THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Malachi 3:1920a, 2 Thessalonians 3:712

Luke 21:519

Brief Reflection: Our security lies in God alone;

he is our anchor and strength.

In the Gospel today, Jesus paints a picture of a

time when there will be wars and earthquakes

and famine. Yet he offers hope and says, Do not

be terrified. We must know that our security can-

not rest in anything of this world, but on God

alone, who will sustain us in times of suffering.

A Word from Fr. James…

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This next week we will arrive at the Solemnity of Christ the King,

which will bring us to the conclusion of the 2019 Year of Grace.

The following Sunday, December 1, we will begin a new year with

the First Sunday of Advent. Please watch the upcoming bulletins for

a listing of our Advent activities here in the parish.

This thirtythird Sunday in Ordinary Time continues our reflection

upon the end times, not only our own individual end time, but also

the end of all time when Jesus will come and call all of us home. In

the gospel we hear Jesus pointing out to the people all of the magnif-

icent adornments of the temple will be destroyed and lost.

Of course the response from the people is that they want to know

when. When, Lord, will all of this take place? When will we know?

That is a question that I think we all have in our hearts. When are

we going to know when the day of return will be? The answer we

get is not always the one that we want. The answer is very simple,

at a day or time that we do not know Our Lord will return. Truthful-

ly that answer is not very helpful, but it encourages us to be prepared

always, to be awake and alert.

Jesus does give us important advice this weekend. He tells us that

there will be many that will come and will deceive us. There will be

those that will come and say that they are Jesus, but they are simply

wolves in sheep’s clothing. Let us not be deceived. Let us draw

near to Jesus and be alert so that we will always know Jesus from

those that are imposters and that we follow our true Shepherd.

Have a blessed week!!

El siguiente do-

preparados siempre, a estar despiertos y alertas.

Acerquémonos a Jesús y estemos

P. Santiago

que habrá guerras, terremotos y hambruna. Sin embargo, él of-
