Twee vensters aan die straat se kant is uitgeslaan waarvan mnr. Pretorius blykbaar een uitgeslaan het nadat sy seuntjie reeds ontsnap het.

Council needs moneyKINROSS - Govan Mbeki Municipality will electrify 200 households in the current fi nancial year.
This came after Ext 21 residents were pleading with the municipality to electrify their houses.
The municipality said they rely on the Department of Energy for funds in order to electrify the houses.
Govan Mbeki Municipal spokesman, Mr Bheki Kub-heka, said electrifi cation of the houses will be done in phases because the Depart-ment of Energy has made
available funds for only 200 households.
âAs a result, only 155 households in Kinross and 45 in eMbalenhle can be electri-fi ed.
âHowever the energy section is currently engag-ing with the Department of Energy to source additional funding in order to complete the electrifi cation of the re-maining households,â said Mr Kubheka.
He further said they are also looking at various op-tions in order to complete the project.

âHoe kan daar toegelaat word dat diĂ© wag steeds werk en veronderstel is om mense te beskerm?â het mnr. Wessels se vrou gevra.
Daar is ân saak van aanranding oopgemaak by die polisie en die saak word ondersoek.
Die sekuriteitswag het reeds in die hof verskyn en die saak is weer uitgestel na 5 Februarie.
Volgens die poskantoorbestu-urder het hulle nog nie voorheen klagtes van dié spesifi eke sekur-iteitswag gekry nie.
Die sekuriteitsmaatskappy het glo nog nie op die poskan-toorbestuurder of mnr. Wessels se e-posse reageer nie.
Die maatskappy het ook nog nie op die koerant se navraag reageer nie.

SECUNDA - Govan Mbeki Municipal senior citizens have been waiting for the municipality to correct the wrongful allocation of RDP houses for 15 years.
The Ridge Times spoke to Mr Naphtal Jiyane (64) who applied for an RDP house, but it was built on someone elseâs stand.
His house was built in 2000 and he has been trying desperately to rectify the mistake that was made.
Mr Jiyane and 14 others who are affected, led a silent protest to the municipal of-fi ces last Tuesday.
The municipality has been promising Mr Jiyane for years that he will receive another house, but to date nothing has happened.
Ms Thandi Mdluli who ap-plied for zn RDP house faces the same problem when her house was also built on the wrong stand.
To make matters worse, the person who occupies Ms Md-luliâs house, also received an RDP house and now has two dwellings on one stand.
The same excuse was of-fered to her by the municipal-ity.
The 97-year-old Ms Getrude Nkabinde has ap-plied for an indigenous grant
without success.She uses the whole pension
to pay for her high water bills and battles to survive.
Mr Sbusiso Hlolweni, a hu-man rights activist, was also at a silent protest and vowed to not stop fi ghting for the elderly people.
Mr Hlolweni made head-lines when he walked more than 300km from eMbalenhle to Nelspruit to raise aware-ness of the abuse of the elderly.
He submitted a petition to the MEC of Social Develop-ment, Ms Nomsa Mtshweni, who recommended that the mayor, Ms Lindi Masina, should urgently attend to the matter.
Mr Hlolweni also wrote a letter to the public protectorâs offi ce and it was also recom-mended that the elderly should be provided a place to stay.
The elderly said they will continue with their silent protests and might one day take their mattresses with to sleep inside the municipal building if their concerns are not adhered to.
The Ridge Times asked the municipality for comment on 20 January, but it failed to comment at time of going to press on Monday.

Stinky situation in KinrossKINROSS - Open sewage holes pose a health risk to residents.
The holes were apparently left open by the Govan Mbeki Municipality in October.
Residents said they always see mu-nicipal workers draining water, using buckets, and leave it open again.
One resident said they are worried as parents, because their children pass the open hole every day to and from school.
âThis hole is full of water and should children fall inside, it will be diffi cult to
fi nd them,â said a parent. The foul smell coming from the open
drains are of major concern to business-es and residents.
When it rains, the sewage overfl ows and runs into yards.
Near the open hole is a street light that is falling over and has been report-ed to the municipality several times.
The Ridge Times asked the municipal-ity for comment on 22 January, but did not receive one at time of going to press on Monday.
This is an open drain in Kinross.

