We are very delighted to report that the

National Board of Accreditation (NBA)has granted

Accreditation status to our Civil, Mechanical and

Electrical Engineering branches at VAST Thrissur

for two years beginning from 01.07.2015. This

recognition is an endorsement of VAST's

compliance with International standards and has

elevated the academic stature of Vidya. A big

thanks to ED, FD, Principal and staff for their

untiring persistent efforts! To develop the expected

standards in quality we need to gradually build our

capabilities to create a research oriented mindset

and culture in our campus .

Dr.Ajayakumar has joined as the Principal

of VAST Kilimanoor during October. He brings

with him around 35 years of experience under

various capacities in public and private academic

fields. His vast experience in both Academic and

Management will definitely help us in the efforts of

excelling VAST TC KLR to higher levels.

During the 4th quarter we had been fully

engaged in planning programs/initiatives and

finalising the fee structure for Admissions 2016

.Our team at Kilimanoor already visited 52

schools from 5 catchment areas ie , Attingal,

Varkala, Kilimanoor , Chethara and Anchal and

conducted a Quiz test to select 2 students from

each school who will take part in a Talent Exam

planned in Jan at our campus. Career Guidance

programs are being planned at all these areas. At

Thrissur too Principal has kick started campaign

meetings to galvanise staff and HOD and a

campaign strategy has been formulated for

implementation from Jan 2016.

NBA Accreditation:

VAST Thrissur Campus is now accredited by

National Board of Accreditation (NBA) - all the

three branches we applied for accreditation (CE,

ME and EEE). Concerted effort of all Faculty and

Management staff who worked hard to make this

achievement possible is very much appreciated

and acknowledged. The competent authority

from NBA approved our request in Tier-II format

based on the on-site evaluation conducted by NBA

Expert Team.

National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is

established with the objective of Assurance of

Quality and Relevance of Education, especially of

the programmes in professional and technical

disciplines like Engineering, Technology and

Management. The process, parameters and

criteria for accreditations are in line with the best

international practices and oriented to assess the

outcomes of the programmes offered by

institutions.

Moreover, NBA has been accorded permanent

Signatory status of Washington Accord on 13th

June 2014. As per Washington Accord agreement,

Recognition of programmes by other signatories

applies only to programmes accredited by NBA

that are offered by education providers accepted

by NBA as Tier 1 Institutions subject to restrictions.

Abu Dhabi Team 2 arranged a family get together

on Friday 30 October 2015 at Mr. Premraj's

residence. The function was held in the presence

Coordinators and other Team Representatives

along with their families. Program was filled with

lots of fun and games arranged by Ms. Divya

Sasindran and prizes were distributed to all the

participants. The get-together ended with a vote of

VDC Family Meet – Trivandrum

The VDC Trivandrum family meeting was held on

01 2015 at Sivagiri. After reciting the

Daivadasakam prayer and observing a minute's

silence as a mark of respect for the late mother of

our member Mr Sanjith. Sri Sushmanandhaji was

present at the function as an invited guest and

delivered a speech on theimportance of prayer in

daily life. Mr Asokan Paramu, Trivandrum VDC

Coordinator welcomed and briefed the members.

The pious presence of Srimad Saigon Swamikal

created an aura of spiritual energy in and around

the auditorium right from the beginning when he

light up the lamps. The speech of Swamikal was

informative and thought provoking. Srimad

Saigon Swamigal insisted the importance on how

to control anger and thus start enjoying the life in

full.

(Secretary) addressed the gathering and updated

all about the excellent progress Vidya is achieving

National Board of Accreditation

An Expert Team of National Board of Accreditation

(NBA) conducted on-site evaluation of the

programmes- Civil, Mechanical & Electrical – of

our college during 3rd to 5th October 2015. On the

basis of the report of the Expert Team, NBA granted

Accreditation status to our Civil Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering and Electr ical

Engineering programmes (UG) for two years

beginning from 01 July 2015. Hence, the students

who graduate during this period of accreditation

will be deemed to have graduated with an NBA

accredited degree.

The Orientation Programme for the newly

admitted MCA students and their parents was held

in the College Auditorium on 27 October 2015.

The programme was held in two sessions. The

newly admitted 10th batch was inaugurated by

lighting the traditional lamp. The second session

was devoted introducing the College and the

Department to the freshers and their parents. This

was preceded by a talk on the placement scenario

by Mr Paul Chakkola, Director of Training &

Placement Cell. The Head of Department also

gave an overview of the rules and regulations of

the College.

MCA Orientation Programme

Session on Classroom Management

Trainers' Club of VAST 'Sameeksha' organized a

session on Classroom Management on 21

October 2015. A total of 70 staff participated in the

workshop. The session started with a talk on

classroom management by Dr Latha Raj (Director,

Student Welfare and Social Projects). The

participants were divided into groups and they

were asked to pool in issues which they found

difficult to handle during classroom sessions. On

the basis of the issues pooled from the various

groups, 10 issues were noted as important and

discussed commonly. Senior teachers (Dileep K,

Asso Prof. ME) Dr. Justin Jose, (Asso Prof. CE), Ms.

Energy Conservation for Future

MOU with ICT Academy

Inauguration of new buses at VAST-

TC

An informative session on the topic Energy

Conservation was conducted by the NSS Unit

ofVAST, Kilimanoor on 07 October 2015. The

objective of the programme was to educate the

public on the need for energy conservation and

different measures to achieve effective energy

ut i l i za t ion. The chie f gues t was Shr i .

Management Center.

The MOU between VAST-TC and ICT Academy was

signed on 08 October 2015. Project Director Mr. D.

Devarajan and the CEO of ICT Academy, Mr.

Santhosh Kurup exchanged the MoU, in the

presence of Prof Jaget Babu (HOD, ME) on behalf of

Principal and Mr. Sreekumar (Academic Relations

Manager, ICT Academy). As a part of this, ICT will

focus on offering training and placement activities

by industry experts to our students, as well as FDP's

for the faculty at the campus. The term of the MOU

is for one year.

Two new buses have been added to the

Transportation service of the College. The service

of the vehicles was formally commenced on 12

October 2015. One vehicle was contributed by

College Management and the second by PTA.

VAST – TC formally welcomed the new Principal

Seminar Hall. The meeting was presided in the

presence of Project Director Sri. Devarajan and

Head of the departments.

Archa .C.G of CE branch, who achieved first rank

in Kerala University S1S2 examination, was held

on 04 November 2015 at the Seminar Hall. Ms.

Archa .C.G of S3 CE secured the highest position

with a C.G.P.A of 9.66. Additionally, Rs.10000 cash

award was given by staff club and PTA. Trust

coordinator Mrs. Anitha Vijayan also gave a token

of appreciation to Ms. Archa.
