Frog Underground Gate Operator

As its name implies this superb, much copiedgate machine is designed to operate in damp,below ground level conditions. It is indeed the

most popular machine with the discerning customer,who not only wants a long lasting reliable gatemachine, but also does not want to see any type ofarmature attachment on the inside of the gates.

The ‘FROG’ automation system can be fitted to newgateways or most pairs of existing gates that you mayhave. Barker & Geary are able to visit your gatewayto professionally ensure that the ‘FROG’ automationsystem is the best possible solution for yourrequirement.

The underground gate motors can be operated by allthe standard CAME accessories e.g. remote controls,push buttons, keypads etc.

In the eventuality of a power cut the FROG systemhas a key operated manual release mechanism whichis conveniently situated on both the inside andoutside of the gateway.

The ‘FROG’ system is designed to automate eithermetallic or wooden gates and in every case the pivot arm

becomes the bottom hinge for the gate. Once correctly installed,there is no apparent sign of the mechanism other than the lid of the foundation

casing box, and it does not detract from the overall aesthetics of an attractive gateway.

The irreversible geared motor firmly locks the gates,unlike hydraulic machines which generally allowtheir pistons to “relax” and therefore must have anelectric locking system which, with the passage oftime, invariably becomes an extra thing tomalfunction.

The ‘ATI’ motors are extremely strong and able to cope with heavyweight gates. The strength of the ATImotor is achieved by the irreversibly geared worm drive mechanism. All the models can be operated by allthe standard CAME accessories e.g. remote controls, push buttons, keypads etc. In the eventuality of a

power cut the ‘ATI’ machine has a key operated manual release mechanism.

A common application for the ‘ATI’ series would be to operate a traditional five bar wooden gate. A situation inwhich the ‘ATI’ series is very useful, is a pair of closed-in boarded gates in an exposed position, where the forceof the wind will pose no problems to the strength of the ‘ATI’.

Fast Articulated Arm Operator

The FAST articulatedarm gate operator isdesigned to

automate small gates thatare hung from any type ofpillars or posts. The newFAST kits are the easiestand quickest to installwithin the entire CAMErange. The FAST motorcomes complete with an in-built control panel whichmakes the installation assimple as any machineavailable in the world.

The FAST operator will automate most lightweight gates up to 2.3m eachleaf. The FAST can be operated by all the standard CAME accessories e.g.

remote controls, push buttons, keypads etc. In the eventualityof a power cut the FAST has a lever operated manual releasemechanism which is situated on the motor casing. Thesimplicity of operation of a winding arm machine always

ensures the fastest possible operating of the gate.

Sliding Gate Automation Systems

WHENEVER there is limited space in an entrance, anelectric sliding gate which takes up little or no room is theideal solution.

WHENEVER the driveway entrance turns sharply to the right or theleft and a wing type gate would form an obstruction to the turningvehicle, then an electric sliding gate is the ideal solution.

WHENEVERextra security isrequired and thedriveway needs tobe securely closedoff by theelectric gate, thenthe electricsliding gate formsthe ideal solution.

The CAME range of electric sliding gate operatorshas a machine for every size of gate. Residentialgates can be opened with the 'BX' or 'BXE' machinesand commercial gateways with the 'BK' range or the'BY 3500' series. The robust and reliable rack andpinion method of operation is very straightforwardand can be used on metal or wooden gates.

The sophisticated electronic control panel can beprogrammed to accommodate timed auto-closure andpartial opening to allow just pedestrian access andcan accept wired low voltage signalling from thewhole range of CAME accessories.

The installation of an electric sliding gate system is alittle more involved than any other type of electric gate asit has to have more civil engineering done at the initialstage, but once the correct ground track and/or cantileverroller frames are installed, then the installation followsthe same format as with other types of electric gates,continuing with the mechanical engineering stage of gatefabrication and gate mounting, followed by the final stageof electrical fixing and commissioning.

The G8000integrates photoelectriccells and commandselectors in its design, andincorporates an optionalflashing lamp within the overalllook. The control panel is placedaway from the mechanical parts givingeasy intervention whatever thecircumstances. The tubular bar is ideal forreducing the sail effect and an illuminatedlighting strip can be fed down the entirelength. Adjustments include movement andapproach speeds, minimum opening time of 4-5 seconds, connections for pre-opening andpre-closing flashing light and amperometricobstacle detection system in opening andclosing. Available in Zinc Plated coated steeland Stainless steel finishes.

