1. Introduction
Your Cars (MotorXtender cover)sectionexplainsthetypesofbenefitsthatareavailabletoyou.
Wecover therepairsor replacementofcertainpartsofyourcar,becauseofapart’s suddenandunforeseenfailure.Onlythepartslistedinthissectionarecovereduptothelimitsperbenefitassetoutinthepolicyschedule.Youmustreadthissectiontogetherwiththegeneraltermsandconditionsandyourpolicyschedule.
This extended warranty policy is not meant to be a maintenance or service plan.
2. DefinitionsthatapplytoyourCars(MotorXtendercover)section
Wherewereferto“you”intheCars (MotorXtender cover)section,italsomeansanyonewhodrivesyourcarwithyourpermission.ThefollowingdefinitionsareusedintheCars (MotorXtender cover)sectionofthispolicy.
Car A passenger car, 4x4, SUV (sports utility vehicle), bakkie,mini-bus, light deliveryvehicle,panelvanandmotorisedcaravanwithagrossvehiclemassnotexceeding3500kg.Thespecificcarthatwecoverissetoutinthepolicyschedule.
Regular driver Thepersonwhodrives,orisincontrolorpossessionofyourcarmostofthetime.Thenameoftheregulardriverissetoutinthepolicyschedule.
Failure or failed A parthasfailedifallofthebelowaretrue:
− A part’s sudden and unforeseen failure, burn-out or breakage is caused bymechanicalorelectricalreasons;
− Thefailurecausestheparttostopfunctioningcorrectly;and
− Thepartneedstoberepairedorreplacedtofunctioncorrectly.
Part A partmeansasinglecar part,oracollectionofcar partsaslistedintheMain cover. Partsarealsoknownascomponents.
Wear and tear Wear and tearisthenaturalandunavoidabledamagecausedbyagingorthenormaluseofapart.
For example: Whenyourcar’sclutchhasbecomewornovertimeandstartstoslipafteryouchangegears,butyourcarcanstillbedriven.Orthegraduallossofenginecompressionthatneedstherepairorreplacementofvalvesorrings.
Excess Thefirstamountyoumustpaytowardsaclaimunderthispolicy.Yourexcess amount willbethetotalofthefollowingexcessesassetoutinthepolicyschedule:
− basicexcessistheamountthatyouchose.
− additionalexcessisanextraamountontopofyourbasicexcess.
Full service history A full service history meansthatallyourcar’sserviceswerecarriedoutnolaterthan30daysor1500kmaftertheservicewasdue,whichevercamefirst.
Aserviceisdueattheintervalssetoutinyourcar’sservicebooklet,orwhenshownbytheon-boardserviceindicatorsinyourcar.
Major service report Theinvoiceandjobcardwhichmustincludethefollowinginformation:
− Descriptionofyourcar.
− Mileageofyourcar.
− Detailsofanyfaultsthatwererepairedandnotrepaired.

3. Conditionsforcover
a. Your carmustberegisteredintermsofcurrentSouthAfricanlegislation.
b. You,oranyotherpersondrivingyourcarmustbeinpossessionofavalidSouthAfricandriver’slicence,oravaliddriver’slicencethatcomplieswithSouthAfricanlegislation.Thisincludesapersonwithavalidlearner’slicence,butonlywhileaccompaniedbyapersonwithavaliddriver’slicence.
c. Your carmaynotbecoveredunderanotherinsurancepolicythathasfailurecoverorservicecoversimilartothispolicy.Yourcarmayalsonotbewithinthecoverperiodofthemanufacturer’swarranty,serviceplanormaintenanceplan.Ifitis,wemaycancelyourcoverfromthecover start date andpaybackallpremiums, lesstheamountofanyclaimswemayhavepaid.
d. Your carmusthaveafull service history throughouttheperiod of insurance.
e. WeonlycoverrepairsandservicingofyourcaratworkshopswithinthebordersofSouthAfrica.Ifyourcar breaksdownorneedsservicingwhileitisoutsidethebordersofSouthAfrica,youmustbringyourcarbacktoSouthAfricaatyourowncostbeforewewillconsidertheclaim.
f. YoumaynotclaimforanybenefitsinyourCars (MotorXtender cover)sectionduringthefirst30daysafterthecover start date.
