From Broken Bow, take Hwy 2, 17 miles east to Ansley and turn south on Hwy 183. The Ranch is located 16 miles south of the Ansley on Hwy 183. The ranch is on the east side of the road.

We have been raising registered Hereford cattle continuously since 1977 and have been at our current location since 2006. Art and Jean have eight mar-ried children and 35 grandchildren located in California, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas and Virginia. Linton Polled Herefords is the home of Hyalite Herefords, named after Hyalite Creek in Bozeman, Montana, where the herd resided for 13 years.

We calve about eighty cows annually. The cowherd runs on the home ranch and nearby corn stalks. Bull calves are developed with our commercial customers in mind and are marketed privately, primarily as yearlings with a few carried over to two-year-olds. Most of our calves are sired by herd bulls we own, but we do use a few selected outside sires through A.I. We also use ET to increase the influence of our top cows.

Ours is a performance-oriented breeding program directed at the produc-tion of germ plasm to add value to the herds of our commercial and purebred customers. We stress calving ease, strong maternal traits, rapid growth and carcass merit, without sacrificing functionality. High accuracy EPDs are a valuable tool in our selection program. We provide complete performance information to our customers including carcass ultrasound.

Our cow herd is strong in Felton genetics. Most of our cows are daughters of KT Top Secret 1030, Schu-Lar On Target 22S and EFBeef Foremost U208, all of whom were herd sires here but are now gone. Our main herd sire is Hyalite Resource 331, a home-raised son of KCF Bennett Revolution X51 and Hyalite 22S Lass 018, whose semen rights are leased to Select Sires. He has calves in the AHA Young Sire Test at Olsen Ranches. Also used heavily by AI is Hyalite On Target 936. Natural service sires in use are BBF Reliance X51 B1, KCF Bennett 2107 B607 and Hyalite 936 Target 579ET.

Thank you for visiting our herd on the 2016 Nebraska Hereford Tour.

Zero Hereford Ranch will be on display at Linton Polled Herefords.

Saturday - Stop #1

The Zero Hereford Ranch is located 18 miles south of Ansley, or 7 miles north of Miller on Hwy 183.

In 1920, William P. Winter Sr. purchased ten Hereford heifers and one Hereford bull. He began building his herd in Graham County Kansas.

In 1931, because of drought, the herd was moved to McPhereson County Nebraska. The herd was moved several times and eventually ended up at the Miller location in the early 1960’s.

This has always been a family operation. It still is, with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations now involved.

The cow herd, mostly commercial, is predominantly Line One and now is around 700 head. We no longer have bull auctions, but do sell a lim-ited number of bulls and heifers private treaty. Current herd bulls include 7 L1 Domino bulls from Jameson Herefords and 5 home raised bulls.

We will have a pen of cattle on display at the Linton Polled Hereford tour stop. We look forward to seeing you there.

Kucera’s Beaver Creek Ranch

Frank, Luke & Carl Kucera77905 WPA Sherman Ave.

Litchfield, NE 68852Frank: 308-452-4179 or Luke: 308-293-5346

Kucera’s Beaver Creek Ranch has been running registered Hereford cows for the last 50 years. The majority of the bulls used are polled with a few horned utilized as outcross genetics.

We have always attempted to have a breeding program, line breeding bulls that have produced females that stand out in our herd. Our cattle are based on performance, functionality, and profit for the commercial cattleman.

Most of the seedstock cattle are marketed private treaty and sold into commercial herds. On average 25-30 bulls are sold as yearlings and 15-20 heifers are sold as bred 2 year olds. This year we will have 20 head of run-ning age cows AI’d to angus bulls for sale. The steer calves are marketed through Huss Livestock in Kearney every December.

Select heifers are marketed through the Cornhusker Classic Futurity Sale in Grand Island in November.

Thank you for coming to our stop. If you have any questions or would like to see more cattle please feel free to ask.

From Linton’s, turn right/north onto Hwy 183, go north 4 miles, turn right/east onto Cumro RD, go east 4 miles to Mason Rd, turn left, north 4 miles to Litchfield RD. Turn right/east and go 7 miles to Hwy 2. Turn right/southeast onto Hwy 2, go 6 miles through Litchfield to 778 RD. Turn left/east immediately after bridge onto 778 RD being mindful of trains. Certified Hereford Beef, LLC was established in 1995 as the brand-ed beef program of the American Hereford Association. With the main goal of adding value to Hereford genetics, Certified Hereford Beef continues to grow and gain market share as distribution grows across the U.S. and abroad.

To qualify for the program, cattle must be either Hereford or Hereford-British crossbred and exhibit a white face, signifying the Hereford influence in that animal. Cattle must also meet a set of strict carcass specifications to be identified as Certified Hereford Beef. Producers interested in the program can contact Trey Befort, Director of Commercial Programs, to learn more about the pro-gram.

