What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? From the process of constructing our OTS, I have learnt more about digital technology including video cameras and editing software such as audacity and movie maker.I was already aware of how to use a video camera, however I have learnt a lot more when using them. I discovered how to use filters in order to make certain parts of the OTS more effective, whether that was just to adjust the lighting so the image was clearer or to add to the mood of the sequence. Not only this, but I have also learnt a lot more about moviemaker and the things the software allows you to do, for example being able to edit clips in different ways, changing the colour, adding effects etc, in order to make the OTS look better making it seem more professional and engaging whilst also adding to the atmosphere of the product.Imogen SnowFrom the process of constructing our product, I have learnt more about many aspects of technology than I previously knew, such as editing software and video cameras.Regarding editing software, I have learnt how to change and move different clips around to create an appropriate product. I have also learnt how to use different filters and effects to change the mood of a clip. From using editing software, I found that editing sound can be complicated but that using the correct software - audacity - that you can make sound louder, quieter and split and cut it to fit the atmosphere of our product.Regarding video cameras, I previous knew how to record, but I have learnt a lot about how to change certain settings to create a better clip. For example, I have learnt how to change the focus, lighting and filters of a video camera so that in the same way editing software does, it can change the mood and focus of a clip for the audience.Megan HoldingLooking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Imogen SnowFrom my preliminary task, I feel I have learnt a lot more whilst creating my thriller opening sequence. Exploring moviemaker allowed me to do a lot more. For example, if you view my preliminary task you may notice that the clips dont run as smoothly together, there is no music or anything that could make it more appealing. If you compare this to the thriller opening sequence, you will notice how much more there is.I was able to learn how to trim/ split clips and move them around to make them look better, make sure the clips ran smoothly rather than looking jumpy, add different sound effects, putting them in at particular moments to add to the atmosphere and make the piece more engaging, add certain effects and transitions to show a certain part of the sequence was in the past, change the speed of certain clips and also adjust the lighting. Not only this but I also feel I have learnt more about camera angles/ shots and when to use them to make the piece more effective, and how to use a tripod to do this along with using it in different ways in order to make sure the film footage is not shaky and looks more professional.Lighting is another important aspect I have learnt much more about due to encountering issues on the first day of filming, so I learnt about the best times to film in order to see the footage clearly, where to place the camera so I could create shadows at certain points, and where not to place the camera to make sure the main actor was not hidden by the sun. Researching more into the different types of lighting also helped.Imogen SnowFrom my preliminary task to our product, I learnt;how to make the clips and shots flow rather than jumpthat you need space around you for the camera to get a good shothow to adjust the tripod to get different camera anglesthe best ways to use and move the camera as well as the best lightings and settings to use

Megan Holdingmore about different concepts and a better understanding of them, such as the 180 rule, shot-reverse-shot and match on actionmore about the use of lighting, such as key, back and fill lighting