4. Wemayaskyoutotakeyourcarforamajorserviceorinspection
4.1 At the cover start date
Ifyourcardoesnothaveafull service history atthecover start date,wemayaskyoutohaveyourcar inspected,ortotakeitforamajorservicebeforewewillcoveryourcar.Weusetheinspectionreportor major service report toassesswhetherwecancoveryourcarfortheMain cover,dependingontheinformationinthereport.
a. WewillcancelyourCars (MotorXtender cover)sectionwitheffectfromthecover start date,if:
− Wedonotreceivetheinspectionreportorthemajor service report withinthetimewegaveyou;or
− Wereceivetheinspectionreportorthemajor service report,andwedecidethatwecannotcoveryourcarbecauseofitscondition.
b. Thismeansthatyourcarwasnevercoveredandwewillpaybackallthepremiumsreceivedfromthecover start date.
4.2 Atanytimeduringtheperiodofinsurance
Wemayaskyoutohaveyourcarinspected,ortotakeitforamajorserviceatanytimeduringtheperiod of insurance.Weusetheinspectionreportormajor service report toassesswhetherwecancontinuetocoveryourcarfortheMain cover,dependingontheinformationinthereport.
a. WewillcancelyourCars (MotorXtender cover)sectionwitheffectfromtheendoftheperiodthatwegaveyoutohaveyourcarinspectedorserviced,if:
− Wedonotreceivetheinspectionreportorthemajor service report withinthetimewegaveyou;or
− Wereceivetheinspectionreportorthemajor service report,andwedecidethatwecannotcoveryourcarbecauseofitscondition.
b. Wewillonlypaybackthepremiumswereceivedforthetimethatwedidnotcoveryourcar.

5. Yourspecificresponsibilities
InadditiontoyourresponsibilitiessetoutintheYourresponsibilitiessection,youhaveextraresponsibilitiesthatspecificallyapplytoyourCars (MotorXtender cover) section.
5.1 You must maintain your carandpreventdamage
Youmustlookafteryourcarandtakeallreasonablestepstopreventdamage.
a. YoumustmaintainyourcaraccordingtotheroadworthyrequirementsoftheapplicableNationalRoadTrafficAct.
b. Youmusthaveyourcarfixedifanythingisbroken.
c. Youmustnottakeanyintentionalrisks,ormakeanychangestoyourcar,thatmightcauseafailure.
d. Youmusthaveyourcarservicednolaterthan30daysor1500kmaftertheservicewasdue,whichevercomesfirst.Inaddition,youmusthaveyourcarservicednosoonerthan30daysor1500kmbeforetheservicewasdue,whichevercomesfirst.Yourcar’sserviceisdueattheintervalssetoutinyourcar’sservicebooklet,orwhenshownbytheon-boardserviceindicatorsinyourcar.
For example: Your car’sserviceisdueon15Marchoron60000km(whichevercomesfirst)asperyourmanufacturer’sspecifications.Youmusthaveyourcarservicednosoonerthan15Februaryor58500kmandnolaterthan15Aprilor61500km,whichevercomesfirstineachcase.
− Youmustkeepproofofallyourcar’sservices,andyoumustgiveuscopieswhenyouclaimfortheMain cover.Ifyoudon’twewillnotconsideryourclaim.
− Pleasemakesurethattheservicehistorypagesinyourcar’sservicebookletarecompletedandstampedbytheworkshop,andthatanyelectronicserviceindicatorshavebeenreset.
e. Youmustprotectyourcarfromfurtherdamage.Thismeansthatyoumaynotcontinuetodriveyourcarafteryoubecomeawareofapotentialproblem.
For example: Ifyourcaroverheatsandyoucontinuetodriveit,itmaycausemoredamagethanifyouhadstoppeddrivingimmediatelyafteryounoticedtheoverheatingwarninglight.
5.2 You must tell us what you use your carfor
Youmust telluswhatyoumainlyuseyourcar for,as setoutbelow.Wewill set thisout in thepolicyschedule.
a. Personal use: Youuseyourcarforprivate,domesticandpleasurepurposes.Thisincludestravellingtoandfromyourplaceofwork,butexcludesbusinessuseasexplainedbelow.
b. Business use: You use your car for personal use as explained above, and on a regular basis forprofessionalorbusinesstravelling.