Performance testing was started in the 1950’s. We focus on birth weight, calving ease, marbling, feedlot performance and cow efficiency. To prove our value, retained ownership and grid marketing was started in 1997 and to add consistency in targeting our selection for phenotype, body shape and mature weight, MSI Technology (automated linear measurements) was started in 1998.

Dr. Cain continues the practice of linebreeding proven sire lines and selec-tively testing new genetics that have some genetic tie. The Herefords are made up of Polled progeny of Cains Prospect J075, Cains Domino 0270, National Reference Sire Multiple Trait Leader CSU Ram Dominator 4203 (owned with CSU and Olsen Ranches), his polled son Cains Ram Domino 7004R and polled grandson Cains Double Time 0155C. We would like to welcome everyone to our tour stop.

Estergard Ranch is operated by Richard and Cyndi-Lou Estergard. The registered herd was started the 70s from some 4-H heifers. My parents and grandparents were commercial Hereford producers.

Our first registered cattle were mainly from Paul and John Ridder. The present cowherd is Line 1 and expected to produce like any commercial cow.

Fertility, longevity, and efficient production are always demanded. ARROW CL1 DOM 4180, CL1 DOMINO 0152K, and RH XP L1 DOMINO 5057 are huge influences on the cowherd.

Present herd sires are CL1 DOMINO 337A, L1 DOMINO 08590 and 2 sons of L1 DOMINO 07441. We also have a small band of Quarter horses.

Ridder Hereford RanchJohn & Mary Ridder

79225 Rye Valley Road, Callaway, NE 68825Cell: 308-836-4430www.ridderranch.com

Ridder Hereford Ranch began in 1907 when John’s grandparents Theodore and Elizabeth Ridder moved west of Callaway from north-eastern Nebraska. They started their foundation herd with Mousel Bros. cattle and from other reputable Nebraska breeders.

Their son Paul took over the herd at the conclusion of WW II. Paul sold at the ranch and at consignment sales, showing carload bulls in Denver through the 1970’s. John took his first carload of bulls to the National Western in 1975. This was, and still is, a primary means of showing breeders and commercial cow-calf operators our newest herd genetics. From their first herd bull, Rector 334160, Ridders have strived to pur-chase and breed practical and successful cattle which will improve our customer’s cow herd and benefit them at the point of sale. Ridder’s have sold private treaty and, for the past five decades, via their annual sale at the ranch’s sale barn, where the tour dinner will be served and the barn dance will take place.

John and Mary’s children are the 4th generation of Hereford breeders -- all are involved in the family business -- and Joe and Christine’s two children Jack and Grace make up the 5th generation. On tour day you will see: cow-calf pairs, Herd Bulls and heifers.

Thank you for coming on the Nebraska Hereford Tour and to our stop.

47386 827th RD, Burwell, NE 68823Trevor: 308-214-1543 or Kaci: 308-214-0950

TK Cattle Company is owned & operated by Trevor, Kaci and Khloe Toelle and is located east of Burwell, Neb. The operation was established in 2012 after we were joined in marriage. We have both been around the cattle industry our entire life with Kaci growing up with her family’s operation Nelson Herefords and Trevor has much knowledge and experience in the area of general cattle operations and nutrition.

The goal for the operation from the female aspect is to produce top quality, eye appealing females that have tremendous genetics and the ability to be successful in the show ring and then be able to go on and be an outstanding producing female in a herd! For our bull production we are looking to raise bulls that still have an eye appealing look but be completely sound from the ground up so they are able to cover ground in pasture. Adding pounds along with eye appeal is a great thing for our commercial and purebred customers alike.

We both believe that our customers success is truly our success. We love working with junior age members and love watching our cattle go in the show ring and be successful in their future years after their done showing. Helping the younger generation is helping the future of our breed and ag-riculture in general.

We are located 9 miles east of Burwell on highway 91 and 2 miles North on 474 Road, follow the ranch signs and thanks for joining us on the Nebraska Hereford Tour and we look forward to visiting with you all!

From the Cobblestone Inn in Broken Bow, drive to Burwell, approximately 1 hour, going north/east on Hwy 91, continue east on Hwy 91, go 9 miles to 474 RD, turn left/north onto 474 road driving 2 miles, turn left/west go ¼ mile to TK Cattle Company stop with Nelson Herefords.

47966 Silver RD, Burwell, NE 68823Brett: 308-214-0334 John: 308-214-1272 Justin: 308-750-5288

We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to look through some of our cattle. Hereford roots run deep in the Nelson family as John Theo-dore Nelson had a registered hereford herd that eventually dispersed un-der the XL ranch name, prior to 1957. Thead Nelson officially established Nelson Herefords in 1957. Soon after, Thead bought Floyd Tucker’s cow herd and in the early 1970s, John M Nelson added some registered females from Claire Clements and Howard Bodyfield.

