Slidethebodyoftheunitthroughtherubbergasket.Inserttheunitintothepanel.Slidethebracketsupthegroovetopressagainstthebackofthepanel,asshownin"FIG.A".Insertthescrewsintotherearofthebrackets.

Tightenthescrewsevenlyandalternately.Apanellessthan.1"maydistortiftheclampsarescrewedtootightly.Donotovertighten!Anormalleveloftorqueisrequired.Maximumtorqueshouldbe3"pounds.Thepanelmustbeparalleltothebezeltoas-sureproperseal.UnitsealstoNEMA4/IP65ifproperlymounted.

WIRING CONNECTIONS

AC/DCCONNECTIONS:NOTE:Connectpoweronlyafterotherconnectionsarefinished.DonottouchtheliveACpowertermi-nals.TheunithasbeendesignedwithanisolatedACinput,thereforepolarityisnotaconcernfortheACpower.Thechassisisplastic,thereforeearthgroundisnotused. ForDCoperation,connect+DCtoterminal10and-DCtoterminal3.

ThisProductcomplieswithrequirementsoftheEu-ropeanCommunityDirective89/336/EEC[Electro-magneticCompatibility].However,electricalnoiseorintenseelectromagneticfieldsinthevicinityoftheunitmaydisturbthemicroprocessor.Usersshouldexercisecareandshouldtakeproperprecautionstoavoidmicroprocessordisturbance.

Fourcommonsourcesofnoiseare:

1)ACpowerlinenoise-Theinputpowerlinesshouldnotbecommontopowerlinesformotors,pumps,contactors,etc.Iftheunitcannotbeconnectedtoanelectricallycleanpowersource,an inductiveloadsuppressingdevice(MOVasGE#V130LA1orResistorCapacitorasPaktron#.2uf/220ohm@400V)canbeinstalled.AlthoughlocatingthesuppressoracrosstheACsupplyattheunitshouldhelp,bestresultsareobtainedbyconnectingthesuppressoracrosstheleadsofthe"load"atthedevicecausingthespikes.

2)Inputlinenoise-ThenoiseiscarriedontheinputandDCgroundlines.Makesuretheinputwiresarenot run into theunit inabundlewithpowerinputlines.Werecommendusingshieldedcable.ConnecttheshieldtoDCgroundoftheunitand"earth"atonepointinthecircuitpreferablyattheDCgroundterminaloftheunit.

3)Outputlines-Theunithastwoopencollectoroutputs and two optional relay outputs. Whentheseoutputsareusedtorunexternalrelaysorsolenoids,spikescanbegenerateduponactiva-tion.Thisnoisecanspreadthroughtheinstrumentcausingoperatingproblems.IfthesourceisaD.C.operateddevice,ageneralpurposediode(IN4004)placedacrossthesolenoidpreventselectricalnoisespikes.Connectthecathode(bandedside)tothemorepositivesideofthecoil.IfthesourceisanA.C.operateddevice,useaResistorCapacitororMOVacrossthecoil.

4)24VDCoutputsupply-Noisecanbegeneratedonthe24VDCoutputsupplyifitisusedtodriveinductiveloadsorifthecurrentdrawexceeds50mA.Insurethatallinductiveloadshaveadiode(suchas IN4004)across thecoil and that thecurrentdoesnotexceed50mA.

NOTE: ForadditionalovercurrentprotectiontheuseofanexternalfuseisrecommendedontheDCoutputaswellasRelayOutputconnections.Itishighlyrecommendedtouseanexternalfuseforthepowerinputconnection(see"TypicalWiring"diagrams.
