Now click format to delete the contents on your USB device and change the format to WBFS.

(Note: You will not be able to use the USB drive only to store Wii isos because the computer operating system doesn't recognize the WBFS format).

After you're done formatting click the "Load button to load the contents of your USB device. It's empty.

Click the "Browse" button in the lower right corner to open a new window, locate your Wii ISO, click it, and click "Open" in the lower right corner. It will take a few seconds to load. You should see it in the right half of the WBFS Manager window. Hover your mouse over it to see it's game cover.

Before you can install usb loader to your Wii you first need the files in your SD card.

Unrar the usb hack rar file with Winrar or 7-Zip and copy the contents of the "Copy contents to root" folder to the root of your SD card. Pretty self explanatory. If you get awindow asking you to merge folders click yes. Now comes the tricky part.

(Optional: You can also download the covers for the games. The reason I say it's optional is because it contains over 1300 game covers and will occupy 100 MB in your SD card. But it's convenient to have so you don't have tosquint to read the game text on the tv. Just download it, uncompress the Covers zip file with 7-ZIP and drag the covers folder to the usb-loader folder in the root on yourSD card.. You will get a prompt to merge folders and click yes )

Remove any Gamecube memory cars and Gamecube controllers from the Wii.Insert the SD card into your Wii, turn the Wii on and go to the Homebrew channel.

Click on "cIOS36rev10" and click load. The screen will go black for a second and you will then be in the cIOS36rev10 installer. Use the directional arrows to choose WADinstallation and click A. 1. SUCCESS!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Step 6: Troubleshooting.I finally had the time to write the solutions to some Wii error codes. If at any time you Wii spits an error code at you, here two of the most common errors, and theirsolutions.

Common error codes and solutions:

Error Code:ret= -1 Cause:You are missing a Cios (249, 222 or something like that)Solution: Install Cios 249 or 222, or whatever cios is needed by the usb loader you are using.

Error Code:ret= -2011Cause: A signing bug that allowed the execution of code was patched by /nintendo is system menu 4.0 and higher.Solution: Run trucha bug restorer to restore the exploit on your Wii.

For the errors that I didn't bother to write down, here is a list of common Wii errors and their solutions:http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AsG1QflcbnLndE5JQUpIbS1BZEEyb2VzSTJad2RZNlE&hl=en

le-Sid says:  Nov 9, 2010. 7:53 PM  REPLYfor my part i've used "pimp my wii" from wii-info.fr, it updates your ios to the required versions to make most hacks run, including updates forthe shop channel and most other online nintendo channels.

darrenthorpe says:  Jan 5, 2010. 2:59 PM  REPLYI have transfered wii sports resort to my usb devise but it has gone over as 0.83GB as apposed to 4.38GB that it actually is. is this correct? I have done thesame with bolt and it shows the same in both and works fine!!!!!!

Solderguy says:  Jan 7, 2010. 2:09 AM  REPLYYes it is the correct size. 4.3 GB is the size of the DVD, not the size of that game data. You'll be surprised how small they can make the games.

Jrwhar says:  Mar 31, 2010. 9:11 AM  REPLYFor some reason when I transfered SSBB it went up to 6.8 gig from 4.7 any ideas on how to fix that? Any help would be greatly appreciated becauseid be able to fit alot more games on my 16 Gb flash drive. Awesome work on the tut by the way :)

Jrwhar says:  Mar 31, 2010. 9:17 AM  REPLYNevermind, did some research and SSBB is a dual layer game which takes up a massive amount of space.

le-Sid says:  Nov 8, 2010. 4:55 PM  REPLYyup, ssbb is one of the few games that are burnt on double-layer dvd ... (same thing for Metroid trilogy)

darrenthorpe says:  Feb 15, 2010. 1:08 PM  REPLYHi,I am also having lots of problems with the screen getting lots of strange symbols when scrolling through the games and then it crashes with a dsierror and other comments. I have to turn the wii off at the mains. this is happening with probably 80% of the games that I put on the hard drive. OnceI delete the game off (that was downloaded last that caused the issue), all is ok with the games that are on and ok. Can you help?? Daz

Solderguy says:  Feb 16, 2010. 3:16 PM  REPLYTry using another usb loder program. I use Uloader 3.0 now because I got the same error.

darrenthorpe says:  Feb 17, 2010. 3:00 PM  REPLYThanks, Took some time finding uloader 3.0 but now installed and worked well with the first game. Thanks for all your help. I'll now try theothers.

le-Sid says:  Nov 8, 2010. 4:52 PM  REPLYthe wbfs format is a partition type, you can always reformat your drive in fat32 afterwards, but keep in mind that you'll lose what was on the wbfs partition

MTB2010 says:  Sep 5, 2010. 8:55 PM  REPLYI downloaded the WBFS and tried putting my game file in its a .rar but says it fails becaus theres a password on it, how do i get past this?

pcjoeyd says:  Jul 5, 2010. 10:07 AM  REPLYHi boyflai, You have to mod your system before you can do any of this. Also (and this is for everyone that has asked), do NOT update your wii system tothe latest update (4.3U) DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII !!! If you do, you will not be able to mod your system. Eventually there will be a fix, but it's not outyet.. Having said that, if you are anyone else wants their wii modded, I'll do it for you for a small fee....I can mod any version EXCEPT 4.3

