These Test Lanes have a high level of Computer Automation, including Vehicle Tracking Systems, with a capacity of 20 to 25 vehicles or even more per Test Lane per hour with half the number of inspectors. Above and Under Carriage are fully computer guided with less human influence and this means less errors by inspectors. FREELIFTING OF THE AXLE AND/OR AXLE LOAD SIMULATION “ALL IN ONE”

For this Universal Roller Brake Tester, VLT has designed a special lifting device, installed under the roller sets, which gives this Roller Brake Tester all the flexibility you need.

A. Normal brake testing like a standardRoller Brake Tester.

B. Lifting one axle to increase thetesting weight by factor 1 to 3.

C. Use as Axle Load Simulator by tying downthe axle or chassis by chain/belts andlifting the Lifting System by using theremote control the Roller Brake Tester topredetermined axle weight.

Lifting device is available with a standard hydraulic pump or with an optional high speed hydraulic pump, both with propor-tional value system for accurate axle weight adjustment.

FOR HEAVY GOODS VEHICLES AND BUSES

VLT supplies a wide range of Side Slip Testers for heavy vehicles. Robust construction for long life span, especially designed for their special purpose and specifications.

The VLT Side Slip Testers are connected to a VLT Roller Brake Tester controller and displayed on the alphanumeric display or on a large TFT-LCD monitor, depending on the configuration of the system.

VLT FREE ROLLER SETS (BOOGIE ROLLERS)VLT offers two types of free roller sets, developed for intensive and heavy use in automobile Test Stations.

There are two models; the first one is a 8000 kg three rollers pair and the second one is a 16000 kg four rollers pair. Both models have a hydraulic lifting system between the rollers and a Roller Locking System for safe driving over the rollers when not in use, and for easy driving out of the rollers after use of the free rollers.

Free rollers are needed for testing speed on Speedometers for vehicles with double drive axles and can be used for older types of vehicles with double drive rear axles in combination with a transmission hand brake on the propeller shaft. On modern vehicles transmission handbrakes are no longer installed.

The VLT free roller sets have an aluminium coating on the rollers as corrosion protection. Again, VLT decided to use the more expensive hydraulic lifting and braking system instead of the more common pneumatic system because the hydraulic system is more powerful and more reliable.

Normally the VLT Speedometer and the VLT free roller set share the same hydraulic pump and are controlled by the VLT Speedometer controller.

These Brake Testers have all rollers at floor level. There are two standard models for each series. One without weighing and one with weighing system. For the models with weighing system, our subframe needs to be installed.As read-out a 22” TFT monitor in console on a pedestal is standard. Also available are a wall mount bracket, an adjustable pedestal and console VLT 0847.

VLT Caravan Roller Brake Simulator VLT 2106THE ORIGINAL CARAVAN ROLLER BRAKE SIMULATOR The VLT Caravan Roller Brake Simulator operates the brake mechanism on the triangle of the caravan. The Brake Simulator also holds the caravan in the roller sets of the Brake Tester. The mechanism in the Brake Simulator, which is activated by hand, Causes force through the coupling device on the overrun brake.This force is measured with a gauge and is displayed on the LED Display or Monitor of the Roller Brake Tester. A simulator locking rail must be ordered separately. VLT ABOVE AND/OR UNDER CARRIAGE SPECIAL KEYBOARDS

In 1995 VLT introduced its famous time saving Above and/or Under Carriage Keyboards. A very robust, designed VLT product (suitable for a rough environment), which guides the inspector through the test and in combination with the VLT Test Lane concept database, it tells the inspector by way of green LED’s which items need to be inspected.

If there are no fail items, the inspector simply presses the large enter key to confirm that the test is completed. If there are (major) items that fail, he presses the failed items key once and a red LED lights up, while the green LED goes off. If the selected item is a minor fail, he presses the failed key twice. The first time the red LED lights up and after the second time both the green and red LED’s are on. This means that this item or items need no repair before passing the overall test. The VLT Above and/or Under Carriage Keyboard has 86 keys and a large enter key. The user can make changes on the keyboard if one is using the VLT Test Lane software module. If the VLT Above and/or Under Carriage keyboard is installed in the VLT Test Lane concept with 32” TFT-LCD monitors, all the information on fail (minor or major) is displayed: minor items by green V / red X and major items only by red X. Correction can easily be made by pressing one time more on the same key (repeat function).

VLT Speedometer testersVLT has a range of Speedometer Testers from 1000 kg, 3500 kg, 12000 kg up to 14000 kg, developed for intensive and heavy use in Automobile Test Stations. All models consist of 4 special coated rollers of which 2 rollers are connected by a propeller-shaft on which the electronic pulse counter is fitted. The signals are sent to the Speedometer controller.The results are displayed on a 22”TFT monitor. Speedometer Testers are available in TEST LANE or STAND-ALONE version.

The software is standard or tailor made. The VLT 3885 (the 3500 kg version) is available with a taximeter conversion. This means that in a taximeter configuration an electrical motor is driving the rollers, ensuring that the reading is very accurate (less sound and no Emissions). All four models are very robust and can be classified as top of the market, with high value for its price, fitted with a fast hydraulic lifting system which locks the rollers when the lift is up. The 14000 kg version has an independent roller braking system. A hydraulic lifting system is more expensive as the common pneumatic system, but more powerful and more reliable, especially with heavy use of the Speedometer. The Test Lane version has a drive-in sensor device for full automatic use and safety protection.