5.3 Youmusttellusofanymaterialchanges
Youmusttellusofanychangesthatarematerialtotheriskofyourcarwithin14daysfromthedatethatithaschanged,forexample:
− theuseofyourcar;
− theregular driver ofyourcar;or
− theaddresswhereyouparkyourcar.
5.4 Youmusttellusifyourcarwasrebuiltormodified
a. Youmusttellusimmediatelyifyourcarwasmodifiedfromthemanufacturer’sspecifications,forexample:
− changestoenginecapacity;
− enhancingyourcar’sperformance;or
− changestothesuspension.

b. Wedonotcoverrebuiltormodifiedcars.WewillcancelyourCars (MotorXtender cover)sectionwitheffectfromthedatethatyourcarwasrebuiltormodified.
5.5 Youmustcheckyourenginenumber
a. Youmustmakesureyourcarregistrationpapersarecorrectandthatthecorrectenginenumberisregisteredtoyourcar.
b. Ifyoureplaceyourcar’sengine,youmustmakesurethatyourcar’snewenginehaspoliceclearance,andthatyouregisteritaccordingtotheapplicableNationalRoadTrafficAct.Youmusttellusofthenewenginenumber.
6. Main cover
6.1 Whatwecoveryoufor(insured events)
Theonly insured event wecover is the failure of a part listed inthetablebelow.Wedonotcoveranyroutinemaintenance.Wewillpayuptothelimitperbenefitsetoutinthepolicyschedule,fortherepairorreplacementofapartthathasfailed.Youmayclaimforthepart,aswellasthelabourtohavethepart fittedorrepaired.Youmaynotclaimforonlythelabour,orforonlythecostofthepart.
a. How the limit works
− Thelimitappliesperaninsured event.
− Thelimitappliestothetotalofallthepartslistednexttoeachbenefit,includingthecostoflabourtohavethepartsfitted.
− Thelimitdoesnotapplytoeachlistedpartindividually.
b. How the table works
− Thetablelistsallthepartsthatarecoveredperbenefit,aswellasanyspecificpartsoreventsthatarenotcoveredperbenefit.
− Anypartthatisnotlistedinthetableisnotcovered.
Benefit Partscoveredperbenefit
Engine Wecoveralltheinternallylubricatedpartsofcombustionengines.Forexample:
− oilpump,crankshaft,bigendandmainbearings,con-rods,gudgeonpins,pistonsandrings;
− valves,valveguidesandsprings;
− rockers,pushrods,camshaftsandcamfollowers;and
− timinggears,timingchainandtimingchaintensioner.
Wealsocovertheelectricdrivemotorsofhybridandelectriccars.
Wedonotcover:
− decarbonisation.Thismeanstoremovecarbonfromthepistoncrownandthecombustionchamberroof;
− failurescausedbybuild-upofcarbon;and
− thebatteries,chargingdevicesoranyotherrelatedsystemsofhybridandelectriccars.
Note:Iftheenginehasoverheatedorthecam-belthasfailed,thenwewillcoveritundertheOverheatingbenefitortheCam-beltfailurebenefit.
Manualgearbox Wecoveralltheinternallylubricatedparts.Forexample:gears,shafts,synchro-meshhubsandrings,selectors,bearings,bushesandgearleverlinkages.

Benefit Partscoveredperbenefit
Automaticgearbox We cover all the internally lubricated parts. For example: torque convertor,gears, shafts, clutchpacksandbrakebands, servosandgovernor,valvebody,shafts,gearleverselectorswitch,bearingsandbushes,gearleverandlinkages.
Transfercase Wecoverallinternalpartsofthetransfercase,includingtheactuationmotor.
TransaxleorFrontwheeldriveunit
We cover all the internally lubricated parts. For example: gears, shafts,synchromeshhubsandrings,selectors,bearings,bushesandgearleverlinkages,crownwheelandpinion,carrier,spidergearsandbearings.
Differential We cover all the internalparts of thedifferential. For example: crownwheelandpinion,carrier,spidergears,differentiallocks,axlehalf-shafts,rearhubsandbearings.
Managementsystem Wecoverthegearboxcontrolunitandtheenginecontrolunit(ECU)only.
