• ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF FORGETTING:-
Some people may believe that forgetting has more disadvantages than advantages, but forgetting isadaptive and necessary so that learning can occur. If we remembered everything, we would havean information overload; therefore, we only remember the most important information. Althoughwe remember tragedies, the emotions that are associated with those tragedies are forgotten orweakened over time. This way when we remember a tragic event, we may still experience sadness, but the emotions are not as powerful and overwhelming as they were when the even occurred.People with Source Autobiographical memory remember everything that has happened to themand also experience the specific emotions as if the tragic events were happening again. Imagineyou are having an extremely bad day when all of a sudden someone calls you and tells you that youjust won a free trip to Hawaii. Your excitement might cause you to forget about the things thatwent wrong earlier that day. In this case, forgetting would be an advantage. The disadvantages offorgetting are more obvious. The ability to forget may seem to be a terrible thing if you forgetinformation you need in order to do well on a test. Another disadvantage of forgetting is if youforget someone’s name five minutes after you meet them. Also, if your perspective memory failsyou, you may miss a deadline for an application or essay.

They are:-When a person can easily and rapidly learn a material it definitely shows a good memoryas he is relating it to a material learnt earlier. Half learned material cannot be retained orreproduced properly in the mind.
An individual with good memory means that he can retain the maximum amountof learnt material in his mind.
Another sign of good memory is easy recall. The capacity to bring forth the imageor language for use in the present situation, or in other words, easy reproduction of alearnt material to achieve a purpose is a mark of good memory.
Clear and quick recognition is a sure sign of good memory.Utility or service ability is a sign of good memory. Remembering the past
