We are very glad you chose a Simplify paramotor. To ensure the safe and secure handling of your Simplify paramotor, we wrote this manual. It contains detailed information on how to handle the equipment, especially on the functioning of the motor, the maintenance and handling of the entire drive. The technical specifications, illustrations and measurements are not binding. No claims can be derived from this. We reserve the right to make improvements without changing these instructions. To ensure a long life of your paramotor, maintenance should be carried out by a specialist only. The use of the paramotor is at your own risk and is solely the responsibility of the owner or pilot. Purpose

Lightweight gyroplane with an empty weight of less than 120 kg in the division paramotor – single seat.

Flight Safety

This manual was created to make you familiar with the Simplify paramotor and thus to increase flight safety. To fly the Simplify paramotor, legal regulations must be complied with. It is your responsibility to read this manual to familiarize yourself with the engine and other equipment. To always be up to date, make sure to read the flight safety notices on our website and in various publications. Register your purchase on our website immediately after your purchase. This way we can ensure that you are informed of all warnings. Inform yourself before every flight about the current weather, airspace restrictions and possible military low flying zones. Avoid turbulent weather conditions and only fly during calm weather conditions.

Operating Limits The Simplify X 3 paramotor was examined by the EAPC in accordance with the applicable legal conditions in Germany. In addition, the operating limits were tested by the manufacturer in many flight and stress tests. You shall never fly in case of rain, gusty winds and wind speeds exceeding 25 km/h. Should the above mentioned conditions occur during the flight, you should abort immediately. You may not fly at temperatures that could cause icing of the carburetor.

Modifications to the equipment are not permitted and will void the operating license and warranty! The allowable minimum and maximum are given in the documentation of the paraglider used. The maximum speed must not be exceeded. If you are experiencing disruptions in operations or operational limits were exceeded, the operations should cease immediately and you should contact the manufacturer before the next use.

The Simplify X 3 paramotor is designed only for single-‐seat flying and may not be used for two-‐seater flying. Failure to oblige with the operation limits will result in the cancellation of your insurance cover. We want to explicitly state that any kind of art flight with the paramotor Simplify X 1 is prohibited.

Procedures for Emergency Situations

If you get into very strong turbulence areas or have to descent rapidly due to looming weather changes, use the descent techniques without engine thrust you learnt in training.

In case of problems with the Simplify paramotor, landing shall be performed without the engine. Therefore, for your own safety, practice landing without the engine and train the landing approach without engine thrust. It is essential that you can assess the flight path angle of your device in case of an emergency. If the glider is not functioning correctly, do not hesitate to push the parachute. Zestfully throw the rescue in the free air space so that it does not collide with the glider.

Before every flight, mentally practice releasing the parachute. This will help you to trigger it quickly in case of an emergency.

In case of a water or strong wind landing, the pilot should disconnect from the harness as soon as possible. In case of a tree landing, you should first secure yourself to the tree, and then wait for professional help. However, it is possible that despite the above mentioned behaviour recommendations you will be required to act differently as described. The variety of possible situations does not allow for a universal practice and shall be decided by the pilot from case to case. In the operation of the paramotor always respect the following warnings and safety notes

• Operation of the paramotor is generally permitted only in accordance with the civil aviation regulations. Therefore, fly only on licensed sites.

• Fly only with adequate training and license. • Pilots without a license are only allowed to operate the equipment under supervision of a flight

instructor. • Only use structure that are approved and recommended for the Simplify paramotor. • Never fly in the rain, under the influence of drugs or strong medication. • Always fly with an approved rescue system. • Pay extreme caution when flying to avoid injuries. • Fly only with appropriate protective equipment. • Do not fly in wind speed >25km/h or turbulent wind conditions. • Never start the engine on the ground as there is a high risk of injury. • Be extra careful when handling hot parts on the drive. • Despite the centrifugal clutch you should make sure never to reach into the rotating propeller. • The fuel in the tank of the paramotor can expand if the temperature changes (e.g. in a hot car) and

deform strongly. Always make sure that the tank is properly ventilated.