Directives, with the objective of meeting thecriteria of utmost modularity in terms ofapplication and operations. It is available in the230V A.C. motor and the 24V D.C. (protectiongrade IP54) motor versions, the latter beingparticularly ideal for frequent use.

ideal solution for access control of apublic or private street for vehiculartraffic.

The Automatic Rising Bollard sinksinto the ground in less than 3 seconds(adjustable) by means of a remotecontrol device ), thus clearing the wayfor traffic and rises back once thevehicle has passed through.

This system is very easy to use and itsapplications are varied. It enables notonly access control to a privatehousing estate, company grounds orany street, but also gives an answer tourban needs in terms of remote on-linetechnical centralised supervision.

In case of power outage, the bollardgoes down by gravity. As an option,negative security is available, lockingthe bollard upwards even in a poweroutage. This is especially useful forhigh security situations.

Limit switch captors detect the bollard status- up, down or in motion - to activate optionalperipherals such as traffic lights, controllogic etc. An optional internal antifreezeheater is also available enabling the bollardsto be operated in areas of extreme cold.

The 'VER' garagedoor operator is acomprehensive

package of CAMEequipment designed toautomate new or existinghorizontally tracked garage doors, which arethe up and over type of door. It can automatedoors from 1.8 m wide to 6m wide (6' to 18').The principle of the 'VER' is a rigid "C"section steel shaft containing a strongcarrying chain which is connected by a bent“banana” arm to the centre point at the topof the door. This provides a powerful yetsmooth operation to the balanced door.

It has a quiet 24 volt motor with anelectronic control panel and limit switches.The limit switches not only cut off the motorat the top and the bottom, but also deceleratethe door when it reaches its final few inches ofclosure.

It has power sensitivity with an intelligentmethod of sensing an obstruction in the path ofthe door and can also accommodate extra infra-red safety beams if desired.

As well as operatinghorizontally tracked andsectional up and overdoors, we have a versionof the 'VER' that can open

and close outward opening, swing type garagedoors, called the 'VER-Y'. At an additional cost tothe basic 'VER' the 'VER-Y' provides a successfulmethod of opening the traditional type of swing doorto 90 degrees, with an efficient metal rod systemattached to the higher level of both swing doors.

Audio Intercoms

A two-way speech ‘Audible Intercom’gives the added dimension of allowing youto speak to the visitor at your gateway fromthe comfort and security of your home.

When the button at the gateway is pressedthe indoor wall phone makes a buzzingsound. Simply pick up the handset tospeak to the visitor before decidingwhether or not to let them in.

A ‘Leave-openswitch’ can befitted to the wallphone, enablingyou to keep yourgates open frominside your home- a useful featurewhen a numberof guests wouldneed access.

Push Button & Timer

The simplest and often most effective form of gaterelease switch is a weatherproof push button. Twoof these are generally installed, one on the outsidefor entry and one on the inside for exit. These‘DOC P’ weatherproof push buttons are often usedin conjunction with a timeswitch. The times atwhich the gateway can be opened by these buttonsmay be restricted to accommodate regulardeliveries and garbage collection. The timeswitchhas a 72 hour battery back-up in case of a powercut. This method of switching, always ensures thata pair of closed gates will be presented to passers-by, but at the same time allows limited access to“bonafide” visitors and for deliveries.

Digital Keypads

The simple task of pressing a series of numbers intoa metallic keypad situated at the gateway is a secureway to allow authorised friends, family or other“bonafide” visitors to enter through the electricgateway. They will not need to carry any keys orcards and thereby will not run the risk of losingthem. They are tamperproof and have secondarydata information circuit boards which are installedaway from the keypad itself; this means they cannotbe forced open and the wiring short-circuited toopen the gates.

The CAME range of keypads are designed to workin conjunction with CAME control equipment andare finished in an attractive yet hard-wearingstainless steel finish.

