Switch to Renovations• 2008: Foreclosure crisis hit Michigan hard• This switch has allowed us to TRIPLE our impact in just 6 short years• In 2008, we renovated 6 homes• This year we will renovate 18 homes!

Neighborhood Revitalization• Targeted neighborhoods • Gault Village: over 50 homes in this neighborhood alone!• It is becoming harder for us to acquire homes in certain neighborhoods due to increased property values, our work has played a major role in this• Now moving into new targeted neighborhoods – West Willow, Holmes Rd Neighborhood, Ecorse Rd Neighborhood, Ford Rd Neighborhood• Community wide impact

Home Improvement Program• In addition to our typical Homeownership Program, we have launched a Home Improvement Program to help more families in need

- Critical Repair and Weatherization- Exterior Home Improvement Projects- Refrigerator Replacement Program- Furnace Test and Tune Program

• We want to not only help families become homeowners, but also help current homeowners keep their homes and keep them safe, livable, and affordable!

Sustainability• Energy efficient renovations• Save the families close to $1K per year on energy costs• Keep hundreds of tons of materials out of landfills• We want to make sure families can afford their homes after they move in• Sustainable homes… sustainable neighborhoods…sustainable families!

Habitat Families• We do not give homes away for free!• Our partner families are hardworking, deserving families that meet specific requirements

- 30-60% area median income- Range of income based on family size- Needs based assessment

• HHHV’s No-Profit Mortgage Program- $1K down payment- Mortgage payments back to HHHV- Mortgage payments are reinvested in our programs to help more families

Habitat Tithe•For every home that we renovate in Washtenaw County, we sponsor one abroad!• HHHV concentrated areas: Haiti and Guatemala• Since 1989, we have tithed over $400,000 and built over 100 houses abroad

ReStore• Our ReStore sells new and gently used home items (furniture, appliances, home décor, etc)• Open to the public to make donations as well as purchase items• 100% of ReStore net revenue is reinvested in HHHV’s programs

Volunteers• Volunteers are our strength!!• HHHV logged over 30,000 volunteer hours in 2014 (20,000+ construction, 10,000+ ReStore)• No construction experience needed…all skill levels welcome!

Good News Group Basics• The Good News Group was founded in 1997• Methodist Churches joined together to form the “Methodist House”, additional non-Methodist churches have joined over the years• Today, the Good News Group consists of 17 local congregations (Welcome, Chelsea Church of the Nazarene!)• Each congregation supports Habitat by: 1. Providing at least one person to serve on the Good News Steering Committee 2. Sharing in the yearly $80,000 renovation costs for two home renovations ($40,000 per home, costs not covered by HHHV funding) 3. Providing volunteers to perform the renovations
