Raised in West Virginia and arriv-ing in New Orleans via New York City,Cerveris has had a varied and acclaimedcareer as a musician, singer, songwriterand actor. Alternating between tours asguitarist and vocalist for Bob Mould, hehas sung with artists as diverse as PeteTownshend and The Breeders, and hasopened with his own band for FrankBlack, Teenage Fanclub and Lloyd Cole.Cerveris is also a Tony Award-winningactor (Assassins) who has receivedconsistent rave reviews for such showsas Sweeney Todd (with Patti Lupone),

LoveMusik, Titanic, The Who’sTommy, Hedwig & the Angry Inchand the television series Fame.

For the past few months he hasbeen living, working and playing in NewOrleans while filming Cirque du Freak,co-starring John C. Reilly, Selma Hyack,Ken Watanabe and Willem DaFoe.

The BBQ begins at 6pm andthe $10 donation includes smoked sau-sage, hamburgers, baked beans, po-tato salad and brownies.

scend on The Big Easy. In recent years,gay New Orleans as seen a big in-crease in business for this holiday week-end.

On Friday, revelers can look forsome of the highlights including Mas-cara 2008 Hamster Derby at GoodFriends Bar, New Meat Dance Contestat Corner Pocket, Military Maneuversat Oz, Beer Bust at the Phoenix, andStarlight Revue at Starlight By The Park.

Saturday brings Drag Queen PingPong to JohnPaul's, and The Zoo Revueto Big Daddy's.

Sunday highlights include the Mas-cara Crawfish Boil at Rawhide, Fleur deLis Divas Revue at Cowpokes, ShowNight at Oz, and Barry Bareass' Bot-toms Up Wet Jockey Shorts Contest atCorner Pocket.

Monday is a big day with the annualMascara Race benefitting NOCCA kick-ing off at Clover Grill ending with theawards ceremony at Rawhide, and theMemorial Day Cookout at CornerPocket.