Nature and Landscape Responsible Behaviour

• Mind your natural environment and fly only on licensed sites. • Operate our nature-‐connected sport so that nature and landscape stay protected. • Don’t give the engine an unnecessarily long time to warm up before the start. Full throttle harms the

environment and the engine. • Behave considerate of your fellow men and fly only if you don’t bother anyone. • Leave the place quickly after the start at moderate gas and rise up to cruising altitude • Don’t fly over populated areas at low flight level and always adhere the minimum flight altitudes. • Don’t unnecessarily fly in the same place repeatedly and widely distribute your flight activity. • Mind the nature and its animals. Don’t fly in protected nature areas. • Always remember that you harm the environment with damaging behaviour and thusly the whole

engine flight sport. • Noise is pollution!

Note: The buyer and user accept the entire risk involved in the use of the engine and knows that this can fail suddenly and unpredictably. Failure of the motor can force you to make an emergency landing and cause injury or death. By flying with this paramotor or turning it on, you accept all risks associated with it. The user takes full responsibility for any damage to property or persons cause by the use of this product.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 Construction of the Frame The factory setting of the Simplify paramotor comes to you ready to fly. All you have to do before your first flight is install the protective case, propeller and the rescue system. Thanks to the simplicity of the unit, only a few steps are necessary.

Carbon Rods Place the engine on a flat surface. Put the six carbon rods into the existing recordings on the case (see drawing). Assembly of Case and Web Assemble the ring on the floor. Make sure that the springs are correctly engaged. First put the ring on the top, then on both left and right carbon rods. Watch out! The web must be must be placed with both highlights through the two upper carbon rods so that the web lies behind the rescue container. Now put the ring right and left into the bottom frame while paying attention to the proper engagement of the springs. The web is situated on the harness side of the frame! Span the web evenly and as strongly as possible over the two clamping blocks, as to be seen in the image. Only a properly tensioned web will give the frame the necessary stability! Now you can connect the two guy ropes (between the harness and the frame). And these are all the steps necessary to construct the frame.

Harness, Push Rods and Main Suspension Generally, your Simplify paramotor is factory pre-‐assembled and ready to fly. Should a disassembly / assembly of the belt or the push rods be required, please note the following points and order.

Simplify Harness The harness has been specially developed for this paramotor and is attached to the top of the frame with double Velcro on the left and right side of the frame with webbing.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 The attachment of the harness to the push rod takes place with a shackle at the short angled side of the push rod. The adjustment of the harness is very simple. The length of the shoulder straps is adapted to the size of the pilot. For this purpose, sit in your harness and pull the shoulder straps on the left and right side until you feel light pressure on your shoulders. To release, pull the orange loop (last picture page 7) upwards. Now you can adjust the leg extension included in the package and possibly adjust the till of the seat extension. And ready is the setup of the harness. Everything else is pre-‐set and cannot be changed. By using the leg extension, the pilot will reach the harness effortlessly after the start. The harness is prepared to fly with a speed system. Please ensure that the glider you want to use is designed to fly with an accelerator. Check the manual of your paraglider for information. Main Suspension To connect the paramotor and the paraglider, only use the delivered carabiners produced by Edelried with a breaking load of 22kn! The carabiners must be released for 9 times (9G) the maximum load > 1350 daN and must be replaced every 2 years. Simplify Push Rods The Simplify paramotor rods are mounted with the offset to the left (torque compensation), with a screw M 10 x 80 grade 8.8 and secured with a lock nut. The special design of the Simplify paramotor does not require any further settings for torque compensation. The connection of push rod and harness takes place through a screw-‐lock, which must be secured. Depending on the pilot’s weight, the suspension is attached to various points of the push rod. In the picture you can see the setting for a pilot weighting about 95kg. If the pilot’s weight is higher, both shackles must be enabled to the front (in the picture to the right). A lighter pilot must put the shackles back (in the picture to the left). To simplify the setting, we have engraved the weights on the push rod. Both shackles should be hooked into the same number (close to the pilot’s weight in kg). Always leave three holes free between two shackles. Despite these measures, it is essential that you check the suspension by placing the system motor, harness and pilot on an appropriate device. If necessary, correct again before the first start. Your dealer will be happy to advise you.