Ghost99 says:  Aug 14, 2010. 5:48 PM  REPLY4.3u can be modded in minutes. I did mine this morning and the entire process took me literally under 10 minutes. What you will need: Lego IndianaJones - The original Adventures Indiana PWNS hacked save file Hackmii installer 1-2GB SD card (DO NOT use larger then 2GB, DO NOT use aSDHD card) Process: 1. Back-up or delete your Wii saved files system memory. 2. Start Indiana Jones and play through the first level WITH theNunchuck attached. 3. Save your game at the end of the first level. 4. Exit to Wii Menu, Access save file, delete the current Indiana Jones save andcopy the the Indiana PWNS save from your SD card (use the save for your region e.g. USA, EU, JAP) 5. Extract the HackMii files to the ROOT ofyour SD card. Make sure that boot.dol is in the ROOT and named "boot.dol" (If the .dol file is named something else rename it to boot.dol) 6. StartIndiana Jones and load the save file. 7. You will be loaded into the College or Museum or whatever it is, walk to the Art Room at the end of theCourtyard. 8. Walk up to the guy on the first pedestal and select the option of the two silhouette's 9. When the Indiana PWNS exploit runs select"load from SD" 10. HackMii should load on its own 11. Install the Homebrew Channel and BootMii loader 12. Voila! HBC is installed on your 4.3 Wii inunder 10 minutes!

Devinology says:  Jan 18, 2010. 12:47 PM  REPLYHi there, nice guide.

I have finally got the usb loader program installed properly but it doesn't seem to be recognizing my WBFS formatted drives.  I have tried two different mediaplayers, one HDD based with a seperate partition on it that I formatted in WBFS, and one flash based with the whole thing formatted in WBFS.  I have alsotried an external HDD (HP brand) that has one partition in NTFS and one partition in WBFS.  I do not have any SD cards or usb keys large enough to holdany games.  I know the HP HDD should work though, as many have got them to work.  What am I doing wrong?  USB loader 1.5 says it cannot find a WBFSpartition.  I would I formatted it correctly and added the games correctly.  I am using Wii 3.4U firmware, with trucha bug restored (it needed to be restored forme to install usb loader properly in the first place.  Is the problem maybe that I need to have an HDD that is completely formatted in WBFS (one partition allin WBFS)?  I have other stuff on the HDD and I really only want about 100GB of it to be a WBFS partition.  Is 100GB partition too large?  Do I need to go outand get a larger USB key and use it only for this purpose?

I need help!I am so close to geting this to work, I thought the hard drive part would be the easiest part.

Any help would be great.  I don't want to go buy another USB device for this if I can just use ones I have.Again, the problem with everything I have tried is that usb loader 1.5 does not recognize the WBFS formatted usb devices.

Devinology says:  Jan 18, 2010. 7:34 PM  REPLYokay, I have figured it out.I have a few tips to get this going. You CAN use an HDD with multiple partitions, as long as one of them is in WBFS.  To do this you have to use a partitioning program (I used Partitionmagic 8) to change some free space on the HDD into a new partition.  Then you format the partition.  There are two things you MUST do when formattingif you want to be able to format into WBFS with the WBFS manager and have the Wii (USB loader) recognize the drive.  First, you must format thepartition in FAT32 first.  Second, when you format in FAT32 make sure you make the partition a primary partition rather than a logical one.  The Wii willnot recognize it unless it is primary.  After this you can format into WBFS with the WBFS manager.  Then you add the games using the manager, andthen hook the HDD up to the Wii via USB.  USB loader should now recognize it.

DO NOT use the game ripping function (install game)  in USB loader.  it was not meant to be used with WBFS manager formatted drives (I don't think). Well all I know is that I have tried it several times and it always seems to just mess up my drive and I have to do the whole process over again.I think if you want to rip games from the Wii you can probably get it to work in USB loader by ripping to a different drive than the one you use to playgames, and then maybe somehow transfer it over properly with WBFS manager using you computer. If anyone figures out how to use this function I would be grateful.  For now I am just downloading the games I want, but the ripping function would be niceif it worked well (especially if it ripped directly into playable form on the HDD, which I believe it is supposed to).  I haven't looked into how to rip Wiigames on a PC yet, but I am sure it isn't too hard.  I know the game ISOs I have downloaded say they have been "scrubbed", not sure what this means, something to do with beating copy protection I am sure.

Also, I managed to get the inverted homebrew channel thing going on after patching my IOS36 to have the trucha bug, which I needed to do in order toget the IOS36rev10 patch to work.  I would kind of like to fix it, but now that I have games working from the HDD I almost don't want to mess with it, and itactually doesn't really affect the functionality of the homebrew channel or any of it's apps.  Just makes the menu a little tricky to navigate in order toselect an app.  If anyone knows of a way that will fix it without messing up anything else I have done, please let me know.

Cheers, hope this helps someone.
