#1 "For, behold, he cometh in the first watch of the night, and he shall also come in the second watch, and again he shall come in the third watch" The Lord will come three times in secret prior to his coming in glory. First during the Dispensation of the Last Times (in the meridian of time) Second during the Dispensation of the Gospel of Abraham (During the 14 year ministry of Joseph Smith) Third During the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times (During the third watch, four generations after Joseph Smith's ministry)

#2 "...And then understood they the parable which he spake unto them, that the Gentiles should be destroyed also.." During the meridian of time the Gospel went first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. During the Ministry of Joseph Smith it went first to the Gentiles and then to the Jews. During the third watch the gentiles will return, repent and then take the gospel to the world

#3 "Therefore I will raise up unto my people a man, who shall lead them like as Moses led the children of Israel" In Section one of the D&C the Lord states that all of the promises and prophecies in modern revelation shall come to pass. That includes the promise in sections 103 about Joseph Smith returning to lead Israel forth.

#4 "It is not necessary that God should give us all things in his FIRST COMMISSION to us" Joseph Smith taught the doctrine of the "first commission" and "second commission" regarding the first elders of the church.

#5 "That ye may be prepared in all things when I shall send you AGAIN...... the mission I have COMMISSIONED you... to go forth for the LAST TIME.." Section 88 teaches that the first laborers of the last kingdom will be called to go forth again in the end times, after their first commission.

#6 A seer will I raise up...not to the bringing forth of my word only..but to the convincing them of my word, which shall have already gone forth..." 2nd Nephi 3 reveals that after Joseph brings forth the word during his first ministry, he will later return to convince

Amazing quote from JS indicating 1) that John the Baptist and Peter James and John administered the letter of the Gospel, law, commandments, ordinances. 2) The high priesthood is separate and distinct from that which was administered by angels. It is the Holy Order after the Son of God which can preach the Gospel in the administration of the spirit and keys of the Kingdom of God.

#14 "That thy church may come forth out of the wilderness of darkness" A keyword search on "Church" and "Darkness" proves that the restored church returned back into the wilderness and will come forth again at a later time

In a commentary on Isaiah 52 the Prophet Joseph Smith revealed that the saints of the latter days would lose the priesthood but have it restored to them at a later time when they return.

(Mormon 8:38) I wonder if Moroni saw the “doctrine” portion of the “Doctrine and Covenants” (curently known as Lectures on Faith, taken out of that holy cannon of scripture under the direction of Heber J. Grant?

I wonder if he could see that virtually very one of the original doctrines of the kingdom taught during the first seven years of the restored church would be rejected by the latter day saints?

Of course we don’t know if the window of time that

dictating plans and calling forth his brethren...." The return of Joseph Smith to orchestrate that final gathering of Zion was well known in the early church. Brigham Young taught it as well.

#22 "..then the Prophet Joseph and others will make their appearance and those who have remained faithful will be selected to return to Jackson County Heber C. Kimball prophesied about the return of Joseph Smith.

#23 "...I promise you when I come again I will lead you forth, so that where I am you shall be with me.."

#24 "I the Lord have called thee.. and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles..." Isaiah 42 prophesies about the Davidic mission of Joseph Smith and how he is given as a covenant to the people.

#25 "..thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel..." Isaiah 49 provides a Davidic lamentation that describes a servant who initially fails to gather Israel and yet he is raised up at a latter time to fulfill his work.

#26 "A civil war more bloody and cruel than the rebellion..will be a smashing up of this nation about which time the SECOND GREAT WORK has to be done"

In an interview David Whitmer spoke of a second civil war that would be the smashing up of this nation. He said that at about that time the SECOND GREAT WORK has to be done. It woud be like the work Joseph did. It would involve the translation of the sealed plates.

#27 "..They shall not go forth unto the Gentiles until the day that they shall repent of their iniquity, and become clean before the Lord.." The Book of Mormon informs us that the additional plates do not come forth until the Gentiles repent

Moroni was looking at was limited to that first generation of Saints or if it included all four generations that were to follow the restoration of the Church prior to the ushering in of the Marvelous Work and a Wonder.

