OUR RENOVATION PRAYER

Heavenly Father, who led the people of Israel with a cloud by day and a flame by night, we ask you to lead us on our own journey of faith as we undertake the renovation of Your house, whose living stones we are; keep us close to You as a community making this transition by deepening our faith, and grant us patience and serenity while worshiping in a temporary space; so that our joy may be complete when we come to that renewal which is Your will for the Church in Darien. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Be sure to visit our Flickr page (https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfroAqS) or scan the above QR code to see the progress of our church renovations.

ATTENTIONPlease be extra careful driving and walking in the

parking lot due to the ongoing construction activities.

STEWARDSHIP

Offertory

The chart above details our weekly, monthly and fiscal year-to-date offertory contributions. Also, please remember St. Thomas More Parish in your estate planning.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

& DEVOTION TO THE SACRED S S HACRED EART OF JESUS

Friday, February 1, 2019 - 10:00AM-5:00PM

On First Fridays the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration on the altar of the Chapel from 10:00AM-5:00PM. At 4:45PM, following the Litany to the Sacred Heart, we celebrate Benediction before reposing the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. To be with Him will reassure you that because of his glorious resurrection you have nothing to fear. To

adore Jesus in the Eucharist is to receive and enjoy the gift of his eternal real presence. The Eucharist is Jesus' gift of himself to us. He is truly there, in the tabernacles of the world, in the form of simple bread consecrated into his sacred body, blood, soul and divinity. From there he offers us the comfort of his company and the gift of his love. Spending time with Him will remind you that he loves you so much he willingly laid down his life for you.

OMMUNION TO THE SICK & HICK OMEBOUND

If you know of someone who, due to illness or physical limitations, cannot attend Mass, and would like to receive the Eucharist, contact the parish office to arrange a home visit by a priest or one of our Extraordinary Ministers of Communion: [email protected] or 655-3303.

Walking With Purpose

Fr. Paul with Wednesday night WWP group reflecting on John 9, "The Man Born Blind", and how Jesus helps all of us to walk by the light of faith.

Tuesday Bible Study Group

You are invited. Come pray, read and ponder with us as we study Sacred Scripture and experience the “words of Eternal Life”! We meet in the Rectory Annex from 9:30AM to 11:00AM on January 22; February 5, 12, 19 & 26; March 5, 19 & 26; April 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30; May 7 & 14 (tentative). This group is present-ing an original 16 week curriculum entitled, “Mary, the Mother of God and Our Mother”. Having studied 3 topics, “Types of Mary in the Old Testament”, “Mary in the New Testament” and the early Christian document, the “Proto-Evangelium of James”, we will continue with “Mary in History”, “Mary and the Catechism of the Catholic Church”, Appearances of Mary and her Messages”, Titles of Mary, Statues and Depictions”, “Mary and the Mysteries of the Rosary”, “Mary and Some Mystics: Private Revelations”; “Mary and You”. All are welcome - Bible beginners to Bible scholars - friends, neighbors, inquirers, too. No registration, just come with a Bible. Parishioners are also welcome to join the Wednesday Evening Bible Study Group which meets at St. John Church, Darien. This group meets 7:00PM-8:30PM in Room 108 of the Parish Center and is reading and discussing the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. Both Darien Bible Groups are led by Catholic Scripture scholar, Maryann Knag, MAT, MAR. She teaches under the Magisterium and has been leading groups in CT and RI since 2004. For more information contact Maryann at 213-4809 or [email protected].

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry is a journey to prayer. You will find that creating something for someone else is a true connection to prayer. Once the shawl, blanket or teddy bear is completed, bring it to the Parish Office. Before your creation is given to the recipient, it is blessed, and a Prayer Shawl Card is included. We need your help. Shawls can be any color, any shape, any pattern. Knit or Pearl is just fine! The shawl should reach from wrist to wrist, so one can wrap the shawl around themselves. The blessings of the Prayer Shawl provides comfort to the sick, the lonely and the elderly, or shares in the joys of the newborn. Like acts of generosity, the presentation of a Prayer Shawl enriches the giver as well as the recipient. The most amazing thing about the shawl is that it is tangible evidence of our Prayers. If you have add i t i ona l ques t ions , p l e a se ema i l P a t t y a t : p ad [email protected].