Radio Remote Controls

Traditionally, the whole essence of having electricgates is that the passage of the vehicle through thegateway is a pleasurable experience without thedrudge of having to stop both sides of the gatewayand get out of the vehicle twice, to open and closethe gates. Our remote controls are not infra-red orultrasonic, they are radio remote controls,eliminating the need to actually point them at thegates. They are set at the approved UK frequencyof 433Mhz and are “state of the art”.

The remote controls are battery operated and willgenerally last for about a year in normal residentialuse. The range of distance from which the gatescan be opened is normally neverless than 50m ( as long asthe tuned antenna isfitted to maximisethe reception ).

Control Panels

All of CAME electric gateoperating systems need aCAME control panel, not onlyto receive the mainselectricity feed at the gatewaybut also to distribute thewiring to the motors and theparticular switching devicesall around the gateway.

All control panels, including the circuit board, thetransformer and the capacitors, are housed in atough, durable ABS plastic housing, which is weatherrated to the international standard of IP54. This inturn we recommend should be mounted within anexternal housing to give it secondary protectionagainst even the hardest of conditions.

Induction Loop

These devices are often referredto as “pads” in the road, but

nothing could be furtherfrom the truth. They are

in fact, made up of aroughly rectangular shaped

wire loop, laid repeatedly aroundthe rectangle to create a coil and

then a miniature magnetic inductionfield is created above, so that when a

metallic vehicle passes over this magnetic inductionfield, its presence is detected and throws a pulseswitch to open the entrance. They are typicallyused on busy, accessible gateways to allow freedomof vehicle movement; sometimes for exit only, butsometimes loops are laid inside and outside to allowfree entrance and exit. . Once installed, thesensitivity of the induction loops can be set to sensethe types of anticipated vehicular traffic. Inductionroadloops can sometimes be used in a “vehicle stillpresent” mode to act as a safety device, as opposedto a switching device. Induction roadloops are oftenfitted in conjunction with other forms of switching.

Safety Photocells

CAME active infra-red safety beams areinvisible to the naked eye, but can betransmitted from a ‘DOC’ transmitter up to18 metres in outdoor conditions to a ‘DOC’receiver. These represent an excellent formof positive “beam” protection around thegateway and on wing type gates they arenormally installed in two sets, one just infront of the gate line and one just inside thearc-line of travel described by the swingingwing of each gate. In this way, a safetyzone will have been created, so that on theautomatically timed closure of the electric

gates, if a vehicle is still within the area of travel ofthe gates, it will prohibit the gates closing andfurthermore, if a “beam” should be broken after theautomatic closing has begun, it will re-open andhold the gateway open until the obstruction is clear.

Other Accessories

Electric Lock

There are occasions when it is wise toinstall an electric latch to remove thepossibility of damage to a long flexiblegate, or to remove the stress and strainscaused by pounding winds on closedboarded or similar types of “closed-in” gates. The electric latch has themechanical capability to bereleased automatically by thecontrol panel or by a key in theevent of a power cut.

Other Accessories


The installation of electric gates is like any other project that involves practical work and must be carried outefficiently. The work involved must be undertaken in the correct stages with the necessary interim gap between,to allow for the natural "hardening-off" period of the concrete. Also in this period the actual "in-factory"fabrication work can take place. As a general rule, the sooner the first stage can take place the better. This thenallows for the "hardening-off "period to be longer so ensuring the end result will be stronger. The work cannormally all be completed within two days at stage one, then a gap of about ten days and then another consecutivethree days at stages two and three. Barker & Geary Ltd. concentrate on the aim of carrying out our work swiftlyand efficiently with a minimum of fuss, mess or bother so that the end result will go on to give many, many yearsof satisfactory service.

Our operatives are all fullytrained by CAME and fully certified. The installation and components are covered by a statuary 12 monthwarranty period and we highly recommended that you consider taking up our proposed service scheme.

Service Scheme for Automated Gates

We will visit you property once during the 12 moth service period. We will check all electrical / mechanicalconnections and components including gate alignment and motor adjustments. Grease all hinges and pivotpoints, repair or replace any faulty components and remove any debris or plant growth from driveway thatinterferes with the automated gates as necessary. Contract includes cost of any labour and consumables usedfor the service (excludes cost of parts not under warranty)

Customers who sign up for our service contract scheme are also entitle to 10% discount on breakdown call outfees, hourly charges and replacement parts.
