AboutThis document outlines a high-level, long-term plan and vision of TheSunniWay.

TheSunniWay was established in 2009 as an online platform to disseminate the works and teachings of Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, running under the leadership and supervision of Mufti Zahid Hussain al-Qadiri.

Since then, we have grown significantly and now have a large online presence and platform, and we are temporarily renting a property

on Great George Street, Preston, providing Advanced & Hifz Classes.

The current era is fraught with new trials and tribulations and it is vital that we tackle these challenges with a long-term, ambitious vision. For too long now, the Sunni community have stagnated and only operated within their comfort zones. This has led to a generation of Muslim youth who are lacking

religious guidance, disillusioned, and are ill-equipped to deal with today’s challenges to their faith.

The focal point of this plan is to provide excellent education and produce the next generation of English speaking scholars, while at the same time making a hub, a Markaz, which meets the modern-day religious needs of the community.

In 2020, we launched a unique application which helps Muslims calculate their Qaza Salah and keep track of them while they pray them. The app trended in the Top 100 charts of the app stores.

“Just trying it out, looks good, nice interface design and hadith quotes, easy to use and it helps. There should have been an islamic application like this ages ago. A very good idea.” Thanks a lot brothers

In an increasingly technological era, we strive to use the latest technologies to spread the true teachings of Islam.

Opening Statement

“Without doubt your effort is diverse. As for him who gave and became

fearful (towards Allah) and believed in goodness, then very soon, We

will prepare ease for him. But as for him who became miserly and rich

and refused goodness, then very soon, We will prepare hardship for him

and his wealth will not help him when he falls in destruction. Indeed,

guidance is our responsibility and indeed, to Us belongs the world and the

hereafter, so I am warning you of the flaming fire.”

(Surah Al-Layl, Verse: 4-14)

Since I finished my studies and returned to the UK to serve the one and only true faith (Islam) that we strongly believe in and adhere to, and also when I was fortunate to travel and serve the faith in many other countries around the globe, I found a huge shortage of authentic and qualified English-speaking Scholars that follow the true Sunni Creed in accordance to the Maslak of Sufies of the middle east and the great Imam Ahmed Raza Khan, Allah is pleased with him.

The demand has since increased further and continues at this very moment and a supply that can fulfil is nowhere in sight. Even parts of the Sub-Continent (Such as the South of India), now require English-Speaking Scholars to guide their youth and community of professionals. Whether we like it or not, the English language has dominated the globe and is the most popular official language of the world. It is an official language in 59 countries of the World.

It is also necessary for us to wake up and realise that we are at war, an intellectual and ideological war. Nominal Muslims and deceitful non-Muslims have been and still are attempting to hijack our faith by distorting and misinterpreting our traditional and sacred texts which results in our people especially the youth in schools, colleges and universities to be misled and misguided. They have misrepresented our faith throughout the world. We can split these people in to two

Mufti Zahid Hussain (Head Mufti at TheSunniWay)

TheSunniWay Vision

groups, one is the extremist and the other is the forever compromising apple-polisher. The media has exploited the former and succeeded on many stages to demonise our faith. In fact, the result of extremism has been devastating and has cost the lives of many innocent people. As for the latter, it has resulted in the birth of perennialism and a compromise of many tenets of our faith. Both are extremely dangerous threats to the faith of our children and the generations to come.

The only way to challenge this and to give the appropriate representation of Islam on a local and global platform is to produce intellectual Scholars that are well equipped with Islamic and Academic expertise to challenge these extremist and bootlicking ideologies. We have failed our children and we have failed to challenge these threats up to now due to our Institutes being inadequately resourced to prepare the students for the challenges of this 21st Century. The reason for this is that the overwhelming majority that teach in our institutes are not Scholars and nor are they qualified and due to English-Speaking Scholars being a rare commodity, many institutes have recruited teachers that are representing the aforementioned extreme

ideologies.

Bearing the above in mind, it is our communal and collective obligation as the Ummah of our Saviour and Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, to facilitate the production of competent and qualified English-Speaking Scholars that can serve the faith here at home in the UK and also around the globe in all the continents of the world. The idea is to integrate the traditional Islamic Scholarship Programme with Academic subjects that are deemed necessary in the 21st Century.