VLT has developed a series of Chassis Dynamometers for diesel smoke and other emissions under road conditions where more accurate results are measured as with the common free acceleration tests. Ready for nowadays discussed Partial Measurement Test. CDST tests are far more safe for the vehicle engine than the free acceleration tests.

VLT offer a series of four (4) models. We have 3000 kg and 6000 kg axle weight light versions and the 14000 kg axle weight single axle model and the double drive tandem axle 24.000 kg tandem axles model. This last

UNIQUE VLT FULLY INTEGRATED VEHICLE TEST LANE CONCEPT

Why unique?• The VLT Integrated Vehicle Test Lane works fully paperless• Has a Vehicle Tracking System, this means the System handles three or more Vehicles at the

same time in one lane and keeps the data and results of each Vehicle separate.• VLT makes use of one Single Test Lane Computer per Test Lane• Only one time Vehicle Data input, mostly only registration number is all you have to put in.

The remaining data is retrieved from the Station Server Database.• Unknown New Vehicles of the Database can be easily created by Menu on the Entry Console

and/or on Reception.• Pass or Fail decision is made by the Computer System, no human influence on vital

inspections, like Brakes, Suspension, etc. etc.• Very easy RETEST facilities, the VLT System knows the FAIL items of the previous inspection

and commands the Vehicle straight to the selected Equipment(s). Time saving for every one, Operator and Vehicle owner as well.

• If Vehicle FAILS, a Full Test Report is printed out and gives the repair workshop all relevantinformation for repair and/or adjustment.

• If Vehicle PASSES, a Vehicle Fitness Certificate can be printed, or if required a Window Sticker can be produced, or even your own special system can be adopted.

• VLT Develops, configures, manufactures, installs and hands over the entire Vehicle Testing System more or less as Turn-Key, including User and Maintenance training by VLT’s own engineers, even All-In Maintenance and Repair over 5 to 10 years period can be contracted out to VLT.

CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER Tandem model

This model Chassis Dynamometer can test vehicles with a maximum axle weight of 14000 kg for a single axle. The combined weight of

a tandem axle set can be 24000 kg.

FREEROLLER SET

A Freeroller Set is used in combination with a Brake

Tester or a Speedometer Tester, for testing vehicles with driven tandem axles.A hydraulic lifting system and roller brakes are installed for easy driving in/out/over the rollersets.

ROLLER BRAKE TESTER

The Roller Brake Testers for heavy vehicles are

available with all rollers at the same level, or with the rear rollers raised. All rollersets are constructed for very intensive use and minimum required maintenance.

EMISSION and DIESEL SMOKE TESTERSVLT 4588/MK2 Emission Tester measures CO, HC, CO2, O2 and Lambda value.

The VLT 4590/MK3 Diesel Smoke Tester measures the opacity of the exhaust gases.Extra sensors, such as rpm sensor or oil temperature sensor, can be connected.Both units can be placed in a dedicated trolley.

ROLLER BRAKE TESTER

This Roller Brake Tester has motor driven rollers (integrated electric motor and gearbox). This results in a very compact rollerset. VLT uses the most accurate brake force strain gauges available on the market. The rollers are coated with an abrasive grit to emulate a road surface and last for many years.

CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER, light model

This model Chassis Dynamometer can test vehicles with a maximum axle weight of 6000 kg.

SUSPENSION TESTER

The VLT Suspension Testers operate according to the well-known EUSAMA principle. However, the diagnostic options are not restricted to the contents of this specification. In addition to the usual road contact values, the following values are also measured and displayed: the contact value difference, resonance frequency and wheel weight at minimum contact value, tyre pressure value, wheel weight and axle weight.

SIDE SLIP TESTER

The VLT Side Slip Testers are very robust and require minimal maintenance. They can be equipped with drive-in and/or drive-out sensors to assist

the automatic vehicle tracking system in the test lane. An optional rigid counter plate guarantees a correct and accurate measurement. The maximum drive-over weight of the Sideslip Tester for heavy vehicles is 10000 kg each wheel.

HEADBEAM TESTER

Our VLT CCD camera Head Beam Tester is available from fully automated to manual. But all models send their data to the Test Lane Computer. The top model controls, by using a Vehicle Position Scanner, the Vehicle position in front off the Head Beam Tester. Ask for more information on the different models.

TESTLANE ENTRY CONSOLE

The Test Lane Entry Console is the place to enter Vehicle date or select it from the Server and is the beginning of a Vehicle inspection. There is a choice of standard keyboard or a VLT membrane keyboard, both with mouse. The monitor can be standard or with Touchscreen. Above Carriage Inspection can be integrated in the Entry Console or can be set up by it’s own 86 keys special VLT keyboard (this still the fastest way of inspection).

VLT Play Detectors are operated by means of a handheld lamp with built-in remote control unit. Different movements of the plates are available and can be selected and activated with the remote control.