The cowherd consists of registered and some commercial cattle. We have started using E.T. more extensively, using most of the commercial cows as recips. We currently have embryos for sale from our top donors mated to some great bulls. Some of our current herd and A.I. sires include NH Cactus Jack 509 ET, H Big Rib 4250 ET, R 0141 North Star 57B, NH BN Sensation 405, NJW 73S W18 Hometown 10Y and DKF RO Cash Flow 0245 ET. We also recently purchased a share in the high selling bull, Harvie 40Y Winston 252C, from Harvie Ranching in Canada.

We strive to raise our cattle in a real world environment, with minimal supervision and feed. The cattle graze pasture and cornstalks for most of the year until calving when higher quality forages are made available. Our goal is to produce cattle that work great in both the Purebred and Commercial industry.

We sell most of our bulls by private treaty. Bulls are also consigned to the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic and we sell show calves, semen and embryos by private treaty. You can also find us with cattle in the yards at National Western Stock Show. Nelson Herefords and Boothill Herefords are thrilled to be donating a heifer to the winner of the youth judging contest. We appreciate you stopping in and being a part of the Nebraska Hereford tour. We welcome you to visit us again.

Nelson Herefords will be on display at the TK Cattle Co. ranch stop.

Boothill HerefordsKent, Linda, Jackie & Abigail Lewis82852 Kent Ave., Burwell, NE 68823

Cell: 308-214-0618

Boothill Herefords is operated by Kent & Linda Lewis and daughters Jackie and Abigail Lewis, with sage advice from Kent’s mom, Jeanette.

The Lewis roots run deep, with Jackie and Abi being the fifth generation to run Hereford cattle in Loup County. From the beginning in 1904, com-mercial Hereford cows were the backbone of the family’s operation until Angus genetics were added in 1984. The registered Hereford side of the business began in 1968 when Richard Lewis, Kent’s dad, purchased three registered cows from the Jennings Brothers of Halsey, NE. There has been registered cattle under the Boothill prefix continuously since then.

Currently, the operation consists of commercial Angus cows mated with our own Hereford bulls and a small herd of registered cows producing those bulls. Along with a few to sell, as well as some heifers sold as re-placements and show heifers raised for Jackie and Abi.

We hope you are enjoying your time in the Sandhills and welcome you to drop by for a visit anytime. We love to meet new friends and talk Hereford cattle because we think that “every calf deserves a white face.”

The rest of the breeders will be displaying cattle at the Taylor Rodeo Arena in Taylor, NE. From TK Cattle Co., return to Hwy 91 turning right/west onto Hwy 9, go 9 miles to Burwell. Turn Right/west continuing on Hwy 91 to Hwy 183, turn right/north onto hwy 183, go 3 miles to Taylor Rodeo Arena on left/west side of Hwy 183.

45577 Hwy 91., Burwell, NE 68823Greg: 308-214-0568

Brown Herefords is a family farming and ranching operation owned and operated by Greg and Michaela Brown and their children, Brady and Macy. We are located 1 mile south and 2 miles east of Taylor. Though we have a Burwell address, we have deep roots in Taylor and our kids attend school at Loup County High School. Brady is 16 and will be a junior, and Macy is 14 and will be a freshman. Both kids enjoy showing their cattle at local and state shows, and at Jr. Nationals if they can talk Dad into taking them. Our oldest daughter, Shelby, her husband Cole, and children Noah and Aylin ranch and farm near Courtland, KS.

The Brown family has had registered Herefords since 1965 when Greg’s brother, Dick, received an Upstream bred heifer that was purchased by the Loup County FFA Chapter and given to a member to start a herd. Greg, Dick and their father, Keith, purchased registered cows and bred heifers through the years and sold bulls privately and also at state and area con-signment sales. Following Keith’s passing in 1996, Dick sold his cows and Greg and his family continued raising and marketing registered Her-eford bulls. Bulls are still sold privately as well as through the Burwell Livestock Market. Steer calves and replacement quality heifers are also sold at the Burwell Livestock Market in February.

Thank you for attending this year’s tour and we look forward to visiting with you!

Welcome to the Nebraska Hereford Tour. Our cattle will be displayed at the Taylor Rodeo Arena, located 1 mile North of Taylor, NE on Highway 183. On display will be some ET calves by Full Throttle and Catapult, plus a group of replacement heifers that will serve as our judging contest class.

Morgan Ranch is located 18 miles North and West of Burwell in the beau-tiful Sandhillls of Nebraska. Our ranch is all rolling hills and home to over 600 cows.

We run about 100 registered Hereford cows and the rest are commercial pureblood Herefords or Wagyu. Our registered cows have been built up from various ranches. We have been A.I.ing since 1972 and have used some of the top bulls in the country. This has helped us to build a very sound base for our cowherd.

In the last few years, we have started doing more embryo work and are selling show heifers and steers in our online sale which will be held on November 26th this year. We also have about 25 two-year old bulls for sale in April.

Currently we have 4 generations living on Morgan Ranch, which was founded in 1934. Hopefully you can meet and get to know most of the family at the tour stop.

We are pleased to be a host on this year’s Nebraska Hereford Tour and look forward to visiting with you soon.
