All industry people were first given the syllabus of different courses. Initiative has been made to
discuss the syllabus and the feedback would be given in next meeting within short time. It was
decided that all the members would refer the content of the syllabus at their own time and
meet next time maybe in may or june to discuss in detail what changes are to be brought in the
course content of different courses of civil engineering to bridge gap between the industry and
institute.
Discussion was also made on whether industrial training/internship should be done by students
or not. It was suggested that every student should undergo 2 week training during summer
vacation on the courses which he has studied at different workplaces to get industrial exposure
on different courses.
A 2 day workshop for subject of concrete technology has been confirmed to be held in the
month of august with the help of Mr. Rohit Pandya, Regional head Ultratech cement ltd.,
Vadodara.
For suggestion for expert talks workshop finishing school-topics and experts would be discuss

However they had sent the suggestions and they had accepted the structure with the suggestions.
All the staff persons were welcomed by Dr. L. B. Zala.
Prof. A. N. Desai deliberated about the model structure of AICTE and structure suggested
by the departmental academic committee. Then the forum was kept open for discussion.
Following points were suggested by the forum.
In the subject of Numerical and statistical Analysis Statistical part the students have already studied in 12th and 1st year level, hence only numerical part is required to be taught with practical instead of tutorial.
The syllabus of Mechanics of solid should be prepared in concern with syllabus of Physics of 11th and 12th standard (HSC Science ) and Physics of 1st year Engineering level.
A few courses were proposed by industry expert to overcome the gap of industry and institution. Namely:- 1) Course on Safety and health 2) Contract and tendering.
The above suggestion was accepted and incorporated by including the valuation part in one of the course and introducing the new course of Industrial Safety and Quality Control.
The programme elective 4 is changed from 3-0-0 structure to 2-0-2 structure.
Prof. B. R. Dalwadi suggested that GE1 and GE 2 respectively should be in 4th and 5th semester, hence following necessary corrections have been incorporated in the course structure;
1. GE1 and Engineering Geology are interchanged.
2. GE2 and Construction Technology rare interchanged.
Suggestion was made by Dr. S. V. Mevada to interchange electives Prestressed concrete (3-1-0)
with Advanced Structural Analysis (3-0-0). This has been accepted by majority of the members
hence the change has been incorporated as Advanced Structural Analysis (3-1-0) and Prestressed
concrete (3-0-0).
The meeting ended with the thanks by Dr. L. B. Zala.

Minutes of Meeting:
Dr. Darshak Thakore briefed about the BVM Engineering College and its autonomous status, the Computer
Engineering Department and good practices carried out by the department.
All the members reviewed overall teaching scheme and several innovative, newly added subjects like
ES107, ES108, 2CP09, 3CP05, 4CP33 were discussed in brief by the concern course coordinators. The
expert, Mr. Chaitanya Shah appreciated the teaching scheme, contents of the courses and novel practices
carried out by the department.
The contents of 4CP46: Cloud Computing, 3CP07: Software Engineering, 4CP47: Advanced Web
Programming were discussed in more detail. Following inputs are received based on his observations:
For Overall teaching scheme:
1. There should be one generic course on programming rather than several courses on programming
using different languages.
2. Naming of courses based on specific technology should be avoided, for example Course title of
4CP49 should be Mobile Application Development rather than Android Programming.
3. Syllabi content should be revised every year if possible as technologies/platforms/languages are
constantly changing/evolving in IT field.
4. Cloud Computing should be kept as compulsory course rather than elective one as demand of
Cloud Computing services is increasing day by day and IT industry requires employees having
cloud computing skills.
5. Faculties should be trained for new courses like Blockchain Technology and Quantum Computing
at good institutes/organizations.
6. Mr. Chaitanya Shah appreciated the provision of Full Semester External Project and Internships
as these courses provides industrial exposure to the students and both, the Industry and the
students get benefits from it.
For 4CP46: Cloud Computing
1. Students should be realized the needs, advantages, architecture of Cloud Computing in today’s
era.
2. There should be topics on Multi Cloud in which integration, architecture and designing of cloud
computing services from different vendors is to be explained.
3. Cyber Security and Security in Cloud should be offered as separate course as it is the fundamental
requirement in the digital world.
4. Upon asked by Prof. Prashant Swadas about worthiness of the certifications by Cloud Computing
Vendors like Google, Amazon or Microsoft, Mr. Chaitanya Shah told that in IT industry,
management considers the employees having certification as a skilled ones. He recommended
the certification courses by Cloud Computing Service Provides.
For 3CP07: Software Engineering
1. As every IT company has braced Agile software development methodology, it should be
incorporated in the syllabus.
2. In every unit of the syllabus, Agile related topics like TDD, FDD, XP, Scrum, Business Driven KPI,
Planning Poker Technique, Sprint, Time Boxing, Fail Fast Model, Unit Testing, Integration
Testing and Automation etc. should be added.
3. Different Open Source Automation and Testing tools like Selenium, Appium etc. should be
covered in the syllabus and lab session.
For 4CP47: Advanced Web Programming
1. Syllabus should cover overall 3 tier architecture of web development and Progressive Wab Apps.
Client/Mobile/Cloud First approach should be emphasized.
2. Designing of UI/UX and Software Design Thinking should be introduced in the syllabus.
3. There should be topics on building application using Conversation API.