Rescue System and Mounting The rescue system is situated in a special outer container (which is already included in the package), which is attached to the clip-‐on frame part of the paramotor using straps. The container is designed for modern, light rescue equipment only, such as Type Annular EVO 24. When selecting the rescue equipment, mind that they shall never exceed the operating limits of the device (see manual rescue device). Never fly without a saving device!

The position of the container attachment was chosen so that the pilot can trigger the reserve with the right or left hand. Due to the fixed attachment to the main frame, the rescuer cannot be forgotten and does not need to be reattached every time.

Another major advantage lies in the optimized weight distribution of this attachment. This makes the handling of this already very weight-‐reduced frame even easier and more enjoyable.

Connection Rescue & Paramotor The attachment of the rescue system should only be done by the seller or an expert! To attach the rescue system, use the rescue container supplied. The RS connection lines should be connected to the container with the main bridle of the rescue system prior to installation. Lower the connecting lines down to the suspension loops under the shoulder strap cover of the harness and connect it with the red suspension points. The connecting element must match 9 times the MTOW on each side, but at least 1350 daN. After installation, of the rescue, tests and checks must be performed by an expert.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 Propeller and Assembly The Simplify Paramotor can be operated with a wooden or carbon propeller. Under “Technical Specifications” you can find approved propeller for your paramotor. Also see the noise measurement report at the end of this manual.

Wooden Propeller Assembly Note while installing the propeller that the correct side faces the outside respectively the inside (slogan outside / back and balance weight to the engine) Assemble the propeller with the 6 screws on the flange of the transmission. Tighten the screws diagonally with 10 Nm. For the exact attachment you need a torque wrench.

Mounting 3-‐Blade Carbon-‐Propeller Put the 3-‐piece HELIX propeller together. The type label must be facing out. Assemble the propeller with the 6 screws on the flange of the transmission. Tighten the bolts diagonally with 12 Nm. For the exact attachment you need a torque wrench.

The Throttle The Simplify Paramotor standardly comes with a simple and light throttle. Take the throttle into your right hand and secure it against slipping using the loop. By pressing the level more or less gas will be released. By pressing the button on the end of the level, the engine stops. A test of this function must be performed before each flight. The throttle is attached to the device on the right side of the frame. If you wish, it can be mounted to the left side.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 Refuelling – Gasoline & Oil

The Simplify Paramotor comes with a cap with vent valve for air operations (see Figure 2). A gas cap without ventilation should be used only briefly for transportation, as the tank can create a positive or negative pressure, which could lead to large deformations of the tank.

Gasoline & Oil The motor is powered by a gasoline oil mixture. Please only use Castrol Racing 2T with 98 octane premium gasoline. For the run-‐in phase (first tank fuelling) add 4%, later 2.5% oil to the gasoline.

Carburetor With the side-‐mounted ball pump, the gasoline-‐oil mixture must be carefully pumped to the carburetor. Meanwhile the carburetor diaphragm should be pressed down to allow air to escape.

The engine is perfectly factory set with a gas analyser at an altitude of approximately 400m.

Please DO NOT perform changes on the carburetor! In many cases, an incorrect setting is responsible for the total destruction of the motor and results in loss of warranty! The adjusting screw B regulates the idling. By turning it clockwise, the idle speed is increased. The idle speed of the warm engine should be at 2000 to 2200rpm.

Push fan A before the start to fill the carburetor with petrol!

The adjustment screw C governs the mixture setting. If this is too lean, the engine will stutter or die when you suddenly accelerate. Should the motor not run smoothly under load, it is set too greasy. More greasy = max. ½ screw back More lean = max. ½ screw in Basic setting = completely screw back, then turn in by ¾

• cage is correctly installed to the frame and the web tightened and secure • cage and web checked for possible damage • propeller checked for possible damage and the play of the propeller hub • propeller screws tightened • V-‐belt checked for damage and tension • functional test of the stop switch on the throttle • gasoline with min. 98 octane and 2T oil in the right proportions in the tank • petrol system examined for leaks • ensure that the supplied aeration tank cap is mounted • pilot suspension (harness, push rods & joining shackle) tested • full throttle test of the motor performed • pre-‐flight inspection of the structure checked • starter rope checked for function and retrieval

Starting the Engine The Simplify paramotor should never be started on the ground as there is an increased risk of injury.

