B.C. & A.D.
B.C. which stands for "Before Christ" ◦ It is used for dates before year 0
(Remember, there is actually not a year zero, it is just a point of reference)
A.D. is the abbreviation for the Latin phrase anno Domini, which means "in the year of our Lord,"
It is used for dates after the birth of Jesus.
B.C.E & C.E
Today, however, with a growing understanding that not all archaeologists are Christians, some archaeologists prefer to use the terms:
B.C.E - Before the Common Era◦ It replaces BC
C.E. - Common Era ◦ It replaces AD