follows:
External Expert
Er .Rajesh Ghediya
Engineering Manager Infrastructure and Property Group
Deakin University
Locked Bag 20000, Geelong, VIC 3220
+61 3 925 17760
From Daiken University –Australia gives following suggestion
(1) With the lot of non-sinusoidal switching, there are plenty of harmonics issues in modern
power system compared to traditional power systems, hence in my opinion, I would suggest
to include Harmonic filter (its type, operation, benefit etc) along with the Power Factor
Correction equipment.
(2) (2) BSC 203: PROBABILITY:- course name should be changed to reliability engineering,
and all the mathematical modules etc needs to include as a part of reliability of machine
system and also that will assist students in understanding the concept of SIL (safety integrity
level) and MTBF (Mean time breakdown failure) , MTBR (Mean time Breakdown repair)
etc important concept in the hazardous industry (IE. petroleum refinery, fuel storage etc).
Numerical methods in the subject are good however I question the student learning all those
manual numbering calculation technique in the age of computers, it is better student learn
something which is more practical.
(3)
PCC-EE13 Signals and Systems
PCC-EE14 Signals and Systems
Laboratory
The above subject needs to briefly include various type of industrial networks such as device
net, industrial Ethernet, Modbus etc. That will assist the student with the practical appreciation of
the networks.
4) PCC-EE06: DIGITAL ELECTRONICS:- needs to include topic of PLC and a practical
workshop of PLC programming just a stop/start reverse forward application will give student
confidence when they go out in the field.
(5) OEC-EE02 OE-2 (Renewable ET) Subject needs to mention about the micro grid (DER
distributed energy resources) as the traditional centralized grid is moving to more
distributed energy resources.
6) High voltage subject needs to include SCADA as it is getting more and more common in the
remote isolation of HV equipment and data collection at both distribution and transmission
network.
7) to give student practical hands-on approach study a lesson needs to include into permit to
work systems for HV, ie. Switch off, Isolate, Test and Earth (SITE) before working on any HV
equipment.
20. At the end of the meeting Prof. M. N. Sinha shared the experience of faculty members
with teaching the subject of High Voltage Engineering, Utilization and Traction,

It was pointed out that students should have capability to Read the Drawings, the lndustries need the
students who can readily read a drawing or measure a given component with fundamental knowledge
of all the subjects of the engineering program.
Er D M Patel, Prof J B Thakker and Dr Amit Trivedi strongly suggested to not to compromise on hands
on component of the subject. Prof Rakesh Barot was also of the view that if the subjects can be
swiped in odd and even semester for balancing the Central Workshop load, the present structure of 2-
0-4-4 (Lecture-Tutorial-Practical-Credit) can be changed. Er D M Patel and the members empowered
the Chairman, BOS to finalize the course structure of the Machining Processes, Welding Technology,
Casting Technology, Dimensional Metrology and Metal Forming Processes.
It was supported that projects should be from manufacturing group rather than design group.
Credits of the subject of Communication Skill should be increased.
Subjects with Hands-On Practices only should be offered on Saturday slots and be conducted in the
industries in association with faculty members.
