola in Rome. On 19.10.1605, Pope Paul V beatified him.

And on 31.12.1726, Pope Benedict XIII made him a Saint. In

1729, Pope Benedict XIII declared Aloysius to be the patron

saint of young students. Aloysius Gonzaga has become the

patron both of AIDS sufferers and their care-givers.

COLLEGE SONG

Chorus: For God is all our strength / In Him we do and dare

The right against the wrong / We'll cherish and revere,

Then firmly let us stand, / United heart and hand

And pray that God may ever bless, / Our College days.

A happy band from far and near/

We meet to learn the right to dare

Beloved home! Dear College hail/

Our love for thee shall never fail.

We gather round where all may sing/

Glad songs of praise, of trust and love

Where youthful hearts may find the way/

That leads to light and endless days. Chorus

When educating the minds of our youth,

- Dalai Lama46

THE WORLD STANDS IN NEED OF LIBERATION

The world stands in need of liberation my Lord

It still has to feel your power (2)

The blind and the deaf, the dumb and the maimed

All need to feel your healing touch.

The world stands in need of liberation, my Lord

It still has to learn to love.

1. There are those who have eyes but refuse to see

The inhumanity that's done;

There are those who have ears but refuse to hear

The cries of those in agony.

2. There are those who have mouths but refuse

To speak against injustice done to some;

There are those who have hands but refuse to reach

Them out in love and charity.

3. There are those who have talents they do not use

To build a true community;

And we know that we all have the talent to love

But leave it buried in ourselves.

AS WE GATHER

As we gather in this place today

Holy Spirit come and have Your way;

Have your way

As we lay aside our own desires;

Sweep across our hearts with holy fire

Have your way.

47

Chorus: This is your house, your home

We welcome You Lord, we welcome you

This is your house, your home

We welcome you today.

As we offer up our hearts and lives

Let them be a living sacrifice;

Have your way

Be glorified in everything we say

Be glorified in everything we do;

Have your way

As we praise, Lord Draw near

It's your voice we long to hear.

SPIRIT OF GODSpirit of God in the clear running water

Blowing to greatness

The trees on the hill

Spirit of God in the finger of morning.

Chorus: Fill the earth, bring it to birth

And blow where you will,

Blow, blow, blow, till I be,

But breath of the Spirit,

Blowing in me.

Down in the meadow

The willows are moaning,

Sheep in the pasture land

Can not lie still.

Spirit of God, creation is groaning. - Chorus

Spirit of God every man's heart is lonely,

Watching and waiting

And hungry until,

Spirit of God man longs that you only. - Chorus

48

LIFE IS WONDERFUL

Life is wonderful (2)

Life is wonderful now for me

I Let Jesus in, He changed everything

Life is wonderful now.

Chorus: There's a psalm of life

Singing all my life

Since to Jesus my heart did give

O what melody glorious harmony

Life is wonderful now.

SHINE JESUS SHINE

Lord, the light of your love is shining

In the midst of the darkness shining

Jesus, light of the world shine upon us

Set us free by the truth You now bring us

Shine on me. (2)

Chorus: Shine Jesus shine

Fill this land with the Father's glory

Blaze Spirit blaze set our hearts on fire

Flow river flow

Flood the nations

With grace and mercy

Send forth your word

Lord, and let there be light.

Lord, I come to your awesome presence

From the shadows into your radiance

By thy blood I may enter your brightness

Search me and try me, Consume all my darkness

Shine on me. (2) - Chorus

49

AVE MARIA GRATIA PLENA

As I kneel before you

As I bow my head in prayer

Take this day, make it yours

And fill me with your love.

Chorus: Ave Maria gratia plena

Dominus te cum, benedicta tu!

All I have I give you

Every dream and wish are yours

Mother of Christ, Mother of mine

Present them to my Lord. - Chorus

As I kneel before you

And I see your smiling face

Every thought, every word

Is lost in your embrace. - Chorus

BIND US TOGETHER

Bind us together Lord, Bind us together with

Chords that cannot be broken;

Bind us together Lord Bind us together Lord

Bind us together with Love.

There is only one God, There is only one King,

There is only one Body, That is why I sing.

50

MAKE ME A CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE

Make me a channel of your peace,

Where there is hatred, let me bring your love,

Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord

And where there's doubt, true faith in you.

Chorus Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek

So much to be consoled as to console;

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace

Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope;

Where there is darkness, only light

And where there's sadness, ever joy.

Make me a channel of your peace

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

In giving to each one that we receive

And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

WE ARE MARCHING

We are marching in the love of God (2)

We are marching Oh

We are marching Oh Oh

We are marching in the love of God

(We are living.............

We are dancing..........)

51

MY LIFE IS IN YOU LORD

My life is in You Lord

My strength is in You Lord

My hope is in You Lord in You it's in You.