The Bridegroom Tarried… The remarkable thing about the appointed time of September 11th 1836 for the redemption of Zion is that while it is used in anti-Mormon literature to discredit Joseph Smith and the restoration movement, it actually provides one of the most compelling prophetic arguments for identifying the true, restored Church of Christ. The initial failure of the Saints to gather to the wedding feast in the land of Zion at the appointed time had been prophetically depicted in the parable of the Ten Virgins!

The parable of the 10 virgins was a prophecy about the latter day restored church falling asleep and causing the bridegroom to tarry... postponing the marriage date.

I would submit that the Church of Christ that was restored to the earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith is the only Church on the face of the earth that can document the literally fulfillment of the parable of the Ten Virgins within their own religious history.

Interpretation and Commentary on Isaiah 48 & 1st Nephi 20 This amazing chapter is a prophesy that after the gentiles rejected the fulness of the gospel, the Lord would come suddenly to his temple in secret and give the Saints a gospel of “former things”, even the preparatory gospel of Abraham.

This would fulfill the prophecy of Christ in 3rd Nephi wherein he said that after the gentiles reject the fulness of the gospel, he would remember his covenant with Abraham and Israel. Latter day Saints are now given the name of Israel in their patriarchal blessings. They are called by the name of Israel rather than by the name of Christ until the 3rd watch opens up and they have the opportunity once again to accept the fulness of the gospel and truly be called by the name of Christ again)

Seven Shepherds and an Angel Using the key words "in times past" one can connect the dots between the seven servants identified in section 84 and the seven servants identified in section 29. These seven men are the ones mentioned in the Book of Revelations and in Zachariah. They are among the angels of God spoken of in Matthew 24 who will gather the elect of God from the four corners of the world before Christ returns in glory.

Seven Seals and a Paradisiacal Millennium We may not know the exact day and hour but we do know the season. Based on passages from the word of

God and the words of Joseph Smith, we know that the prophetic timeline of this earth before becoming sanctified is 8,000 consisting of seven seals representing seven thousand years of temporal time plus a paradisiacal millennium during which time the earth leaves temporal time and returns into a different dimension of time or eternity.

“Bring AGAIN Zion” A few posts ago I talked about an exciting find in section 6 of the D&C that showed that Oliver and Joseph had been given a gift that would bring to light the existing ministry that Sidney Rigdon had been involved in.

In it we discussed how Oliver and his companions played an important part in bringing to light the ministry by taking the Book of Mormon to Sidney Rigdon and how Joseph Smith played an important part by giving a revelation which identified the fact that Sidney had been called to a great work without even knowing it, and that he would have an even greater work in the future. Additional revelations followed through the prophet which gave additional information about the past and future ministry of Sidney Rigdon.

I still feel that everything discussed in that post is applicable and perhaps even a shadow fulfillment of the prophecy for the 2nd watch however, I think there is more to it.

Verse one of the third chapter of Malachi must be read in context in order to understand the cryptic message

the set time to redeem Zion

On August 16th 1834, Joseph Smith wrote a letter to Lyman Wight and the brethren on the High Council in Missouri telling them that the spirit had informed him that the leaders of the Church in Zion must use-

“every effort to prevail on the churches to gather to those regions and situate themselves to be in readiness to move into Jackson Co. in two years from the Eleventh of September next which is the appointed time for the redemption of Zion“.

The date that Joseph Smith gave for the redemption of Zion coincides with the word of the Lord in section 64 which was also given on September 11th, in 1831:

“…I the Lord will to retain a strong hold in the land of Kirtland, for the space of five years in the which I will not overthrow the wicked, that thereby I may save some. And after that day, I the Lord will not hold any guilty that shall go with an open heart up to the land of Zion ; for I, the Lord require the hearts of the children of men.”

We see from section 64 that three years prior to the letter Joseph Smith wrote to the brethren in Zion, the Lord had revealed that Kirtland would no longer remain a stronghold for the members of the church after September 11th 1836 and that if any were to enter the land of Zion at that appointed time, they would not be held guilty for their actions.