Steeringmechanism Wecoverthecolumnshaft,bearingsand joints, internalpartsofthesteeringbox,steeringrackandpinion,rackendsandtierodends,andthesteeringpump.
Brakingsystem Wecoverthemastercylinder,servounit,wheelcylinders,vacuumpump,ABScontrolunitandallsensors.
Wedonotcoveranyfrictionmaterialsorsurfaces.
Electricalparts Wecoverthealternator,startermotorandwindscreenwipermotors.
Wedonotcoverbatteries,switchesandrelays.Wealsodonotcoverthechargingdevicesoranyotherrelatedsystemofhybridandelectriccars.
Coolingsystem We cover the water pump, oil cooler, thermostat and viscous cooling fanassembly,electricfanmotor,butwedonotcoverthefanblades.
Wecover the radiatorandexpansionbottle,butwedonot cover theheatermatrixandhosing.
Turboorsuperchargers
Wecoverthefollowingpartsoftheoriginalfactory-fittedturboorsuperchargersonly: impellers, shafts, bushes, seals, waste gates, bearings, intercoolers andcasings.
Wheelbearings Wecoverallthewheelbearings.
Fuelsystem Wecoverthemechanicalandelectricalfuelpumps,airflowmeter,idlecontrolvalveormotor,throttlebody,sensorunitsandinjectors.
Wedonotcoveranycalibrationorserviceableparts.
Electronicignition Wecoverthedistributor,coilpacksandallsolidstatecontrolandtriggeredunits.
Wedonotcovertheignitionswitch,barrelorkey.
Driveshafts Wecoverhalfshafts,sideshafts,CVjoints,propshafts,CVbootsandthecentrebearing.
Airconditioner Wecovertheairconditionercompressoronly.
Wedonotcoverre-gassingoftheairconditioner.
Clutch Wecovertheclutchplate,clutchfork,pressureplate,slavecylinderandreleasebearing.
Flywheel Wecoverthesolidanddualmassflywheels.
Sensorsandsenderunits
We cover only the sensors and sender units of the engine, gearbox anddifferentials.Forexample:Lambdasensors,pressuresensorsandknocksensors.
Pulleys Wecoverthecrankshaft,damper,idlerandtensionerpulleys.

Overheating Wecoveranyoverheating-relatedevents.Forexample:warpedcylinderheads,crackedcylinderheads,collapsedpistonsorpistonrings,andthefailureofthecylinderheadgaskets.
Note:WedonotcoveroverheatingaspartoftheEnginebenefit.
Cam-beltfailure Wecoverthecam-belt,cam-belttensionerpulleyandsprings,cam-beltbearingsandcam-beltcover.
We do not cover routine cam-belt replacements, because this forms part oftakingcareofyourcar.
Note:Wedonotcovercam-beltfailureaspartoftheEnginebenefit.
7. Wearandtearconditions
WedonotnormallycoverthereplacementorrepairofapartlistedintheMain cover because of wear and tear. However,incertaincircumstanceswewillconsiderreplacingorrepairingapartbecauseofreasonablewear and tear.Thefollowingconditionsapply:
a. Wewillnotconsideranyclaimsforwear and tear duringthefirstsixmonthsafterthecover start date.
b. After this time,wemay consider claims for reasonablewear and tear of a part based on the specificcircumstancesoftheclaim.
c. Wewilldecideifthereasonforthepart’srepairorreplacementisinfactbecauseofwear and tear, and alsowhetherthatpartactuallyneedstoberepairedorreplaced.
d. Ifwedecidetopayaclaim,wewillpaythecostoftherepairorreplacementofthepart,uptoamaximumof50%ofthelimitperbenefit,assetoutinthepolicyschedule.
What is wear and tear?
Wear and tearisthenaturalandunavoidabledamagecausedbyagingorthenormaluseofapart.
For example: Whenyourcar’sclutchhasbecomewornovertimeandstartstoslipafteryouchangegears,butyourcarcanstillbedriven.Orthegraduallossofenginecompressionthatneedstherepairorreplacementofvalvesorrings.
8. Additionalbenefits
WewillautomaticallycoveryoufortheCoverXtenderbenefit.