Centre does not get the basicsKINROSS - Ms Ethel Makhele, chair-man of the Kinross Golden Oldies Club, said they are struggling to get basic services meant for elderly persons at their premises.
The centre, which was allocated to them by the Govan Mbeki Municipality in November 2014, is still without water and electricity.
They said the municipality expects the elderly to pay nearly R9 000 in order to get electricity.
âWhere are we going to get this money because we are a non profi t organisa-tion?â asked Ms Makhele, also a found-ing member of Sikhula Kancane Multi-purpose Centre.
What makes the situation more dif-fi cult for the elderly, is that their roof was blown off in a storm days before Christmas.
Ms Makhele said when the roof was blown off, they only managed to salvage seven corrugated sheets out of 18.
The other 11 were stolen.
The senior citizens said they are frus-trated because thieves regularly steal the windows of the centre.
âAs soon as we replace the windows, the thieves return to steal them,â said Ms Makhele.
Sikhula Kancane that looks after or-phaned and child-headed families, is also being targeted by thieves.âOn Wednes-day when the school reopen, we realised that everything was stolen at Sikhula Kancane.âThe place was empty, chairs, drinking glasses, plates, gas stove and the food was gone.
The Kinross Golden Oldies Club takes part in elderly games, but do not have a place to exercise and play sport to prepare for games.The centre is also not fenced. For more information regarding the Kinross Golden Oldies Club, contact Ms Ethel Makhele at 083 470 8609.
Govan Mbeki Municipality said it is still investigating why it has taken so long for the centre to get water and electricity.

