360 students of class II, mesmerized the gathering with their splendid performances, mesmerising
the audience and providing them with some food for thought. The play “Zara Sochen Kya Hum Kar
Sakte Hain” conveyed the message of ostentations and vanity and celebrated the beauty of pure tal-
ent despite the deprivations in some parts of the society. The plot presented forward an angel fasci-
nated by life on earth. She dawns upon earth and observes the inequality prevalent here. Children
belonging to the rich and well-to-do families go to reputed schools and celebrate their annual func-
tion with flair and pomp while those belonging to poverty-stricken families are deprived of the plat-
form where they can showcase their tremendous talent.
‘Gul’ the angel, witnesses the extravagant life style of the rich kid Rahul, which depicts vanity and
ostentation. At the same time the poor kids on the street were shown craving for delicacies and later
relished on the leftovers with an air of joy and satisfaction sans greed. The play was taken to anoth-
er level when blended with the theme was the style of Experimental Theatre, where questions were
thought provoking and poignant questions were constantly asked to the audience about the daily
social issues and what could be done on an individual level, as parents and concerned citizens to
help the deprived.
Gul continues to roam around the city, her wings tarnished and her face dull and lifeless due to pol-
lution. Then, she meets Rajkumar, a slum dweller. She comes face to face with the other side of the
frame and exposed to her are the hardships of these kids who survive as beggars and rag pickers but
their eyes look for the treasure house of hopes and dreams. The question that lingers is: how will
they come true? Who will fill in the colours of reality in these day dreams?
The angel, suffocated and unable to breathe in the polluted atmosphere of the city ponders on the
fact how this situation can be tackled by a combined effort. At the end of the play all the students in
their innocent eloquence urged the gathering to make an effort to change the prevailing conditions,
with the song “Saathi Haath Badhana”. Embedded within the play, were awe inspiring classical and
contemporary dance performances. The emotional aura of the concept and its immaculate portray-
al by the students evoked the most sympathetic sentiments of the gathering.
Mr. N N Mathur appreciated the efforts of the little ones wholeheartedly. He motivated the students
to show respect to the elders and inculcate sensitivity towards the environment also highlighting
their right to education. Being a grandparent himself he was touched and mesmerised by the talent
and expressions of the little kids on such a poignant issue. He extended heartfelt thanks to the chil-
dren for the enthralling experience. Mr. Arvind Bhatt said that this experience was beyond the
boundaries of imagination and happiness which can be achieved only when hopes are fulfilled. He
also emphasized that the discipline that these students might have inculcated during these days will
motivate them throughout by adding that it is time that the grandparents and parents are motivat-
ed so as to inspire the kids to be what they want to be, discover their skills and nurture them to its
fullest….