I'll praise You with all of my life

GOD IS GOOD

God is good, we sing and shout it,

God is good, we celebrate

God is good, no more we doubt it

God is good, we know it's true

And when I think of His love for me.

My heart fills with praise and I feel life dancing

For in His heart there is room for me

And I run with arms opened wide

Where shall I build my house

On sure foundation (2)

Chosen and precious corner stone

You are the rock of my salvation

O let the Lord build His house

That we may not work in vain

And let us put our trust in Him

That we may not be put to shame.

52

CHANGE MY HEART O LORD

Change my heart, O Lord

Make it ever new

Change my heart, O Lord

May I be like You.

You are the potter

I am the clay

Mould me and make me

This is what I pray

MORE LOVE, MORE POWER

More love, more power

More of You in my life (2)

I will worship You with all of my heart

I will worship You with all of my mind

I will worship You with all of my strength

For You are my God Yes

You are my God

I will sing all of your praise.

MOVE IN ME, PRECIOUS LORD

Move in me, precious Lord (3)

One more time

To fulfil your every word

Every promise we have heard

Move in me, precious Lord

One more time

Stay with us, precious Lord (3)

All the time.

53

I JUST KEEP TRUSTING

I just keep trusting my Lord

As I walk along,

I just keep trusting my lord

And He gives me a song.

Tho' the storm clouds darken the sky

O'er the heavenly trail

I just keep trusting my Lord

He will never fail.

He is a faithful friend (2)

Such a faithful friend (2)

I can count on Him (2)

To the very end (2)

SING, SHOUT AND CLAP YOUR HANDS

Sing, shout and clap your hands

Give praise unto your Maker

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord

Sing, shout and clap your hands

Give praise unto your Maker

For the Lord He is Almighty God. - Chorus

This is the day of celebration

This is the day to rejoice

The Lord our God is our deliverer

So let's just praise His name. - Chorus

54

MAY WE BE A SHINING LIGHT

May we be a shining light to the nations

A shining light to the people of the earth;

Till the whole world sees the glory to Your name

May Your pure light shine through us.

May we bring a word of hope to the nations

A word of life to the peoples of the earth

Till the whole worlds knows

There's salvation through your name

May Your mercy flow through us.

May we be a healing balm to the nations

A healing balm to the peoples of the earth

Till the whole world knows

The power of Your name

May Your healing flow through us.

May we sing a song of joy to the nations

A song of praise to the peoples of the earth

Till the whole world sings

With the praise of Your name

May your song be sung through us.

IF YOU WANT YOUR DREAM TO BE

If you want your dream to be

Build it slow and surely,

Small beginnings greater ends

Heartfelt works grow purely.

If you want to live life free

Take your time go slowly,

Do few things but them well

Simple joy O holy.

Day by day, stone by stone

Build your secret slowly,

Day by day you'll grow too

You'll know heaven's glory.

55

LEAD KINDLY LIGHTLead kindly light, amidst the encircling gloom,

Lead thou me on:

The night is dark, and I am far from home,

Lead thou me on:

Keep thou my feet, I do not ask to see

The distant scene, one step enough for me:

I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou -

Shouldst lead me on:

I love to choose and see my path, but now,

Lead thou me on:

I loved the garish day, and spite of fears

Pride ruled my will: remember not past years!

So long thy power hath blest me, sure it still

Will lead me on:

O're moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till

The night is gone

And with the morn those angels faces smile

Which I have loved long since, and lost a while.

FROM MY HEART BREAKS Forth

Chorus: From my heart breaks forth this lovely poem,

My life entire, O Lord, is Yours ever more.

From the gifts You shower upon me,

I bring to You, O Lord!

My life, my heart, my whole being

A thirst for You. - Chorus

I thank you, Father in heaven,

For Your care of me.

For the Faith, the love, the friendship

Received from You. - Chorus

56

I thank You, O Master of life,

You have made me for Yourself,

And my heart can have no repose

Till it rests in You. - Chorus

Give thanks to the Father Almighty,

To Jesus Christ the Lord,

To the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,

Through endless ages. - Chorus

GREAT IS YOUR NAME, LORD

Chorus: Great is Your name, Lord

Its Majesty fills the earth.

Your majesty is praised above the heavens

On the lips of children and of babes,

You have found praise to foil your enemy,

To silence the foe and the rebel.

When I see the heavens,

The work of Your hands,

The moon and stars which you arranged,

What is man that You keep him in mind,

Mortal man that you care for him.

Yet you have made him little less than a god,

With glory and honour You crowned him,

Gave him power over the works of Your hand,

Put all things under his feet.

Give glory to the Father Almighty,

To His son, Jesus Christ the Lord,

To the Spirit who dwells in our hearts,

Both now and forever. Amen.

57

BE WITH US MARY

No man can live as an island,

Journeying thru' life alone:

Since we're most loved by a mother,

Jesus gave us His own.

Chorus: Be with us Mary along the way,

Guide every step we take,

Lead us to Jesus, your loving Son,

Come with us, Mary come!

