Key Points

AllMeds = Template Driven System

Utilized their own server, was HIPPA Compliant (used local IT Co)

An extensive and phased training approach took place one month prior to implementation (parts of staff, followed by full staff meetings)

Charts› Multiple people in one chart at the same time – Aids in

personnel workflow

Practice DID NOT ratchet down visit schedule

Lessons Learned Training - Backfill & Shift Coverage should be considered

Limit amount of patients by one half during EHR Implementation for up to three weeks – (The practice later regretted not doing this)

Best Practices Utilize an IT company that knows what they are doing – this

practice utilized their own server (saves $$)

Choose and EHR that encompasses billing

Visit sites already using the product you are interested in or have already purchase (no brainer)

› Ask these practices for advice or their lessons learned

Fully utilize your EHR› Will save more money

SMOS saved over $100,000 in transcription and personnel per year.

EHR paid for itself in 30 months, the practice broke even at 20 months!