8.1 CoverXtenderbenefit
a. TheCoverXtenderbenefitpaysoutanextraamountontopoftheMain cover limits,if:
− youclaimforanyofthebenefitslistedintheMain cover;and
− theclaimamountismorethanthelimitforthatspecificbenefit.
b. YoucandecideifyouwanttouseyourCoverXtenderbenefit.
− PleasereadyourpolicyscheduletoseehowmuchyourCoverXtenderbenefitis,andhowmanytimesyoucanuseitinevery12monthperiod.
− Ifyouuseit,wewillreduceyourCoverXtenderbenefitbytheamountthatyouused,fortheremainderofthe12monthperiod.
− Anyunusedamountdoesnotcarryovertothenext12monthperiod.

For example:
Tumiisinhersecondyearofcoverandshecanuseher CoverXtenderbenefittwiceinthatyear,uptoatotalofR4000.Thecosttorepairhercar’sairconditionerisR4500,butherlimitfortheairconditionerbenefitisonlyR3000.ThismeansshehastopaythedifferenceofR1500,aswellaspayherexcess.
− ShecannowchoosetouseherCoverXtenderbenefittopayforthedifferenceofR1500,butshecannotuseittopayforherexcess.
− IfsheusesherCoverXtenderbenefit,shewillstillhaveR2500(R4000lessR1500)lefttouseifshehasanotherclaiminthat12monthperiod.
− Ifshehasasecondclaiminthat12monthperiod,shecanusetheremainingR2500.
− Ifshehasathirdclaiminthat12monthperiod,shecannotuseherCoverXtenderbenefitagainuntilthenext12months,evenifthereisstillabalanceremaining.
− Ifshedoesn’thaveanotherclaiminthat12monthperiod,theR2500balancefallsaway.
− Atthestartofthenext12monthsshewillagainhaveR4000touse.
9. Optionalbenefits
Thesearenotautomaticbenefits.Youmustchoosetobecoveredforthesebenefitsandpaytheextrapremium.
− Ifyouchoosetobecoveredforanoptionalbenefit,wewillshowyourchoiceonthepolicyschedule.
− Ifyouchoseanyofthefollowingoptionalbenefits,theexplanationofyourcoverisincludedtowardstheendoftheCarssectionofyourpolicy.
− Scratch and dent cover
− Tyre cover
9.1 ServiceXtender
a. Wewillcoverthecostofservicingyourcaruptothelimitsetoutonyourpolicyschedule.
b. Wewillpaythecostofparts,labour,consumablesandanysundrychargesforthefollowing:
− Changingofoil,oilfiltersandsumppluggaskets
− Replacingairfiltersandfuelfilters
− Replacingsparkplugs
− Replacingbrakefluid
− Replacinglonglifecoolant
− Washingyourcar
c. Wewillnotpayforanypartsthatneedreplacingbecauseofwear and tear,forexample:
− Tyresandwheelalignment.
− Windscreen,glassandwiperblades.
− Wiperblades.
− Brakepads,brakeshoes,brakedrumsandfrictiondiscs.
− Cables,globesandfuses.
d. Wewillnotpayforservicesthataredoneoutsideofthemanufacturer’sserviceintervalspecifications,atanunapprovedworkshoporwithoutourpermission.
e. Youmust have your car serviced no later than 30 days or 1 500km after the service was due,whichever comes first. In addition, youmust have your car serviced no sooner than 30 days or1500kmbeforetheservicewasdue,whichevercomesfirst.Wewillnotpayaclaimforaserviceoutsideofthisperiod.Yourcar’sserviceisdueattheintervalssetoutinyourcar’sservicebooklet,orwhenshownbytheon-boardserviceindicatorsinyourcar.

9.2 MotorXtender – Car hire
a. Whenwewillgiveyouarentalcar
Wewillgiveyouarentalcarifyouneedit,butonlyafterwehaveacceptedaMain cover claim.Youmaydrivetherentalcarfortheshorterofthebelowperiods:
− thenumberofdaysyouchoseassetoutinthepolicyschedule;or
− untilyourcarisrepaired.
b. Thecarhirebenefitincludesthefollowing:
− Acarthatislistedinthecarhiregroupthatyouchose,assetoutinthepolicyschedule.
− Unlimitedkilometres.
