Cheops Pyramid

Seven wonders were constructed by humankind and these antic constructions were stil being explored by archeologists.  For the first time, the concept of seven wonders was dealed by Heredot who was a famous historian of the century 5 of  B.C,  as we tried to search the history of seven wonders, the unique wonder still surviving is Cheops Pyramid located in Egypt, Giza City .  Cheops Pyramid was constructed on behalf of pharaoh Khufu as memorial tomb  which is the oldest and the biggest one of pyramids in Egypt.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon

What is the meaning of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Are they really hanging or no? Regarded as one of  the seven wonders of the world , on the B.C 7th century Nabukadnezar, the king of Babylon  built it for his wife Semiramis on the dessert of Mesopotamia just like a paradise in which there had been many kind of flowers , fruits, egzotic animals, waterfalls designed exceeding from the floors of the construction.  There is no trace definite coming to current time except from archaeological remains.

The Temple of Artemis –Diana Temple

In Greek – ‘’Artemission’’  in Latin ‘’Artemisium’’, the temple was located in Selcuk Ephesus in b.c 500, built of marble fort he honor of Artemis which is greek goddes of  hunting and nature as believed.

From the point of view archaelogical and architectural, the temple was constructed with three stages by also the contributions of famous sculptors , Polyclitus, Pheidias, Cresilas, Phradmon. The Temple of Artemis  was also a market and a religious institute. During centuries this temple had been visited by many merchants, kings, artists, tourists. Herostratus immortalized the name of temple by burning.

Statue of Zeus in Olympia

Statue of Zeus was built in Olympia in B.C 450 .Zeus was the king of gods of greeks .The Statue was made of gold and ivory metal pieces placed on wooden frame, holding goddess of victory, Nike with his right hand and a monarch scepter on which there was an eagle with his left hand. Olympic Games were being organized on behalf of Zeus in that period and this was the biggest festival of Greeks for Zeus. The Statue was destroyed and disappeared with a big fire. A few pieces of the statue are being exhibited in Louvre Museum.

Colossus of Rhodes

The construction of  Colossus took 12 years and completed

 in B.C 282. With 32 meters height, was made of bronze supported by iron and stone on behalf of the God of Sun by Rhodesians.  It was regarded  as symbol of unity on the island as well as a huge statue. This statue had a role of indicating the land for sailers, finally destroyed by an earthquake.

The Pharos Lighthouse of Alexandria

The lighthouse was built on the island of Pharos in the city of Alexandria in Egypt in B.C 285 along the dangerous coast in order to direct the sailors. It was regarded as the highest lighthouse.  for  the construction of the Castle of Bodrum.