The facility we are planning will be a model for all communities to follow providing all necessary and recommended services to the young and old alike and promoting community engagement and cohesion. Some of these services will be extended to non-Muslims where permitted and encouraged by the Shariah.

Our women have been deprived of involvement in our Mosques and Institutes for too long and this facility will aim to provide complete access to males and females, fairly and equally, ensuring a safe environment for both while upholding the Shar’i Guidelines. Islam does not discriminate between people

due to where they come from or their community, cast or race. Therefore, we aim to be a facility that represents the diversity Islam stands for.

I understand the importance of sending our charity funds abroad to save lives and support our Mosques and Institutes; I do so myself, however, it is more important to consider the need of safeguarding Faith and Imaan at home for ourselves, our youth, our children and the generations to come. Our charity spending must be proportionate. Saving and protecting Imaan is more important. Moreover, our plan is to not only safeguard the Imaan of our people at home in the UK, but rather, for the whole world. This investment is a win-win proposal, we secure the future of our faith and we secure peace in the grave and the afterlife where Allah has promised a minimum of ten folds in returns as reward. Thus, I appeal that we all support this plan financially, physically, and mentally. You are not doing a favour to Allah, rather Allah is doing you a favour by granting you the opportunity to partake in this noble project.

1. Establish grand institutions providing full education.

2. Proficient students shouldbe given grants.

Ala Hazrat’s 10 Point PlanAla Hazrat, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, gave us a blueprint for the advancement of Sunni Islam. This plan is still as pertinent as ever and we have incorporated various aspects of it into our vision to ultimately safeguard the faith of our current and future generations.

3. Pay teachers well so that all their needs are met and they can concentrate fully on teaching.

4. Students should be examined and made to specialise in appropriate fields, and paid to work in those fields.

5. Graduates should be paid and sent to different locations where they can serve by teaching, lecturing etc.

6. Pay for works to be written which advocate the creed of the Ahlus Sunnah and refute heretical sects.

Overview

Education

Deliver exceptional education, both religious and secular, whilst providing residential facilities to make the institute accessible to students from across the world. Educational provisions to range from full-time Islamic scholar courses to part-time courses for children, adults and working professionals.

Community

Become a hub for the community providing various outreach programs and recreational activities to establish and strengthen ties with the youth and the general Muslim community. A warm, welcoming environment where people feel comfortable to come and find solutions to their problems.

Publishing

A multi-faceted approach which includes professional, high quality, translations of the works of classical Islamic scholars. Also, an easily accessible platform for Muslims to receive answers for their general Islamic queries and works written on relevant topics providing much-needed guidance.

Events

Commemorate key Islamic dates and events by holding programmes primarily aimed at the English speaking generations. Host renowned, international guest keynote speakers and spiritual leaders.

The key objective is to provide an exceptional facility to the Muslim communities for their religious guidance and needs in accordance to the classical teachings of the Ahl-us-Sunnah as interpreted by Imam Ahmed Rida Khan of Bareilly. A facility that sets a new standard for all institutes and Mosques in the country.

KEY PILLARS

13

TheSunniWay Vision

Facilitate the advanced jurisprudence (Mufti) course to enable and authorise Scholars to provide reliable and authentic religious decrees and edicts when needed.

Provision of an organised, structured syllabus which ensures that students are well versed with the foundations and fundamentals of Islam prior to moving onto more advanced and ancillary topics.

Raising awareness of the radical, extremist ideologies which are spreading and educating the community on how to react when confronted with these ideologies, especially in the workplace and at schools, colleges, universities etc.

Provide core secular education and qualifications such as GCSEs, A Levels, Degrees, as well as nursery & childcare provisions.

Education

Boarding Facilities (Darul Uloom)It is imperative that as an educational institute, good quality accommodation is provided for students to stay and study, so that location or distance is not a barrier for anyone who wishes to pursue Islamic Studies.

