    Important Changes for the HFS

    2020- 2021 School Year

    Dear Parents,

I wanted to keep you abreast of some changes we will have for the 2020-2021 school year.

Ms. Kristie Hendricks is moving to Middle School to teach Grammar/Writing, while

    Mr. Preston Fontana teaches Literature

There will be No Spanish in Middle School this year

Ms. Lori Louaillier will now be teaching 2nd grade

Mrs. Karen DuBoulay will remain our CRE but will also be teaching Middle School Religion

Mrs. Jenna Landry will be teaching Religion to students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd

and will also be the HFS Alumni Formation Chair. If you are an HFS alum and wish to be part

of our alumni association, please send your contact information to [email protected]. Mrs.

Landry will be in contact with you soon with additional information.

Welcome to Ms.Valerie Porche, our new 5th grade teacher

Lastly, I wanted to provide some insight about preparations being made so the students can

return to campus in a safe and secure environment. Last week, I, along with my

administrative team and several teachers met with the OLOL COVID Task Force, which

included highly experienced and trained nurses, a pediatrician, and Mr. Mike Miller, Assistant

Superintendent for the Diocese of Baton Rouge Schools. Over a four-hour period, we

discussed classroom sizes, children and the requirement to wear masks, disinfecting and

continuous cleaning of the campus throughout the day, safety precautions to maintain, and

social distancing. The task force visited classrooms and helped us assess what has and what

needs to be done. This was a wonderful partnership with OLOL. We now have a clearer vision

of the plans we will be developing for the upcoming year. More information on that will be

released in the next few weeks.

    Thanks, and God Bless,

    Alise Ashford, M.Ed, NCC

    Principal

  • We would like to give Mr. Marty Leblanc, a very warm

HFS welcome. He has joined our team as our newest

maintenance man. He worked for the Diocese of Baton

Rouge for 10 years and we are so blessed he will be

joining us. Marty lives in Baton Rouge with wife and

three children. He loves to fish and travel as well as

    searching out new restaurants.

Tim e and Talent Projects Now Available

    2019-2020 Time and Talent Hours

If you are in need of Time and Talent hours from last year or if you want to get a jump on your hours for this year,

please contact Mrs. Annette Fitzgerald at [email protected]. For right now, we are looking for any parents

that may be free to come to campus Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.

    1. A current available project for parents to complete Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, will be to

cover new student textbooks with vinyl covers.

    Dear Parents,

We understand that some of you may have been unable to complete your required 12 hours of Time and Talent for

this school year. Mrs. Ashford has several projects that we will be posting, and we will need parents to volunteer for

them prior to our Parent Workdays. This will allow all parents additional opportunities to earn their hours until the

first day of school on August 10th. Our Time and Talent Coordinator, Mrs. Melanie Brown, asked for parents to still

click on the link below in order to post any hours that you have earned thus far. If you have more than the 12 hours

and would like to carry them over to next year, please indicate that as well on the form.

Should you have questions about your hours, please email Melanie Brown at [email protected].

    Welcome, Ms. Valerie Porche

We would like to give Ms. Valerie Porche, a very warm

HFS welcome as well. She’s been teaching for the past

six years and will be a new addition to 5th grade. She is

so excited to become a part of the Holy Family

community. She is a serious dog lover! Her dogs are

spoiled rotten and treated like her babies. She loves to

read mystery novels, and one of her guilty pleasures is

buying school supplies! If you see her around campus,

please give her a warm welcome!

Advisory Board Elections Holy Family Parishioners

    Dear Parents,

We just wanted to send out a reminder about the protocols for Summer Reading campus testing.

The following dates and times have been arranged with Mrs. Celeste Bolotte, HFS Librarian:

    Remaining Summer Reading Testing Dates:

    July 8, 2020 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

    July 22, 2020 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

If you cannot make a testing day during the summer, that is not a problem. We will have procedures set up for the

2020-2021 school year so the students can test when they return to campus.

ONLY students entering 3rd - 8th grades are tested on their summer books.

Please click on the following link and it will open to the Holy Family School website on the Parent/Student

    Portal/Portal Main page.

    https://holyfamilyschool.com/student-portal/portal-main/

Please scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you can click on the grade that your child will be entering

for the 2020-2021 school year for instructions and the books of choice (only 1 book needs to be read).

If you intend to bring your child school to test on one of these summer dates, we ask that the following protocols

    be met:

    1. Parents, please wait in the car

    2. Kids that are coming in to test should have a mask on

    3. There will be a limit of 10 students in the library at a time distanced

    4. Proper sanitation will occur before and after each student enters and exits (tables, computers, chair, etc.)

    Thank you!