HIGHVELD - Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, has dedicated 2016 to the year of advancement of peopleâs power.
In her new yearâs press statement released on 21 January, she said she is not backing off from her vision to make the Govan Mbeki Municipal-ity a model city and a centre of excellence. Ms Masina said regardless of the stubborn persisting challenges that Council is facing, she remain reso-lute and committed to the vision.
She said the municipal-ity is working around the clock to ensure that this municipality performs at its utmost best.
âIt is our considered view that if we can all pull our resources to-gether and work in unison as a team, we can achieve most of the objectives that we have set ourselves as an institution.
âWe therefore make a clarion call to all our peo-ple that they should con-tinue to pay for services in order for this municipal-ity to reach the state of self-reliance, fi nancially speaking.â
âWe implore all to come on board and become posi-tive contributors to the remaking of the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
âThe fi nancial and other challenges that we are currently grappling with, can be resolved if all of us can make a solid commitment to comply with our obligations as residents and citizens of this municipality.â Speak-ing about service delivery, Ms Masina said Council has established Operation Vuka Sisebente (OVS) as an effective mechanism to enhance and improve ser-vice delivery. She said the OVS mechanism is con-stituted by all structures
existing in the communi-ties whose main function is to serve the people.
âWe are calling on our people to participate in the OVS and contribute effective and workable solutions. âThrough this OVS, we believe that the Govan Mbeki Municipal-ityâs stakeholders will converge together and craft workable solutions for most of the challenges that our people are facing daily.
âI would like to call on all stakeholders, govern-ment aligned and non-governmental, to effec-tively participate in the OVS structural model in order to contribute to fi nd solutions for problems, diffi culties and challenges on service delivery.
âThrough the OVS, we intend to tackle all issues and this is an ideal plat-form for stakeholder en-gagement to improve our state of service delivery.â
Ms Masina encouraged people to use the open-door policy to advance their cause and contribute innovative ideas. She said the country is a democratic constitutional dispensation where people have all the freedoms as enshrined in the Constitu-tion, including the right to march and hand over memoranda. She urged people to use these chan-nels of engagement intel-ligently and profi tably.
âCitizens are also en-couraged to attend council meetings in the case of municipalities where they are at liberty to raise issues of concern to their respective communities.
âThere is a also platform for engagement called the Mayoral Izimbizo, where the executive mayor and the entire mayoral com-mittee commit them-selves to the public for constructive engagement
and how best the service delivery can be improved and fast tracked. âLocal government politicians are also obliged in terms of legislation to engage in community visitations through public participa-tion programmes with a view of getting fi rst-hand information of what peo-ple really want in order to improve their lives. âOf course, communities have a right to engage in pro-tests if they believe that their concerns are not given the attention that they deserve.â Ms Masina claimed that genuine service delivery protests are being hijacked by criminals in order to serve their nefarious activities through looting, damage to property, intimidation, injury infl icted on inno-cent people and at worse, people losing their lives.
She said leaders of the protests should be held responsible for anything amiss that takes place during a protest, because they are the organisers of such protests and there-fore, commanders of the people during that period.
âThis element will assist in putting more responsi-bility on these leaders to ensure that marches are well organised and that participants do not disre-gard the rule of law.
âThis will also ensure that these marches do not become havens for criminals to perpetrate criminal conduct by using these protests as launch-ing pads. âIf protests are organised by organisa-tions, these organisations and their leaders should be held accountable and prosecuted for any wrong-doing.â
âGovernment should begin to display a zero-tolerance attitude towards anarchy, crime and mad-ness during protests.â
Mayor wants stricter control over protests
Sasol suspends employee over racist Facebook postSECUNDA - Mr Siphosethu Muzi Nkala, a Sasol employee, was suspended following his alleged racist Facebook post on 7 Janu-ary.
This was the message: âUntil we learn to unlearn killing each other and learn how to kill these white rednecks or any of the rac-ist pigs then we will be respected.â
About 59 of his Facebook friends liked the post, however some of them condemned his status.
Mr Alex Anderson, head of Group Media Relations, said: âSasol suspended an employee, based at its Secunda operations, for allegedly posting inappropri-ate content on a social media plat-form in contravention of the com-
panyâs code of ethics.âA full investigation into the
matter is currently underway.âThe Facebook post was removed
after it went viral.The newspaper contacted Mr
Nkala who said the matter is be-ing investigated and he could not give a comment. âI will respond when the time is right.â
Ms Lindi Masina (Govan Mbeki Municipal Mayor) says organisers of protests should be held accountable for looting during protests.
Somalis condemn killingeMZINONI - The Somali and Ethiopian community have condemned and dis-tanced themselves from the killing of local resident, Mr Thabo Blose.
They denied being part of the trag-edy and said they were shocked when they were fi ngered as the culprits in his death. Mr Jamal Said Mohamed, spokesman of the group, spoke to the Ridge Times and alleged that the mur-der suspect is from Bangladesh and not Somalia. âSomalis and Ethiopians are Africans and will not kill our fellow African brothers,â he said. Mr Mohamed said it was unfortunate that the shops of innocent people were looted and that his countrymen were accused of a crime they did not commit.
âWe cannot kill someone for a banana or any item taken from our shops.
âKilling is not part of our African val-ues. âIf we happen to be victims of crime, we also report it to the police and do not take the law into our own hands.
âWe are not here to kill people, but are here to work.â Mr Blose was alleg-edly stabbed and killed by two foreign national shop owners on 15 January.
His murder led to violence and loot-ing of many foreign national shops by the angry mop. Mr Mohamed offered his sympathy to the bereaved family and said he intends to visit the family to donate groceries. He requested residents to be calm and not to become violent to-wards them, because they are innocent.
Mr Thabo Blose was allegedly stabbed and killed by two foreign national shop owners on 15 January.

