ln reference with DepEd Memorandum No. 030, s. 2018, this office through thecurriculum and lnstruction Division will conduct the 2018 ASEAN Division Quiz onMarch 'nt2a18 at Gabaldon Hall, cabuyao central school from 1:00 - 5:00 pM.

Participants to this activity are students from private and public schools from GradeI - 10, ages fifteen (15) - seventeen (17) yearc old and must not be eighteen (1S)years old by the time of the Regional Competition which will be held in March 23,2018 at Tanza National Comprehensive High, Tanza Cavite.

Relative to this, a meeting of planning and technical working committee is set onMarch 9, 2018 at the CID Conference Room at 1:00 PM.

Attached to this memorandum is enclosure 1 -2.Transportation and other related expenses of the participants in relation to their

participation in this activity shall be charged to local funds subject to usualaccounting rules and regulations.

1. The student-contestants from private and public Junior High School shall competeindividually in two segments.

2. The two segments are as follows:Segment 1. True or False and Multiple ChoiceSegment 2. Fill-in,the-Blanks or Completion

3. Segment 1: True or False will be given 10 questions with 1 point for each corectanswer and Multiple Choice will be 10 questions and be given 1 point also for eachcorrect answer. Totalscore is 20 pointsSegment 2: Fill-in-the Blanks or Completion is composed of 20 questions and everycorrect answer will be given 3 points. Total Score is 60 points.The total accumulated point forthe competition is g0 points.Each participant shall be provided with a paperand pentelpen to answerthe questionsforsegmentl &2.For segment 1: (True or False and Multiple Choice) the contestants will write the wordTrue or False for True or False items and the letter of the correct answerfor the MultipleChoice items. Contestants will be given 10 seconds to write down their answer.For Segment 2: (Fill-in-the-Blanks or completion), participants will be given 15 secondsto write down their answers. A buzzer shall indicate that the time is up. Answer shallbe written in full; with no abbreviations or acronyms. Articles and prepositions shouldbe written correctly. Answerwith wrong spelling will be considered wrong. Correctionsmay be made by the participants but the previous answer must be crossed out withinthe given time allotment.Each question in Segments 1 and 2 will be read twice. After the Quizmaster reads thequestions the second time, helshe will say'GO'. Only then willthe participants writetheir answer. When the time is up, the Quizmaster will say "Markers/pens Up.,,Participants will then up their Markers/Pens and Papers to show their answers. TheQuizmasterwill read aloud the answer of each participant. The scorers will record theanswers accordingly. A cumulative score per participant will be announced by theQuizmaster after each round before moving on to the next segment.Afterthe completion of segment 2, the cumulative points of each participant in the twosegments will be tabulated. The results will be examined by the DTWG. When theresults have been verified, these will be submitted to the Board of Judges andannounced accordingly by the euizmaster.

10. The Chairman of the Board of Judges shall declare the First, Second and Third placewinners. The first place winner will represent the region to the RegionalASEAN euizCompetition. The Second/Third Place winners witl be the alternate in case theFirsUSecond winner unable to attend the competition.

11. ln case of a tie, tiebreaker questionls shall be given until definite winner emerges. Atthe start of tiebreaker round, the scores revert to zero. A contestant who got the firstthree correct answers wins.

12. Should there be questions or protests, the Board of Judges shall decide the matter.Their decision is final.

13' Only the official contestants have the right to raise a protest with the assistance of theofficialcoach.

ll. Criteria for the $election of the ParticipantsThe student-participants forthe Division ASEAN Quiz must:

a. be in grades I to 10 between fifteen (15) and seventeen (17) years old; must not

be eighteen (18) years old by the time of the REGIONAL Competition

(lnternational) which will be held in August 2018 at lndonesia;

come from either a public or a private school;

be proficient in English language both in oraland written;

have a grade of 85 and above in Araling Panlipunan/Social Studies for the firstquarter of SchoolYear 2017-2418;have a good interpersonalskillslbe a good team player;

be physically fit;be willing (parentalconsent) to travelto Tanza, Cavite forthe regional leveland as

well as for National Level in Quezon City and Regional (lnternational)Competition

in lndonesia, if he/she declared first place winner/one of the top three winners.

1. The test questions shall cover the three ASEAN Community Pillars-Political

$ecurity, economic and socio-cultural; ASEAN in General; and ASEAN

Member States or AMS-specific.2. The division technicalworking group will prepare 5 questions for each cateEory

(True or False, Multiple Choice and Fill-in{he-Blanks or Completion) thequestions will be forwarded to Dr. Magdalena S. Aragon, EPS 1- Araling

Panlipunan on or before March 13, 2018.

3. Suggested materials include, among others, officialASEAN publications from

the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, lndonesia and the Department of Foreign

Affairs Philippines, the ASEAN website (e.g. ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN

Communities, ASEANS Centers, etc.) website of the ASEAN Commiftee on

Culture and lnformation, websites of all 10 ASEAN Member States and other

relevant official websites.