− Airportsurchargeforrentalsfromanairport.
− Tourismlevy.
− Deliveryorcollectionsupto25kilometresfromthenearestcarhirecompanycontractedbyus.
c. Youareresponsibleforthefollowing:
− Allfueldeposits,fuelandrunningcosts,includingtollfees.
− Theinsuranceexcesschargedbythecarhirecompanyforlossordamagetotherentalcar.
− Trafficorspeedingfineswhiletherentalcarisinyourcustodyandcontrol,untilitisreturned.
− Deliveryorcollectionchargesfordistanceslongerthan25kilometresfromthenearestcarhirecompanycontractedbyus.
− Costsaftertherentalcarhasbeeninyourcustodyandcontrolforlongerthantheallowedperiodsetoutabove.
d. Specialconditions
− Youmustsignalldocumentationrequiredbythecarhirecompany.
− Onlythepersonthatreceivedpermissionfromthecarhirecompanymaydrivetherentalcar. Thatpersonmustbeinthepossessionofavaliddriver’slicence.
− Wewill not pay the cost of the car hire if youdonot keep to the terms, conditions andinsurancerequirementsofthecarhirecompany.
− You cannot choose the Car hire benefit if you have chosen the Alternative transportallowance optionalbenefit.
9.3 MotorXtender–Alternativetransportallowance
Wewillpayyouanalternativetransportallowancetohelpyouwithtransportwhileyouarewithoutyourcar.Wewillpaytheamountsetoutinthepolicyschedule,butonlyafterwehaveacceptedaMain cover claim.YoucannotchoosethisbenefitifyouhavechosentheCar hire optionalbenefit.
10. Specificexclusions–whatwedonotcover

10.1 WedonotcoveranypartsthatarenotlistedintheMain cover.
10.2 Wedonotcovercarsthathavebeenused:
− Inconnectionwithanyperformancetests,orcardemonstrationpurposes.
− Inanymotorsportingactivity,orwhileitisbeingtestedforanymotorsportingactivity.
− Onamotorsportingcircuitortrackofanykind.

− Forcommercialtravellingorasatooloftrade,forexample:
• usingyourcarasacourierordeliverycar;
• rentingoutyourcarforusebyothers;
• usingyourcartocarrypassengersforreward,suchasataxiorlimousine(excludingliftclubs);
• usingyourcartocarryoutyourtrade,suchasplumbers,electricians,builders,gardenservices,farmers,etc.
10.3 Wedonotcoverfailure of a partcausedby,orrelatedto,anyofthefollowingreasons:
a. Usingthewrongfuelorthewronggradeoffuel.
b. Abusingyourcarordrivingitinanegligentway.Forexample:
− Over-revvingyourcar.
− Overloadingyourcar.Thismeanscarryingortowingaloadthatisgreaterthanwhatyourcar wasdesignedorlicensedfor.
− Usingyourcarunderconditionsnotsuitabletothecartype,likedrivingasedanonanoff-roadtrack.
10.4 Wedonotcoveranyfailure of a partthatwascausedbecauseyoucontinuedtodriveyourcarafteryoubecomeawareofapotentialproblem.
10.5 Wedonotcoverthefailure of a partwhichiscausedby,orresultedfrom,anyofthefollowing:
a. Ratsorvermin.
b. Fireorwaterdamageofanykind.
c. Foreignmatterinthefuel,engine,gearboxandcoolingsystems.Forexample:Dirtintheradiatorcausingthewaterpumptofail.
d. Incorrectorincompleterepairs,andfaultyworkmanship.
e. Detonationorpre-ignitionforanyreason.Forexample:Incorrectfuelpressureorignitiontiming.
10.6 Wewillnotpayclaimsforthefollowing:
a. Repairsofoilleaksofanynature.
b. Repairsifyourcarisstillundertheguaranteeissuedbytheworkshopthatdidthepreviousrepairs.Youmustreturnyourcartotheworkshopthatgaveyoutheguarantee.
c. Repairsthatwouldnormallybecoveredbyacomprehensivecarinsurancepolicy,evenifyourcarisnotinsured.Forexample:Repairsneededafteranaccidentorcollision.
d. Repairsthatarenotdoneatanapprovedworkshop.
e. Repairsthataredonewithoutourpermission.
f. Repairorreplacementofpartsneededbecausethecarmanufacturerrecallsyourcaroranypart of yourcar.
g. Repairswherethedamage,orthecauseofthefailure,existedbeforethecover start date.
h. Repairsthatareneededbecauseofthedefectivedesignofapart.
i. Repairswhereweareunabletoconfirmtheactualmileageofyourcaratthetimeofaclaim.
j. Repairswhereyourcar’sodometerisnotconnected,notinworkingorderorhasbeentamperedwith.