Thank you, Bethal Hospital My mother-in-law was taken to Bethal Hospital with severe stom-ach pain on 17 January.
Upon our arrival, the medical staff immediately took her to the causality room.
Her fi le was given to us within less than fi ve minutes.
Ms Winnie Nkosi was attending to her in the emergency room and was very professional and helpful.
While she was attending to her, Ms Nkosi explained everything she was doing and why she did it.
The emergency room was clean, the curtains were washed and there was new equipment for blood pres-sure/sugar tests, etc.
Within an hour she had her blood drawn, was seen by the doctor on duty and was admitted to a ward.
The ward and linen were clean. The food looked delicious and the
staff were very helpful and friendly.Thank you for the great service,

Activist slams mayoreMBALENHLE - A local human rights activist, Mr Sibusiso Hlolweni, accused the mayor of the Govan Mbeki Municipal-ity of being infl uenced by corrupt cadres.
In an open letter to Ms Lindi Masina, Mr Hlolweni said councillors are milking the resources of the municipality for their own personal gains at the expense of the poor.
He said one of the duties of the execu-tive mayor is to provide leadership and guidance to the community and said Ms Masina is failing her people.
Mr Hlolweni said Ms Masina has never responded to various memoranda direct-
ed to her offi ce.âThis includes the sit-in protests by el-
derly persons in an attempt to get her at-tention to eradicate the lack of adequate housing for the elders.
âShe seems to not give a damn about responding to their requests, let alone to even have two minutes with them.â
Mr Hlolweni claimed that various members of the community have tried to bring corrupt actions by councillors to her attention, but these have failed.
He said this includes the selling of RDP houses and residential land that should have been given to the same elderly per-sons who are still expected to continue sitting outside the municipal buildings in Secunda in 2016.
âLast winter, dozens of people were forcefully removed from the land they have occupied for years in Bethal.
âThis was done despite the law pre-venting a person to be removed from land that he had occupied for more than six months.â
Mr Hlolweni compared these actions to despots like Idi Amin Dadda and Ivan the Terrible of Russia and said even they would have been touched by the laments of the poor elderly who were thrown out in the terrible conditions of the Highveld winter.
A few weeks ago community members of Ext 19 (Ward 13) appeared on national television, moaning about sewage that has been fl owing into their homes for years.
Mr Hlolweni said Ms Masina will be re-membered as the mayor who did not care about the elderly people and as the com-munity leader who led the municipality towards a debt of close to a billion rand.
His letter also referred to the 1km road (Chief Albert Luthuli) that took more than fi ve years to complete.
It also mentioned the hundreds of RDP houses that are still incomplete.
Mr Hlolweni said he has a great deal of respect for Ms Masina, but hates it when his respect compromises his loyalty to the community
members and as a person of African values, he feel bad when he has to direct strong words at the elders.

