capabilities
Through insights, decision support, and automated tasks
Reduce cost of engineeringand upgrades
• Reduce engineering costs by 50%+
• Reduce upgrade costs by 50%+
• Lower overall system costs
Micro solutions to existinginstalled apps
Tailor specific key use case solutions to continuously deliver
incremental value.
e.g. Incidence management.,AR/VR, remote notification

Historical Causes of Difficult Upgrades
• Unique functionality that modified baseline code
• Lack of Built-in-Quality with comprehensive test suites
• Lack of seperation of custumer configuration and product files
• OASyS components and pipeline applications too tightly coupled
• Manual deployment processes
• Lack of extensibility or extensibility capabilities not used

Superbin Impact to Upgradability
Upgradability, and App Independence – Introduction of “Silos”
• What we really want is a combination of:
1. Software reuse
2. Independence
• Start by giving each application its own
private Infrastructure “bin”
• Each “bin” contains the Infrastructure
version tested with that application
• Opens the door to upgrade each
application independently

Project Configuration and Extensions mixed with Product
• Current Silo model has both Product and Project files mixed in the same subdirectories
• E.g. C:\AVEVA\DNA\RealTime\bin
• This had downsides:
• Challenging to understanding precisely what the project had Configured and Extended,
• Due to the many mixed files
• Project teams had to modify Product files to configure or extend functionality
• Adding cost and risks to upgrades
• Configuration would be overwritten on upgrades
• Even at times with Service Packs or Patches

Legacy “AutoCAD” GraphicsWhat are Legacy “AutoCAD” Graphics? These are the graphic objects shown on the right.
Why were these graphics created? The graphics were used with DMT (Display Management Tool) to create displays when AutoCAD was used as the OASyS SCADA HMI Editor.
What is the state of the Legacy AutoCAD Graphics? These graphics were eventually replaced by ADE and XE. Surveys of our internal teams revealed these graphics are no longer in use by any customer. The one exception is the TextClock which we will continue to support.
How does this affect me?It doesn’t and is provided for informational purposes only to close the chapter on these objects.