10.7 Wedonotcoverwear and tear to parts listed intheMain cover,unlessweconsiderwear and tear asexplainedundertheheadingWearandtearconditions.
10.8 Wedonotcoverconsequentialloss.Thisisanyfurtherlossthatyoumaysufferasaconsequenceofyourcar’sbreakdown.
Forexample:Ifyourcarbreaksdownonthewaytotheairport,wewillcoveryouforthefailure of parts listedintheMaincover,butwewillnotpayforanylossyoumaysufferbecauseyoumissedyourflight.

10.9 Wedonotcoveranyresultantdamage.Thisisfailure of a partthatiscausedbyfaultyworkmanship,orbythefailureofanyotherpart,includingthosenotlistedintheMain cover.
Forexample: If theautomaticgearbox isdamagedbecausetheoilcooler failedandwaterenteredthegearbox,thedamagetothegearboxistheresultantdamagethatwedonotcover.However,wewouldcovertheoilcooler.
11. Specificconditionswhenyouclaim
TheconditionssetoutinthesectionClaimingunderthispolicydonotapplytothebenefitspayableunderyourCars (MotorXtender cover) section.
Beforeyouclaim!
− If a parthasfailed,firstcheckthatthepartislistedintheMain cover.
− Donothaveyourcarrepairedorserviceduntilyouhavereceivedourwrittenpermission.
− Makesurethattheworkshophasbeenapprovedbyus.Checkthe listofapprovedworkshopsonourwebsitewww.hollard.co.za,orcallusonourHelplinenumbersetoutintheQuickreferenceguide.
11.1 Roadsideemergencyassistance
Please read the Roadside emergency assistance conditions in the Emergency and assist services sectiontounderstandtheroadsideassistanceavailabletoyou.IfyourcariscoveredunderonlytheCars (MotorXtender cover)section,pleasenotethattowingisonlyavailableifyourcarbreaksdown,andnotinthecaseofanaccident.
11.2 How to claim
a. Main cover claims:Youmusttellusofaclaimassoonaspossible,butnotlaterthanfivedaysfromthedateofthefailure.Wewilltellyouwhattodoandwheretotakeyourcar.Afteryourcarhasbeenassessedbyourworkshoporourassessor,wewillneedthefollowinginformation:
− Adescriptionofthefailure.
− Themileageofyourcaratthetimeofthefailure.
− Theaddresswhereyourcarcanbeinspected.
− Copiesofyourcar’s full service history.
− Areportfromtheworkshopexplainingwhytherepairsareneeded.
− Acopyofthequotefortherepairs.
b. ServiceXtenderbenefitclaims:Youmustcallusbeforeyoutakeyourcarforaservice.Wewilltellyouwhattodoandwheretotakeyourcar.Afteryourcarhasbeenserviced,wewillneedaninvoicefromtheworkshopshowingthefollowinginformation:
− Yourpolicynumberorclaimnumber.
− Make,modelandregistrationnumberofyourcar.
− Mileageofyourcaratthetimeoftheservice.
− Detailedinformationoftheservicethatwasdone.
c. Youmustgetourwrittenpermissionbeforerepairingorservicingyourcar.
d. You must use an approved workshop.Wemayaskyoutotakeyourcartoanapprovedworkshopifyourworkshopisnotapprovedbyus.
e. Ifthestepsabovearenotfollowed,oryoudonotsendustheinformationweaskforwithinthetimewegaveyou,wewillrejectyourclaim.

Costsbeforeweacceptaclaim
− Sometimestheworkshopneedstodosomeworkbeforetheycanfindthecauseofthefailure and quoteonthecostoftherepairs.Forexample:Iftheyneedtostriptheenginetogettothepartthathasfailed.