Shahana inspires her friendsSECUNDA - Ms Shahana Khader was diagnosed with sickle-cell anaemia (SCA) when she was three months old.
SCA is a hereditary blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the oxygen-carrying protein haemoglobin found in red blood cells.
This leads to a propensity for the cells to assume an abnormal, rigid, sickle-like shape under certain circumstances.
âNormally, your red blood cells are fl exible and round, but in my case, the red blood cells become rigid and sticky and are shaped like sickles or crescent moons.
âThis causes severe pain,â said Ms Khader.
There is no cure for the disease, how-ever treatment can relieve pain and help prevent further problems associated with it.
Her mother, Ms Amina Hassen, said when her daughter was small, she cried a lot, had high fever and her stomach was bloated.
âWe did not know that we as her par-ents were the carriers of the disease.â
When she experiences a Sickle-Cell crisis, the pain intensifi es and causes her to scream in agony.
Ms Khader began a blood drive at Kentz where she works and was inspired by her father, a plasma donor.
Mr Unus Hassen donates blood regu-larly and has already donated blood 105 times.
The Secunda Blood Bank visits Kentz every three months where there are 12 blood donors.
âThey were inspired by me,â said Ms Khader.
She gets hospitalised regularly for oxygen and severe pain medication.
She said there are still diffi cult times, but they as a family gets through it due to their strong faith and family bond.
She got married fi ve years ago, but after two years of marriage her husband was diagnosed with kidney failure.
âEverything changed and I had to look after him and myself.
âMy parents helped us to build a house in their yard so that they are available if we need them.â
Ms Khader and her family came to Secunda in 1994 and she was the fi rst Muslim to attend Highveld Ridge Pri-mary School.
âI matriculated at Highveld Park High School and studied PC engineering and pipe designing.â
According to her parents, she moti-vates them by always smiling though they can see that she is in constant pain.
Her bubbly personality and positive attitude is what makes her an inspira-tion to others.
Ms Khaderâs mother said they never hear her complaining about anything and is always optimistic.
She cannot travel long distances, be in cold weather or near any air condition-ing places. She loves water, but gets ill when she swims due to the cold temper-ature and bacteria in the water.
The 34-year-old also said her brother, Mr Shaheen Hassen, takes good care of her and is a very helpful person.
Her parents are her biggest inspira-tion in life because they support her completely.
âThey have taught me to not pity myself and to live my life to the fullest,â said Ms Khader.
Her life motto is to wake up every morning and to choose to be happy.
In her spare time she loves to cook, bake and read.
âNowadays I also enjoy gardening if the weather permits.â
One of her hobbies is to write poems about things that inspire her daily, no matter where she is. Ms Khader thanked everyone who has helped her and her
family from the time that she was diag-nosed with the disease.
âI want to inspire more people to do-nate blood so that they can help not only me, but all the others who are in need.
âI want to take life day by day and be thankful for everything, but I would also like to help people if I can.â
Ms Khader said she has made many friends and learned a lot about life through the disease. âI have a remark-able and wonderful family.â
Her father said a doctor gave their daughter eight years to live.
âWe have come this far and are not giving up hope.â

SECUNDA - Wanneer ân mens twee nuwe en vriendelike gesigte sien, moet jy weet dat dit ds. Etienne en me. Mauriza Pheiffer is.
Hiérdie twee mense is vol lewe en grappies en het onlangs na Secunda verhuis.
Ds. Pheiffer is die nuwe predikant by die N.G. Rondekerk.
Hy was voorheen vir nege jaar die
leraar op Volksrust. Hoewel me. Pheiffer huishoudkunde studeer het, is sy tans ân hoĂ«rskool onderwyseres en die departe-mentshoof van natuurwetenskappe.
Ds. Pheiffer het na skool eers ân draai in die weermag gemaak en later vir Sasol gewerk.
Die paartjie het op universiteit ontmoet en is in ds. Pheiffer se derde jaar getroud.
Hul het twee kinders wat tans studeer.Hy is in 1989 na Klerksdorp beroep en
was tot 1998 daar in die bediening.Die korporatiewe wĂȘreld het vir ân ruk-
kie aanloklik gelyk en ds. Pheiffer het in 2006 gaan ondersoek instel om te sien waaroor dĂt alles gaan, maar het weer na die bediening teruggekeer.
âOns is opgewonde om in Secunda te wees en hoewel die inwoners hier dit anders beleef, ondervind ons die mense as vriendelik en aangenaam,â het me. Pheiffer vertel. Ds. Pheiffer is lief vir lees en is handig in die kombuis, veral wan-neer dit by boerekos kom.
Kreatiewe handwerk is weer me. Pheiffer se belangstelling.
âEk sien alles as ân nuwe geleentheid en dit is ook die eerste keer dat ek saam met ân groep leraars werk en dit is vir my wonderlik. âDie mens is baie hulpvaardig en dis ân goeie en gedrewe groep mense.
âEk glo dat elke gemeente ân visie het, maar dat mens dit saam as ân span moet ontdek.
âGodsdiens gaan ook op die ou einde van die dag daaroor dat ons saam die Here moet dien,â het ds. Pheiffer vertel.