When Jesus met with rejection,

Mary stood by the cross.

How can a mother desert her son?

She'll also stand by us! - Chorus

Help us, O Star of the Ocean,

Be with us in our strife;

When we are faced with temptation

Toss'd by the storms of life. - Chorus

Often enough in life's banquet

We shall run short of wine;

Then, as at Cana, request your son

To make our lives divine. - Chorus

58

GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

God will make a way,

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see,

He will make a way for me

He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side

With love and strength for each new day

He will make a way (2).

SHEPHERD OF MY SOUL

Shepherd of my soul

I give you full control

Wherever You may lead I will follow

I have made the choice

To listen to Your voice

Wherever You may lead I will go

Be it in the quiet pasture

Or by a gentle stream

The shepherd of my soul is by my side

Should I face a mighty mountain

Or a valley dark and sleep

The shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

GIVE THANKS

Give thanks with a grateful heart

Give thanks to the Holy One

Give thanks because He has given

Jesus Christ His son

And now let the weak say I am strong

Let the poor say I am rich

Because of what the Lord has done for us

Give thanks.

59

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

The Lord is my Shepherd,

There is nothing I shall want.

Fresh and green are the pastures

Where he gives me repose.

Near restful waters he leads me

To revive my drooping spirit.

Chorus : The Lord is my Shepherd,

There is nothing I shall want.

Yes, the Lord is my Shepherd,

There is nothing I shall want.

He guides me along

What he knows to be right

If I walk in the darkness

No evil would I fear.

I know that he will be there

With his crook and with his staff. - Chorus

The Lord has prepared

Such a banquet for me.

Surely goodness and kindness

Shall follow after me.

In the Lord's own house shall I dwell

All the days of my life. - Chorus

YOU ARE PRECIOUS TO ME

You are precious to me (2)

You are dear to my heart

I will love you forever (4)

Remember not you past any more

Something new I'm doing for you

60

In the wilderness I will make a way

In the desert rivers will flow

You are precious to me.

Fear not I have redeemed you

Deep waters will not overwhelm you

Burning flames will not consume you

I will be ever beside you to deliver you.

I have called you by name

I have covered out your name

I will not forget you nor forsake you

Fear not I have redeemed you.

HE WALKED WHERE I WALK

He walked where I walk (echo)

He stood where I stand (echo)

He felt what I feel (echo)

He understands (echo)

He knows my frailty (echo)

Shared my humanity (echo)

Tempted in ev'ry way (echo)

Yet without sin (echo)

God with us, so close to us

God with us, Immanuel!

One of a hated race (echo)

Stung by the prejudice (echo)

Suff'ring injustice (echo)

Yet He forgives. (echo)

Wept for my wasted years (echo)

Paid for my wickedness (echo)

He died in my place (echo)

That I might live. (echo).

I HAVE A DREAM

I have a dream, a song to sing

To help me cope with anything

If you see the wonder of a fairy tale

You can take the future even if you fail

I believe in angels

Something good in everything I see

I believe in angels

When I know the time is right for me

I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy

To help me through reality

And my destination makes it worth the while

Pushing through the darkness still another mile

I believe in angels

Something good in everything I see

I believe in angels

When I know the time is right for me

I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a song to sing

To help me cope with anything

If you see the wonder of a fairy tale

You can take the future even if you fail

I believe in angels

Something good in everything I see

I believe in angels

When I know the time is right for me

I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

63

SHOWERS OF BLESSINGs

There shall be showers of blessings;

this is the promise of love.

There shall be seasons refreshing,

send from the Saviour above.

Showers of blessings, showers of blessings we need.

Mercy drops round us are falling,

But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessings;

O that today they might fall;

Now, as to God we're confessing; now, as on Jesus We Call

I WILL CALL UPON THE LORD

I will call upon the Lord

Who is worthy to be praised

So shall I be saved from my enemies

I will call upon the Lord (I will call upon the Lord)

Who is worthy to be praised (Who is worthy to be praised )

So shall I be saved from my enemies (So shall I be saved

from my enemies )

The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

Jesus Christ, He died for me

And He took away my sin

I will live with Him for eternity

64

Jesus Christ, He died for me (Jesus Christ, He died for me)

And He took away my sin(And He took away my sin)

I will live with Him for eternity

(I will live with Him for eternity )

The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock

And let the God of my salvation be exalted

Let your joy be my joy

Let your joy be my joy

Let your strength be my strength

Come fill my heart

With songs of praise

Let your peace be my ways

Let your ways be my way

Lord, Jesus come and fill me now

And I will praise your name

And I will lift my voice

For your love for me is great I rejoice

There's no place, I'd rather be

I'm with you

And you're with me

For your love for me,

Is great I rejoice.

I will rejoice

Your joy is my joy, your strength is my strength,

your peace is my peace,

I will rejoice.