− Wecannotpromisethatwewillpaythesecosts,becausewecannotpromisethatwewillacceptaclaimbeforeweknowexactlywhathasfailedandwhy.
− Thismeansthatifyourclaimisrejectedbecausethecauseofthefailureisnotcoveredunderthispolicy,youmayhavetopaytheworkshopfortheworkdone.
− Becauseofthis,theworkshopneedsyourpermissionbeforetheywillcontinuewithstrippingtheengine,oranypart.
11.3 How we assess your claim
a. Wewillcalculatethecostofrepairsortheservice,basedonthereportfromtheworkshop.
b. Wemayalsoappointanassessortoinspectyourcar.
11.4 How much we will pay
a. Main cover
− Ifweacceptaclaim,wemayatourdiscretionrepairorreplacethefailed parts.
− Wewillpaythecostof therepairsor replacementuptoamaximumof the limit for thatspecificbenefit,lesstheexcess amount.
b. ServiceXtenderbenefit
− Wewillpaythecostoftheserviceuptoamaximumofthelimit,lesstheexcess amount.
11.5 Who we will pay
Assoonaswehavereceivedallthedocumentsandyourcarhasbeenrepairedorserviced,wewillpaytheworkshopdirectly.
11.6 What you must pay
a. The excess
Thisisthefirstamountthatyoumustpaytowardsaclaimunderthispolicy.Wewillalwaysdeducttheexcessfromtheamountwepaytotheworkshop.Thismeansthatyouhavetopaytheexcess directlytotheworkshop.
− Your excessamountwillbethetotalofyourbasicexcessandadditionalexcess,assetoutinthepolicyschedule:
• Thebasicexcessistheamountthatyouchose.
• Anadditionalexcessisanextraamountontopofyourbasicexcess.Ifanadditionalexcessappliestoyou,wewillshowitinyourpolicyschedule.
For example: YouwillhavetopayanadditionalexcessifyouclaimforaMain coverbenefitduringthefirstsixmonthsafterthecover start date.
− Ifmorethanoneadditionalexcessappliestoyourclaim,wewillonlyaddthehighestexcessamounttothebasicexcess.
For example: Yourbasicexcess isR1000.Twoadditionalexcess amountsofR2000andR4000alsoapplytoyou. Ifyouclaim,youwillonlyhavetopayatotalexcess of R5 000 (R1000plusR4000)andnotR7000(R1000+R2000+R4000).

b. Othercostsyouareresponsiblefor
− If youdid not ask us to arrange for towing, youmust pay all towing costs to the towingoperatordirectly.
− Ifyourengine,oranypart,wasstrippedtoinvestigatethecauseofthefailureandyourclaimisrejected,youmayhavetopaytheworkshopfortheworkdone.
11.7 Ourresponsibilityendsafterwehavepaidaclaim
Oncewehavepaidaclaim,wehavemetourresponsibilitiestoyouintermsofthispolicy.Wewillnotberesponsibleforanyothercostsrelatingtothatclaim.
11.8 We will not pay any interest
Anyamountduebyuswillnotattractanyinterest.
11.9 Ifyoudonotagreewithourclaimsdecision
a. Complain to Hollard
Ifwedonotacceptaclaimorifyoudon’tagreewiththeamountoftheclaim,youmayaskustoreviewourdecisionwithin90daysofthedatethatyoureceivedournotice.
b. Complain to the Ombudsman
YoumayalsosendyourcomplainttotheOmbudsmanforShort-termInsuranceatanytime.PleasecontacttheOmbudsmanonthecontactdetailssetoutintheQuickreferenceguide.
c. Takelegalaction
Youmaytakelegalactionagainstuswithin270daysofthedatethatyoureceivedournotice.Totakelegalaction,summonsmustbeservedonus.Ifthisisnotdoneintime,youwillloseyourrighttoclaimandwewillnolongerberesponsibleforthatclaim.
YoumayalsochoosetotakelegalactionagainstuswithoutfirstaskingustoreviewourclaimdecisionorcontactingtheOmbudsmanforShort-termInsurance.IfyoutakelegalactionagainstusbeforecontactingtheOmbudsman,youcanonlyapproachtheOmbudsmanforassistanceafteryouhavewithdrawnthesummonsagainstus.