Me. Essie Fourie en me. Annetjie Fourie het lede meer oor blomme ingelig.
Die wenke wat tydens die vergadering gedeel is, is:
* Verwyder ân gomvlek op ân glas met kookolie.
* Smoor ân olievlam in ân pan met tafelsout.
* Gebruik aartappel-skyfi es (Simba of Lays) oor die kole.
Vroue het oor die goeie werk wat die Helpende Hand-tak doen, gepraat en daar is besluit dat die VLU daarby gaan aansluit.
âDit is teen ân bekostig-bare prys en dit is vir ân goeie doel,â het me. Lenie Grobler, addisionele lid, gesĂȘ.
Me. Sonja Williams, tesourier, het oor die tak se geldsake gepraat en me. Ysabel Snyman wat vir langer as 20 jaar die tesourier was, bedank.
Die VLU benodig mense wat naaldwerk, bak en blomme kan beoordeel.
âDaar word nie verreis dat diĂ© persoon ân lid hoef te wees nie.
Sy moet net beskikbaar wees om van ons kom-petisie-artikels maande-liks te beoordeel.â
Vroue gaan ook op 28
Februarie die streekverga-dering bywoon.
Daar is ook gesels hoe om nuwe lede te werf en vroue deel van die VLU-familie te raak.
âOns deel graag idees uit, lag baie, help mekaar en gee om vir mekaar,â het die voorsitter gesĂȘ.
Volgens haar maak mens nuwe vriendinne en leer so
baie nuwe dinge.âIn vandag se lewe het
ân mens nodig om te lag en gelukkig te wees, en dit is presies wat ons by die tak doen.â

Bingo kry ân nuwe huis na brandSECUNDA - ân Groepspoging deur Little Paws Big Hearts (LPBH) het daartoe gelei dat Bingo deur ân liefdevolle gesin aangeneem is.
Bingo, ân worshond, is deur diĂ© nie-winsgewende maatskappy gered nadat die Kruger-gesin Maandag, 21 Desember in ontploffi ngs in hul huis in Lehman-straat uitgewis is.
ân Ander gesin wat naby die Kruger-gesin gewoon het, ken Bingo al vir langer as agt jaar.
Bingo het hulle gereeld by hul huis besoek.
ân Lid van LPBH, mnr. Ian Haggerty, het vertel dat hy kennis met Bingo ge-maak het drie dae na die tragedie en dat hy steeds toe nog getraumatiseer was.
Bingo het eers ân paar dae by nog ân lid van LPBH deurgebring sodat hy kon herstel voordat hy aangeneem is.
Me. Nadine Venter, lid van LPBH, het dadelik ondersoek ingestel toe sy
gehoor het dat daar ân hond in die erf in Lehmanstraat was.
Sy is deur die polisie ingelig dat daar wel ân worshond agter in die erf weggekruip het.
Omdat die polisie steeds besig was om die gebied te ondersoek, kon me. Venter nie dadelik by Bingo uitkom nie.
Nadat die gebied veilig verklaar is, het lede van LPBH vir Bingo gaan haal.
âBingo word bederf en kry baie liefde by sy nuwe huis.
âTydens nog ân besoek aan Bingo, het hy na my toe aangehardloop gekom en sy stert opgewonde geswaai.
âDit lyk asof hy ân nuwe hond is,â het mnr. Haggerty gesĂȘ.
Little Paws Big Hearts het ingestem om die gesin te help om Bingo te versorg en doen ân beroep op die gemeenskap om ook te help. As jy by die LPBH wil betrokke raak, skakel Louis by 082 777 6671 of Ruchel by 082 442 7988.