Check the operation of the throttle grip to ensure the zero position when starting.

Immediately after you have pumped the fuel-‐oil mixture into the carburetor, you should take the motor on your back and grab the starter on your upper right.

You can start the engine with a strong pull without gas. As a rule, the engine will start immediately. This is followed by the warm up phase of about 3 min to max. ½ throttle.

Should the engine refuse to start, try to start it with some gas.

Caution: Despite centrifugal clutch, the propeller might accelerate strongly when starting the engine!

Cleaning & Care

You should clean your paramotor after every flight. The easiest way to remove oil and petrol residues is with a brake cleaner spray. You can clean all other dirt with water and soap.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 Transportation & Storage

Should you be required to transport your paramotor in a lying position, little or no fuel should be left in the tank.

The Simplify Paramotor X 1 comes with a protective pouch for the frame parts and the propeller mounts. You should use these for transportation.

It is important to ensure that the engine and the frame parts are lying apart from each other during transportation to avoid pressure or scratches on the frame or engine.

The paramotor should be stored in a dry place. To protect your paramotor engine against dust and other environmental influences, we recommend that you use the specially designed “Simplify covering”. This can prolong your enjoyment of the Simplify paramotor.

If you store your paramotor for a longer time period, it could possibly be advisable to remove the wooden propeller and store it lying in a dry and dark place.

Disposal

We and our certified service partners are happy to take care of environmentally friendly disposal of your Simplify paramotor for you free of charge. Optionally, you can dispose of your paramotor at an authorized disposal site. In this case, you may face disposal charges.

Inspection, Maintenance & Repairs

After 10 hours of flight, the following checks and maintenance work must be carried out

• check fuel filter for contamination • check exhaust springs for wear • rubber elements of the engine, air box and exhaust system checked • exhaust system checked for cracks • examine tank for chafing • tighten the cylinder head screws

After 50 hours of flight, the following checks and maintenance work must be performed

• replacing the engine mount (4 rubber elements) • check rubber parts of the intake and muffler • replace the spark plug • check all screws and connections for tightness • check all cable connections of the motor unit • examine the Bowden at the carburetor and throttle for wear • replace gear oil 25 ml, W150 our technicians recommend Klüber Lamora 150 • replace coolant G 48 from BASF (600 ml cooler / 100 ml in the reservoir)

Repairs & Spare Parts

Repairs to the frame, suspension or harness may be carried out exclusively by an authorized partner or by the manufacturer. Spare parts for minor repairs, such as spark plus, use original parts only.

After 100 flight hours or after max. 12 months, the paramotor must be inspected and maintained by the manufacturer or an authorized Simplify service partner. If the owner should fail to execute the above mentioned tests, he loses his entitlement to warranty! For maintenance of the engine and the frame you may only use original Simplify spare parts.

PARAMOTOR Simplify X 3 All Simplify paramotors are manufactured with high quality materials to ensure a flawless product. The warranty is valid for 12 months starting from the date of purchase. It must be activated using the warranty card or on the web page www.skyequipment.eu. In case of a warranty claim, a proof of purchase and a complete flight book on the detection of operating hours is required.

The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. It includes spare parts and labour hours but not shipping costs. The warranty does not exist or expires in case of:

Modifications to the engine, which were not approved by Simplify, inadequate or improper maintenance, transportation damage, use outside of recommended operating limits or overload, use of incorrect fuel or oils, dirt or other foreign parts in the engine – even if they have been sucked in, improper storage, incorrect installation or assembly of foreign parts, damage brought about by a third party, maintenance that have not been carried out by authorized workshops.

Warranty claims must be filed through an authorized Simplify dealer. The policy holder must present the purchase documents and demonstrate the prescribed service from an authorized Simplify dealer according to the manual.

Under these warranty specifications, Simplify is only obligated to repair or replace defective parts to re-‐enact the functioning of the paramotor.

Simplify or their partners cannot be held responsible for damaged incurred in connection with the use of the engine, even if they were caused by failure of the engine.