Local students do not have to reside at the institute, however, the option and facilities are available (at cost) for non-local students. The institute will obtain a Tier 4 visa sponsorship license, to enable International students to obtain visas and reside in the UK while studying at the institute.

It is the need of the hour to produce competent, English speaking scholars who are experts in the traditional Islamic sciences and are well-equipped to deal with the challenges of the 21st Century. At the same time, it is important that the Muslim population as a whole to have sufficient knowledge regarding the fundamentals of Islam. This institute serves as an education hub which meets both of these needs for Males and Females.

Producing the next generation of English-speaking scholars

Facilitate the complete classical Aalim course (Dars-e-Nizami) to eradicate the worldwide shortage of English-speaking Muslim Scholars that are fully equipped to counter the challenges faced by mainstream Islam and Muslims in modern day society.

14

TheSunniWay Action Plan

A thriving educational institute should encompass many additional services as well as full-time Islamic education, some of which are mentioned below:

PART-TIME COURSESShort courses and one-off seminars offered on evenings and weekends for children, adults and working professionals e.g. Cleanliness, Salah, Zakaat, Inheritance, Purification of the Heart, Rules of Business & Finance, Classes for Reverts etc.

Employment and work experience opportunities will be provided for proficient students and graduates to work for the Deen. Employment can be provided in various fields such as teaching, writing, translating, answering religious queries etc. Such experience will also be very beneficial for students moving on to work at other institutes.

TEACHER TRAININGTraining and qualifications for Madrassah teachers which improves the education provided at other institutes too.

ONLINE COURSESFacilitate remote, online courses, making classical Islamic education in the English language even more accessible.

SUMMER CAMPSResidential summer camps which encompass phyisical activities, religious talks, group exercises and Q&As. A fun, engaging environment for youth and adults alike during the school summer holidays. Also a good opportunity for students and families from abroad to benefit when it is only practical to visit the UK on a short-term visa.

Publishing

Many relevant works written by classical Islamic scholars remain untranslated or poorly translated. Establish a team of scholars and interpreters who are converting these works into various languages. Books should primarily be aimed at the general public, with more scholarly works also being translated which showcase masterpieces written by our great scholars.

The use of technology continues to grow exponentially, and so it is of paramount importance that we regularly publish articles on relevant issues online. Instead of a weekly magazine, weekly articles can be published online and disseminated internationally.

A lot of people have religious queries on a daily basis, however, they have no accessible means to get them answered. TheSunniWay already provides a Q&A service but this should be scaled out with much quicker turnaround times and using technology such as online chat to provide quick, instantaneous answers.

MALE COMMITTEE FEMALE COMMITTEE

As a registered UK charity, it is mandatory that we have a board of trustees who oversee the overall running of the charity and ensure that we meet our charitable objectives. These trustees contain both male and female representation.

The boards of trustees will appoint a management board which will manage the day-to-day activities of the institute and will contain key roles such as Finance Director and Legal Counsel. There will

also be a Business Manager whose responsibility will be to spearhead the various projects and initiatives outlined in this vision. Some of these roles, will be voluntary, others part & full-time employment, and will only be filled by individuals who are experienced in the relevant fields.

There will also be a board of advisors which will consist of successful businesspeople and professionals, who are not involved in an official capacity,

but are people the charity can consult when making key decisions and benefit from their expertise.

We want our services and facilities to be accessible to both males and females, hence we have included separate male and female committees who can organise events, services and activities relevant to them.

TheSunniWay has built a large local and international presence through digital mediums and a message can instantly reach thousands of people. We will appeal for individuals who have the capacity to do so to make a one-off donation of £1,000 (or more). They can also opt to donate this over a set period e.g. 6 months.

To ensure regular income, we will ask for people, especially working professionals, to donate small amounts monthly, with plans ranging from £5-£100 per month. 100 monthly donators can bring in additional revenue of £36,000 pa (avg. donation £30). Direct debits will be setup so donations are made automatically.

For UK taxpayers, the UK government give an additional 25% on top of any donations, and there are further benefits for higher rate taxpayers. This will be a significant source of income which will also contribute towards the day-to-day running of the institute.