Council invites the public to meetingSECUNDA - Govan Mbeki Municipal-ity invites the public to attend a council meeting on 28 January at 2pm.
This meeting must be help in terms of Section 20 of the Local Government: Mu-nicipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, and Section 130(1) of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003.
The purpose of the meeting is among
others to consider the 2014/2015 Annual Report of the municipality in compliance with Section 127 of the Local Govern-ment: Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003.
The meeting will be held at the Se-cunda Council Chambers and the notice is given in terms of Section 19 of the Lo-cal Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000.
Do not abuse call centre numberBETHAL - The police are complaining about people who are abusing their call centre.
âThe South African Police Service has es-tablished the emergency number 10111 for a good cause and the crime reporting call centre is a 24-hour call centre that deals with complaints by the public.
The calls can be made on a land line which are free or from a cell phone which are charged at a normal cell phone rate and all calls are recorded,â said Const Thomas Moga-dime, Communications offi cer.
During the school holi-days and over weekends, the police are experienc-ing a high call volume from the public during which time others need emergency attention or assistance and it has come to the attention of the police that other peo-ple are using the number for no valid reasons.
âIn some cases, we received calls from the public and when we an-swer the phone, there will be a child singing over
the phone or calling for no reason.
âWe often hear an adult telling the child to talk.â
Const Mogadime said this is unacceptable, because there are people who use the number cor-rectly who want to report serious matters to the police.
Dial 10111 only in emergencies.
Do not misuse it be-cause:
* it blocks calls from people in life-threatening situations and in need of police assistance.
* it is a waste of the policeâs time as offi cers may have to drive to the alleged crime scene.
* it is a waste of police resources as offi cers may be deployed where there is no emergency.
For less serious com-plaints and general enquiries, call the nearest police station.
âWe urge parents and their kids to not misuse the emergency number as we would not know which call might be serious and needs the attention of the police,â added Const Mogadime.
When you dial 10111 anywhere in the country, a call centre operator an-swers the call and takes the necessary informa-tion.
Remain calm when making an emergency call and speak clearly while giving the following infor-mation:
* Your name and ad-dress.
* Your telephone num-ber, if requested.
* The nearest street corner where the incident occurred.
* Other useful informa-tion, such as the number of suspects, a description of the suspects, whether or not the suspects are/were armed and the direc-tion in which they fl ed, if available.
The information is captured and a reference number given to the caller as proof and for future reference. The complaint is assigned to the local Police Community Service Centre Sector vehicle or the nearest fl ying squad vehicle.

Tshishonga says goodbye to NPAEVANDER - The National Prosecuting Authority has lost one of its best. Well-known state prosecutor, Adv Takalani Tshishonga, said goodbye to his prosecuting job at the Evander Magis-trateâs Court at the end of December.
He began his career at the local dis-trict court and was later promoted to the regional court.
Working as a regional court state prosecutor gave him the opportunity to gain experience, because he did all types of cases without any restrictions.
âI handled very complicated high pro-fi le cases such as the murder of former Govan Mbeki Deputy Mayor, Thandi Mtsweni, in 2007 who became caught up in a tender scandal and was killed.
The guilty party was brought to book and a tenderpreneur was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The case received a lot of national media coverage.
Another high profi le case that Adv Tshishonga handled was of the most wanted criminal in Mpumalanga, Sello Maake, who was charged with 56 cases of housebreaking in Secunda and became notorious for escaping from cus-tody in 2006.
Maake was rearrested in Mamelodi and had to be escorted in the police heli-copter during his court appearances.
Adv Tshishongaâs future is taking him into private practice which he opened at the beginning of the year in Secunda.
His colleagues have only praise for his work.
Mr Tumelo Malesa, an attorney based in eMbalenhle, said he worked with Adv Tshishonga for eight years at the Evan-der Magistrateâs Court.
He referred to him as a deep religious person who is very strict and dedicated to his work.
Adv Tshishonga was not easily com-promised and stood by his prosecution decisions.
âThe National Prosecution Authority is losing a soldier who is not going to be easily replaced.
âI wish him well in his future endeav-ours and know he will succeed,â said Mr Malesa.

DJ Slanka sings about love
DJ Slanka released his rst single.
eMBALENHLE - An ambitious upcoming local musician, DJ Slanka (25), aims at invading the music industry with a bang.
He has released his fi rst single hit, âLove - Hazeâ recently.
His real name is Thulane Nkonde and he was born and grew up in eMbalenhle.
DJ Slanka said he had the time of his life in the studio while recording his single hit that fea-tures a vocal singer, Mcfudge.
The song is a deep house track about a girl who is in love and obsessed with a guy.
âI am telling a beautiful story of love and the girl who would do anything for the love of here life.
âSo many people have fallen
in love with the song since its release and I am humbled by the support I get.
âIt is my dream to give deep house music a face lift.
âThis song is my amazingly humble beginning towards that.â
His music career began after he completed Grade 12 and he began to do mixes in 2012.
DJ Slanka performed at vari-ous clubs since then.
He said though he is working hard to further his music career, he still prioritises education.
He is currently studying mar-keting management at Aleph Learning Academy.
âGone are those days when art-ists were not educated and taken
advantage of. âWe are the breed that will
showcase their talents while oc-cupying high academic positions.
âI encourage every artist that they should also pursue educa-tion.â He was inspired by DJ Euphonik and other local artists.
Over the past years, DJ Slaka has been volunteering his time to help the needy and participate in a church initiative and campaign called Mormon Helping Hands.
He is currently shooting his music video. He urged people to download his music.

Hy is onlangs aangestel as Bethal Gholfklub se nuwe baanopsigter en was voorheen Witbank Gholfklub en Kriel Gholfklub se bane versorg.âEk is een van daai mense wat kan sĂȘ dat ek in ân beroep is wat ek nog altyd wou beoeofen het,â het hy gesĂȘ.
Hy het vir ân jaar as ân baano-psigter oorsee gewerk, waar hy waardevolle ondervinding opgedoen het.
Volgens hom is Bethal se gholfbaan in ân slegte toestand weens swak instandhouding, maar beplan hy om dit so spoe-dig as moontlik te verbeter. âDit neem ongelukkig tyd om ân baan weer op standaard te kry.â
Clinton is verantwoordeliik vir die opstel van penne, hy moet seker maak alles is in orde vir kompetisies, hy merk gevare op die baan, hy kontroleer ook dat almal weet wat hulle moet doen en hy sorg dat spelers op ân top-baan kan speel.
Clinton bedryf ook die geld-sake, bewaar die baan en bevorder gemeenskapsbetrok-kenheid. Vir hom is die lekker-ste deel van sy werk om buite in die natuur te werk. Hy beplan

Nie net is sy fokus op die baan se voorkoms nie, maar ook hoe die gholfklub binne en buite lyk. Sy doelwitte vir die klub is om dit so te maak dat mense dit kan geniet en kan wegloop met ân glimlag. âEk wil die gholfklub die beste een maak,â het hy gesĂȘ.
Hy het op Kriel groot geword en sy laerskool- sowel as sy hoërskoolloopbane daar voltooi.
Na skool het hy dadelik begin studeer en as ân assistant-baanopsigter saam met sy oom gewerk. âOns familie is almal groot gholfl iefhebbers en my oom en my neef is albei ook baanopsigters,â het hy gesĂȘ.
Clinton het Bethal as ân dorp met vriendelike mense beskryf en dat hulle hom dadelik laat tuis voel het.
Sy lewensmotto is: âProper planning prevents poor perfor-mance.â
In sy vrye tyd speel hy gholf, kuier saam met vriende en familie en braai graag.
Clinton nooi spelers om met verwagtinge die klub te besoek.
